WHO said any of that? It certainly wasn't ArenaNet.

What is the expected release date?
There has been no change in the release window, and we anticipate that Guild Wars will be released in the second half of 2004.
1st off when Area net has a goal they will acomplish it, second it say that they anticipate it to be second half of 2004, there has never been a solid release date planted yet....dumb ass do the reasurch yourself.

Well i think it will make october, there was already an alpha and a e3 alpha, also there is supposed to be a beta at the end of august, when betas open the game is 95% done, betas are for puplic people that are picked, there might be 3000 in all, if the game is 95% done in august then is should be open in october/december.
Guild wars..........
HaHaHa there was no lie, Yes ive heard of a beta/openbeta at the end of august but not a realease, maby they said that before e3 2003, because it was the laughing stock then, but at e3 2004, with upgraded graphics and newer content, it was the talk of the e3, there has never been a game that has an exact release date, also, unless u have no life, 2 mounths for it to be pushed back is not alot at all, but just to make you happy the game will prolly come out november december, and with a little luck october.
Guild wars..........
ArenaNet is on schedule.. they said not to believe any of that BS. It looks like EB supplying their guess (2005) which ArenaNet already laughed at and said the game is still on schedule for the second half of this year. Some people think it will take a long time, but the alpha is approaching build -6000- (yep you read that right.. 6000), not having to take their servers down to update the game is a tremendous advantage, and they are basically coming out with 10 or so updates a day atm.
I kept GW installed after E3 ended and I load it every so often to see how much it downloads. Right now it's on build 5,582 - back at E3 it was around build 4,900 I think. Such is the wonder of streamed updates...
But as regards the topic, as others have said before, ArenaNet have given no indication that there's change in the second-half 2004 release date, which is a good thing. I'm hoping for a start to the open beta in around a six weeks or so, but I'm happy to wait it out.
Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for a game's release date to be pushed back. I would rather a game's release date be pushed back so that it is stable and bug free as possible instead of the company pushing the game out as possible. How many of us have had the experience of anticipating a game, buying it and then finding out it crashes everyother hour due to a problem that the devs had no time to fix. GW was a very good and stable alpha demo, but I want the game to be as close to perfect as possible since it is facing such opposition from the likes of EQ2 and WoW.
