That is the same with every single game released.  More and more people are getting beta keys, so more and more people are playing the game and have comments and concerns to address.  It is just part of the process that happens with every game.

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware

"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."

    Maybe they're bored of beta

Account has been stolen, why would someone want to steal my account?

Aye, the closer this or any game gets to launch the stir surrounding it will increase, good or bad.

    To OP:

That, and the fact that Warhammer got delayed, so some people are disappointed, don't want to bash their favorite game so the smack the next target in line ;)

Some people geniunly think that the game is flawed, which can be the case, no game is good for everybody.

Some people had wrong expectations or bigger expectations and now that we reach a closer to launch state and more information comes out, these expectations get down to earth, the hard way.

Some people are like parrots of doom, just repeat the latest doom and gloom rumour they found somewhere on the internet.

Some people make a living spreading misinformation. We're talking marketing and multi-million companies, anything goes.

Some people genuinly report problems with the current beta stage. Given all the above noise however, it's hard to tell which is which.

Bottom line, Funcom can have as many issues as they want in the game, once they decide to go gold, they better have a game that worths to be released. Until then, take everything about bugs and problems with a grain of salt, since problems is the reason to have a real beta in the first place.

And lets try to educate ourselves on what the game has to offer on release, it will greatly diminish the effect of unreasonable expectations.

Hey hey hey now, no need to bring us WARbois in on this!

But OP, this stuff has been going on since forums were established for MMO's.  I think some people cant stand the fact that there can be more than one game that is fun to play.  Some people just cant see past their current subscription.  Oh well. As most peeps will say here: "Just play what you think is fun!"

Hey well if these "trolls" turn out to be right, maybe they just want to save you from wasting your money. If they're wrong, you can proceed to point and laugh.

    --------------------------------------
A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

I don't put much weight in ANY opinions on a game until I try it for myself. Through the years I have tried a bunch, even when the "word on the street" said they were turds on a disc. Also I have never been much of an "I told you so!" person either.

As for the saving me money aspect its a non issue (for me). Spread over the free 30 days and any open beta time I get, I consider it fair.

I was just trying to figure out the motive and the flood of "this game stinks" posts.

I have NEVER in my life been waiting in line at a movie, restaurant, club ect and had a patron come out and shout at the top of his lungs "Don't go in! Don't waste your money! It sucks ass!" and thought anything other than "Wow, what a jackass".  I certainly didn't immediately get out of line and go home.

Have you ever heard about restaurants that have a rat infestation?

What if people couldn't talk about that rat infestation because the restaurant owner told the customers it was info covered by an NDA? Is it right to hide that kind of information?

When a women in that restaurant yells 'hey, theres hair in my soup!' do you think anything other than 'Wow, maybe i shouldn't order the soup..'?

Just a hypothetical situation to counter your hypothetical situation. Not saying it applies to AoC. Just saying that you are trying to put it in black and white, and maybe its not quite so clear cut.

I do know one thing though.. if a movie, restaurant, club etc ever actually tried to institute an NDA... I doubt most people would be foolish enough to actually follow it.

All I was pointing out is talk (ALL talk) is very, very cheap. Hidden agendas and axes to grind abound.

Also if a certified health inspector has posted a warning about a restaurant having a rat problem, thats one thing. But if an unofficial "yahoo" off the street tells me that he saw a rat in his potato...umm no I put NO credibility in that kind of information.

I see hidden agendas on both sides of the fence, so its just another brick in the wall to me. Personally I think a forum needs to have a sense of balance, you cant have all negative or all positive and expect anything truthful to actual be coming out of it.

As for your extension of the restaurant analogy, if there existed a 'certified health inspector' for AoC, I would love to meet him. Problem is, Funcom isn't allowing health inspectors on their property.. again that annoying little nda :) There is no third party that has full access to it. If there was, than I don't think we would be in the situation we currently are in.

The only valid evidence we can see, is what is released by the restaurant. And the restaurant surely isn't going to release evidence that they have a rat infestation, that would scare away customers. So what possible recourse is there to protect the customer from health concerns without going against the wishes of the restaurant?

An interesting predicament. And I've had a little fun with the analogy. :)

Its simple, with the increase in Public awareness about the game, this is bad for some whatever their reasons. They just want AoC to fail, there has been an upsurge in people moaning because they read an out of date leak somewhere. Then they assume they are in beta which is just not the case.

There are also others who liked the game at one point and as more info came out they are coming to terms that the game might be for them or they envisioned it being some other way. This isn't a bad thing to talk about, its just you see the same stuff from the same people all the time.

To be honest I cant wait for game launch then we go thru it all again, but this time people can judge the game for themselves in many ways without paying a penny and on a released to public product.

In my honest opinion I think the game is going to sell really well, appeal to alot of people, and they will also enjoy the game for what it is. Its not some holy grail, so long as people remember that. I think you will find the 6-10 people who constantly bombard the forums with bad stuff anyway have no intention of playing, besides they really are the "minority" in the grand scheme of things. You cant please everyone.

I imagine many of them wanted something or different expectations from the game than what they are getting now.  Why they insist on calling the game crap without being able to back up their own words is beyond me. They may as well keep their mouths shut untill the NDA is lifted n they can back up their claims.

I've been following AoC for a few years and I have never gotten anything but the impression that its a  mediocre game with some new ideas but in just as many ways its going backwards to EQ1 type game.

So it's a bit confusing for me to see all these people that were following the game closely enough to have actually pre ordered it to now decide its not good enough anymore? Just seems odd to me that flaws with this game has always been obvious.

But I'll probably buy AoC as well just to pass time before a real pvp/freedom mmo can be released.

MMORPG.com is great site overall, but all of their forums for every game have this going on. Sure, its going to happen with any game and the nature of a "discussion" area, but they let some of these folks kill much of the value of reading/posting here. To some, they do it just because the can and the have some sort of strange pleasure out of stirring things up. It is sad really.

If the beta tested didn't leak information then people would not be here questioning AOC. So you want people to waste even more money on a game just to be disappointed because its not what they thought it was or what the devs have been promoting.

Funcom devs must no whats going on in these forums and many others, so now is the time to drop the NDA and prove all these people wrong .

There is also a link to the actual AOC beta client floating about lol. Ok..you cant log in but you can read the patch notes so these people who are desperately trying to protect AOC are fighting a losing battle.

Don't let those types of people bother you.  Some people aren't happy unless they are unhappy with something - they're always looking for the negative and want to pass those feelings on to others.

Sad and pathetic, yes.  Able to get under my skin, no.  I'll buy this game when it comes out and judge solely for myself.  If I like it, then that's all that matters.

Why would they drop a the NDA while they're still in beta?

Patch notes? Name a MMO title that's never been patched.

Desperate? Lol, I'm only an endline client to the industry.  What do you have to lose over AoC's release?; Stocks?, Shares?, Your real life employment? ..or a few from your guild from another game?

Why wouldn't they drop it this close to open beta? Other  devs have dropped NDAs whilst in beta so why shouldnt FC if they have nothing to hide. Don't you think dropping the NDA would put people like me and other in their place.

Why is reading the patch note desperate lol..it would show current fixes and past fixes plus give a wealth of information. Seems you are the one who is desperate, desperately trying to find reasons not to believe the  tide of beta leaks about this game.

None are saying the game is crab but they are saying it will disappoint because its just not the game people imagine it to be. It really doesn't matter though because in 4 weeks time the open beta will starts, then we will see who is right and who is wrong.

I hope these beta links are wrong but for some reason i cant see it.

I wonder why? OH yeah, a little something called the NDA?

Some people may want to troll but others could be giving genuine info, never know. If people start to say this game isn't what people imagine when it's so close to release, however, most people are automatically gonna yell TROLLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.

yes considering where he's getting all his information consists of 3 people in the beta and only 1 that is complaining and he's not even there anymore. The rest like the game
