Who do i fight against?

I just realised that i have seen so many forums and texts about this game but this thing havent been discussed anywhere where i have been.

The question is simple, who do i fight against? In wow its simple, i play horde so i kill all allys i see. Who do i kill in aoc? My friend who is next to me?

In all honesty that's one possibility.

You're in the world of Hyboria. You can make friends with the people you meet or enemies with the people that wronged you. At some point you join a guild. The guild grows in power, partially thanks to you as well. Your guild captures a keep. You defend it from the people that want to take it from you. You fight them later on exactly because they attacked you.

You make your own mind about who to attack and who not.

You forge your own alliances and dictate who's going to be in your faction.

In this case, you have the freedom to do so.

After 3 years of WoW one of the things that annoys me is that I can be mining a resouce node, say Fel Iron for instance, I get attacked by a mob and someone from my faction runs in and ninja's it, gives me a smart@$$ comment and runs off, I can't hit him because he's my faction...

 

In AoC, can I attack anyone on a PvP/PvP RP server? So if someone does this, I can attack him, or he can attack me first, whichever?

Yes, including your own guild members (that might change though). Oh, "accidents" happen too, trying to help with a big polearm is not recommended usually.

Correct, unless he / she is grouped with you, you cant attack each other. Otherwise on a PvP server as the game was made for (to be played on the basis anyone can be attacked anywhere, expect towns/hubs) you can attack the asshole back. Its FFA with looting options still to be decided.

You cant throw people out of a faction but you can out of your guild too. And any race can fight any race or class or each other.

Fixed for ya.  WoW is simple.  AoC will hopefully be more complicated.  What's more complicated than blue = friendly, red = enemy?  When you have to decide for yourself who to attack and who to leave be.

Well, faction PvP can be as fun. It all depends on the game concept and how well the game enhances that concept.
