Here I go again!  I played the game for a week right after launch.

Patch 1.6 looks good on paper, and I like what they have planned.  The servers are fairly active, so someone must be enjoying this game.  For a while there the server activity was consistently low.  I'm glad to see that it looks like the game is going to survive because i'm really impressed by it's potential, even if the launch wasn't that great.

My biggest concern is that PUGs might still be a rare thing.  Back when I was playing, the game could be soloed.  That and the fact the game crashed on me a lot was the reason I quit.

Holy crap that is some massive patch!  3.5 gigs!

I just started tonight because of the low price on amazon. Figured it was worth a peek. I like the game so far. The options for graphics have me confused. I can't select AA stuff for some reason. Using Vista x64 dunno if it is a Vista thing.

I have trouble figuring out what ammo goes with what guns. What stats I am suppose to focus on if I want to be this class.

Most of all I don't know how to summon my pet I am supposed to get with the CE edition!

I like a little challenge so we'll see how it goes. So far I like it.

The gun's tooltip will tell you which type of ammo it needs; higher level ammo is used for higher level guns, so if the tooltip says "Standard Cartridge" then that's the only ammo that will work with that gun.
    Stats work out thus:
Body = primarily health/armour (good for melee)

Mind = primarily power + increased Logos damage (not all Logos, good for pure casters)

Spirit = Regen + Crit (good for heavy power-using classes)

Since most damage is done by guns and the increased Logos damage from Mind doesn't affect many Logos abilities, most people tend to go for Body and/or Spirit. Classes that take heavy damage like Spies/Guardians tend to go for full body, while classes that spam lots of abilities tend to go heavy into Spirit. If you want a decently rounded character just spread your attributes out evenly, (1 in Body/Mind/Spirit per level)
You summon the pet by using the whistle thing that's in the last tab of your backpack.

Well, I am enjoying the game a lot at the moment, even though i just started. The servers are indeed quite populated atm.And hey, there is nothing rong with trying the game out again.

I share your vision with the fact that this game has a lot of potential. It looks good and it feels good. It has this jedi academy kind of aura arround it, with these logo skills.

I had to let that patch run overnight.

I started a new character and re-ran through the training missions this morning.

    So far I'm pleased:

    1) I can't just recklessly charge into a group of bane all by myself anymore.  Before I could just run up to the dissector and his group and mow them down.

    2) The logos seem more useful.  I'm not sure, but it just seems like I can activate the lightning power more often.

    3) The game isn't crashing on me like it used to.   Maybe that will change once I get to the wilderness area.

So that's it for the training missions.  I remembered that being the most fun part of the game the last time I played.  Off to the wilderness!

For me, having played the beta for quite a bit but never going retail and having recently just gone back, for me the game really grabbed me around lvl 10'ish.  I was able to start filling out my weapon trays, I had some Logos, etc.

I would tell anyone just starting or coming back to give the game a chance - it would sorta be like judging EQ/EQ2 or WoW based on those early nub levels whacking rats/pigs with a rusty sword.

The 1.6 patch wasn't 3.5 gigs for me, that may be a combination of things.

The game can still be soloed for the most part, but the instances will require a group unless you out level the instance by numerous levels.  I have a RL friend and he an I duo all the time so we're covered either way.  Join an active clan, this way you can solo when you want and group for the tougher content.

I do know that all of the Prototype weapons I've received (purple weapons) have only come from instances, so if you're after really good loot you need to do instances.   They may drop outside of instances but that has been my experience.

Okeh, to try to answer your questions:

    1) "The options for graphics have me confused. I can't select AA stuff for some reason. Using Vista x64 dunno if it is a Vista thing."

First off,the game does not allow you to change ANY of the optins if you are using a preset option  set (such as Normal or High).  You MUST select "Custom" as your graphics setting before it will let you change anything.  Once you have, then ALL the settings options will light up and can be changed.  It's very possible to actually LOWER your FPS using custom settings - so be careful using them.

Secondly, not having Vista x64, I can't say as to whether or not AA is playable with.  I seem to recall a issue with AA on Vista - make sure that you have AA set to "Application-controlled" in your nVidia Control Panel, General graphics settings section.

    2) " I have trouble figuring out what ammo goes with what guns"

Whoo, a easy one :)  There's 4 kinds of ammo in the game, and they're pretty easy to figure out.

Anything that you'd expect to throw a bullet (or a shotgun blast) takes regular ammo.  Laser, Leech Guns, starter Polarity Guns, and  EMP weapons take Power Cells (natch).  Rocket Launchers, RPGs, and the Torqueshell rifle take Rocket Ammo (to see why the Torqueshell does, Google the Gyrojet sometime).  Weapons (as a general rule) that do Fire, Ice, or Virulent damage take Canister Ammo (which makes sense, as canisters hold the fuel for the weapon).  To see what grade a weapon uses, look at it's tooltip; it'll tell you what grade it uses.  Weapons don't take multiple grades of ammo - the grade is determined by the weapon tyype and the level it is, with rapidfire weapons (chainguns, etc) taking one grade lower than the equivalent-level regular weapon for cost-balance reasons.

    3) "What stats I am suppose to focus on if I want to be this class"

Kinda hard to answer, as you didn't mention WHICH of the eight classes you wanted to be at endgame - Recruit isn't really a class, it's the "Starter" given TR's reverse-tree class structure.  To go on.... There's not a cookie-cutter way to do classes in TR *yet* - and the stats have meaning now where they didn't before.  As stats in one are affect another in a round-robin fashion, it's really, really hard to totally screwup.  Plus, in 1.6 you can earn respecs by farming CPs for tokens - so it's not that big a deal.

Stat progression is as follows:  Each level you get TWO POINTS automatically in each stat, plus THREE unassigned points that you can allocate as you wish.  Any points you allocate to each stat give a BONUS to a secondary attribute on your character.  The stats increase each other in a round-robin fashion, so anything you add to one will automatically increase another by a small percentage as well.  The bonuses increase by level, as well - the level of your character in included in the bonus calculations.

The attributes are (and what they affect):

    1) Body - Increases health.  BONUS: Increases armor.  SECONDARY: Increases Mind.

    2) Mind - Increases your Power Pool.  BONUS: Increases power of direct-damage Logos abilities, and will increase pet health in a upcoming patch.  SECONDARY: Increases Spirit.

    3) Spirit - Increases both in-combat and out-of-combat regeneration rates (regeneration happens in "ticks" which are about 1 second long out-of-combat, and 2.5 seconds in-combat.  Amount per tick is determined by armor regen plus Spirit regen, and is reduced by 90% in-combat. This is shown on your Stats page as a percentage).  BONUS: Increases your Critical Hit percentages for weapons and Logos direct-damage abilities. SECONDARY: Increases Body.

Under this system, it's really easy to see what the stats do - and yo can actually get fairly complicated if you wanted to.  There's some tradeoffs as well - Want a Crit Demon for a Spy?  You're tissue paper if you do.  Want a tanking powerhouse?  You can do it, but it'll cost you in both Logos Powers and in Crit Hits.  'Sides, if you REALLY want to get one-sided, once you can unlock the Hybrids you'll find that each is specialized in it's stat distro - Forean for Mind over everything, Brann for Spirit over all else, and Thraz for Body.  So, if you REALLY want to specialize, get one character up enough to unlock all the Hybrids (lvl 42 or so to unlock all three), then create one of each and go to town!

    4) "Most of all I don't know how to summon my pet I am supposed to get with the CE edition!"

With the CE edition, there should be a token in the Miscellaneous tab of your backpack.  You take that token to a vendor in Alia Das (once you get there), if you look, from the landing pad there are two pillars that serve to separate the human camp from Alia Das proper - there's a guy standing at the base of the right pillar that should have a radio icon over his head.  Talk to him, and you can redeem your token for the pet.  Once you have the pet, you'll see a icon that looks kinda like a baton in your Misc tab, replacing the token.  Right-click on it, or put it in your Ability tray and activate it.  Voila' your pet.  To dismiss it activate the baton again.

Hope that helps - the game can get a lot more complex that what I've put here, but this should serve for starters :)
