It is the attitude of some people on these boards.
YOU are ready to discuss any rumors and make pure speculative topics all day long. It is like you are living in this dream land, creating THAT mmo you could masturbate to. But when somebody from real world posts some facts, you guys refuse to accept them. And what do you do next?
"HALP!!! MODS!!! COME QUICK LOL. HE IS POSTING BAD THINGS! BANBANABANBAN"
After that you continue to discuss stuff that will never make it to the release or just plain sucks in reality.
And btw, EVERYONE knows what NDA is. You don't have to mention it in 10 posts in a row.
Like my ideas?

BANBANBANBAN!!
These forums aren't a dumping ground for unproven beta leaks. The official forums aren't, other fan community forums aren't. Why do you believe trash should be posted here? Its not tolerated anywhere else, except maybe youtube comments.
You know what you can't even prove any real world facts that anyone has posted. What makes you so sure that things such as battlekeeps hasn't been tested??
You know Open Beta and game launch, can't come soon enough, then that will be real world facts that you can see with your own eyes, a more finished game than what some of these leakers post with info back from last year..
What you refuse to believe is that these so called "facts" are facts. Some of us just know the difference..
If people know what the NDA is then why do they break it? huh? I know for a fact people who post here who are not in the beta and make things up or pretend to say the game is "this" when its really opposite.
Its the attitude of these so called leakers, that think they are doing everyone a favour. Its all BS and unfounded because they believe they are playing a finished product and therefore judge it on that.
No problem at all with criticism. Some people though love to lie about things. Some of them do that for a living.
How can one distinguish between the lies, the reality of the beta at X period of time or the reality of the beta at the present point of time?
They can't. Since most posters in these forums have no way to validate their "information" as true and up to date, all information presented both positive and negative must be take with a grain of salt. Or tons of salt for that matter.
Want to know what really pisses me off?
People with horrible nicknames. It means you have no creativity. It means I already don't like you and more often than not, will ignore what you say.. Just not this time. We don't like hearing bad things not just because we don't want the party pooper ruining our day, it's because we don't have the game in front of us. We can't test it and make our own decision. We get tired of people claiming this and that about a game, saying that so and so friend of theirs told them this or that about the game. What you like or dislike is different from what your friend, my friend, myself, my mom, your girlfriend... you get the point, everyone has a different opinion.
It's just a little annoying having trolls going around saying something about the game sucks when we have no proof of it. You might hate zoning. I might prefer it. You might hate the combat. I might love it.
Bottom line is, AoC is still in beta. When it is launched and we all see that it's the worst game every created, then we'll make our own decision and try WAR. It is however, my belief that AoC will do just fine.
I know this has nothing to do with the topic, but I would just like to respond to the last post, and comment that I actually do prefer Zoning. Reason being that the "zones" are generally bigger, and more detailed and filled out when the game is made in this style. However i would hope they didnt go overboard like they did in some spots in EQ2 where there are ~6 zones in each Starting CITY (singular) alone... that would be pretty lame.
No I don't, but thx for sharing anyway.
Why does Amazing Avery care so much about the NDA, I could understand bringing it up in a few post but he is all over it like he owns the game or at least mmorpg AoC forums !
the problem is unconstructive criticism
like: beta sucks, funcom sucks, beta is a joke
well the solution is simple, shut up and go play something else
well is that so hard?
nothing wrong with giving your opinion about the game but at least come with some arguments or something, if youre so mad the game isnt the best in a BETA then leave it alone
PS: i wont buy the game myself, and no i aint a AoC fanboy
MMOs currently playing: -
About to play: Lord of the Rings Online
Played: Anarchy Online (alltime favorite) and lots of f2p titles (honorable mentions: 9Dragons, Martial Heroes, Dekaron, Atlantica Online)
As for the OP... No, but funny reading.
If you hate the game...shut up n move on...or give some actual facts rather than just bashing. If you can't because of the NDA...then wait till the NDA is lifted...then you can bash all you want n put some proof behind your bashing.
Not meant as an insult but AmazingAvery seems to be the valiant defender of AoC and a super fan. I'm sure he just likes this game a ton =P
No one should trust Beta reviews at all, whether they're good or bad. What pisses me off is the biased ones, ones that go "This game sucks everything in it sucks you'd be a NUUUUB to buy this sucky game sucks so much suck!" Shouldn't believe those, but shouldn't believe the ones that give the game nothing but praise either. It's tricky sometimes

A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"
Order of the White Border.
This is the most ignorant and stupid statement I have ever read. Why does Avery care? Who do I care? Why should you care?
An NDA is a contract; when you sign it, you are agreeing to certain terms and conditions and one of those its to not disclose information. Having people do so, its a violation of a contract. It is an ethical violation and in today's world, ethics should be important...alas, they are not. You see the NDA as a way for Funcom to keep all the dirt and secreats about a crappy game secret. I see it as a legal document that is designed to protect their intellectual property regardless of that game, good or bad.
You are so determined to destroy Age of Conan and reveal your oh so wonderful beta leak sources that you could care less. This is why your opinion and your posts on these forums are a complete waste of time.
So here are a few suggestions:
1. Get over your haterd of Funcom and Age of COnan.
2. Get over your dislike for Avery
3. Go to work for a company like Enron because if you care so little about contracts and ethics, you would have been a perfect fit for fraud and the like.
People on these forums who honor the NDA and respect Funcom for having it in place, are sick and tired of supposed beta leaks and constant breaks of the NDA. Thats why we care; and if you cannot understand that, please by all means, find another forum to post in.
Honesly, if someone posted a beta review that said this game was doing great, it's gonna be the greatest ever, how many of you would automatically say "that's breaking the NDA it's probably not true?" Maybe a few would, but I don't think it'd be your first reaction, as it is when someone mentions a beta review that states the bad things about AoC.

So I guess if you don't like the game you should just shut up, and let your one sided views be facts ?
Forums are OPINIONS, FACTS, GUESSES good or bad, and just about ANYTHING !

Actually, for me, it is. Any NDA violation is a violation, regardless good or bad. Again its ethics and for me its that simple. I can't speak for others but I will report NDA violations regardless of the content.
Agreed that a violation is a violation. Then again, these companies create this problem themselves. Back in the day to beta test a game I actually had to fill out an application or send in a resume. Then, I'd have devs call me back to do a phone interview and such. Now, it is just simple online forms with does your PC meet our spec thing if so attach file, we'll email you thing. I actually miss the old days when the devs cared who there were letting into beta and actually took the time to meet the testers.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
Ethics is a very interesting stance to take in regards to ndas...
I think its possible for someone to want to break an nda for ethics reasons just as much as it would be for someone to want to keep an nda for ethics reasons.
Hypothetically speaking, someone could hear a lie or some other 'unethical' action being taken, and feel that the ethical thing to do would be to tell people the truth. This could be in regards to features, state of the game, really anything. And it certainly isn't limited to game development.
Personally I would be a lot more forgiving for such actions in such a case, because I don't think a promise to deceive would be a promise that should be ethically kept anyway. I would say to make such a promise at all would be unethical as soon as it was made.
I think history has tons of examples where people kept their mouths shut and followed orders regardless of ethics involved, and no good came of it. Its kinda sad that its showing up in game development though.
Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence.
Woe to thee, the pierce-ed.
There is nothing wrong with expressing your feelings about a game. Liking or disliking. However, at a certain point there is nothing left to actually be said and it turns into trolling or flamebaiting.
However, most of the cases we see here are based on someone's opinion of an unfinished product. Once the NDA is lifted, people can come here and post all they want about the game. That will be their chance to explain about the game. As a matter of fact, I won't post much because I will be too busy reading their opinions. But until then, the NDA is in place. I expect the NDA to be lifted sometime around May 1st and we will have plenty of time to hear all about what is wrong with the game or right with the game. Until then, I think its best to respect the NDA and thats why I feel as strongly as I do.
You're a rare breed. Hope you don't do this for only AoC!

I understand what you are saying here. Here is the point, we are under two months from launch. The game in beta right now is for the most part the game you will see at launch. This game has been in development for a very long time and was content complete and ready to ship back in October 2006. Fast forward 19 months and four delays later and they are still fixing stuff, changing game play, etc. It is my opinion that the game you see today is the game that will ship or you will see another delay. It takes months and months to code and test major changes to games. It should all be about bug fixing right now. Besides, why bother with an NDA once you are this far into beta anyway as MMOGs are constantly changing not only in beta but post launch.
