Tarvold: I guess then u didnt take the time to read my source from warhammeralliance where stealth is already confirmed for wittch elf and witch hunter.
So with the source and confirmation from the Paris convention, what is it that makes u not convinced?
Its hardly confirmed. your source is a forum post whose source was another forum post who was just quoting from yet another forum post. Until we hear it from Mythic its nothing but a rumor.
And besides that everyone is acting as if having stealth makes you unkillable or something. I don't know what it was like in DAoC but in WoW this was hardly the case. Sure stealth gives you an advantage but you were still vulnerable to AoE and there was a chance that the person will be able to detect you even if you were in stealth
Are u even reading posts in this thread?
Did u even take a look of the second vid I posted?
Did u even check out the french source or even read the posts on warhammeralliance?
Or are u just closing your eyes and put your fingers into your ears and go LALALALALALALA???
I take it this is directed towards my post above yours.

Where did I suggest they invented positional attacks or poisons? And if you're getting tired of that arguement why are you the one bringing it to this forum?
People above my post were saying that it was okay to have stealth so long as it wasn't similar to the WoW rogue sneak attackers. My intent was to point out that Mythic handed the stealth off to thier high DPS melee classes that are designed to attack the weak caster classes. Obviously they intend for the witch hunter and witch elf to be ambush attackers or they would implement a universal cooldown when it is deactivated (refer to the video - the witch hunter attacks right away and with his gun which I believe is one of his hardest hits) or at least hand it off to a class that has no ambush benefit to stealth like the healers.
Also, I'd like to point out that collision detection is in this game and probably tied to being "in combat" since they have the PvE/PvP enabling it can be used for griefing players by being PvE and physically blocking a POI with your toon. So does that mean that stealth will allow players to clip thru a wall of enemy tanks to get at the squishy healers? Did they just gimp the tanks usefulness in PvP combat if you can ghost right thru them?

They talked about this a little more. It's based on strength apparently. You can push through enemies, however depending on your strength you might never be able to push through an enemy. However when there's 2 of you against the same enemy you probably will be able to push through.

The CD system is based on where you are in the game. I must admit I am impressed.
The next question I would need to ask is about how CD works for Squigs because originally Squigs were supposed to be able to attack rear ranks. I seem to remember Herders were going to be able to hurt the enemies in back too so you're probably right about the LOS error unless it is a special attack.

And here is a direct translation via Google Translate (if you have trouble reading you should know translation programs are far from perfect)
Stealth
Ah, stealth. Everybody remembers well that there would be no system in total stealth WAR, which had excluded any class assassin game Well, this system is still being studied for the fury (Witch Elf I think)and répurgateur (Witch Hunter?). There is no definitive nor does rather than permanent stealth because it costs points actions. This is not a definitive system anyway.
So if you believe Wild_Bunny (original poster), the stealth system is apperently only being toyed around with and isn't a definite thing yet.
I look at the second video but I must have missed the stealth use so could you please indicate at what time in the video that it occurs.
If you had read my post you would see that i don't think stealth will ruin this game so what motivation do I have to "closing your eyes and put your fingers into your ears and go LALALALALALALA???"
And finally my point was is that all of this is based on some posted videos that no one seems to aggree about what they're seeing in them and some anonymous forum posts which no one could consider conclusive proof to for anything.
I haven't read too much of the replies here but I will note that I think the way Stealth is being implemented is that your character will be drained of something so you cannot be invisible forever.
Don't forget, to get those points to spend, you have to first build them up in combat.
I really hope this isn't the devs going back on their position of no stealth in game.

A friend told me that the term they used in Paris was "Ambush" to some reporters. Don't you think that word clearly states what its all about...
Very soon EA Mythic will trademark the term : "Ambush" which is their word for Stealth.
Then they wont stop there. There are all the other points above which they will TM too. Then after everything that can be trademarked is. They will promote and market the game as the best of its type because no other company has a leg to stand on if they do the same.

I think Morg'th N'Throgon Only-War.com put it best when he posted:
I also want to state, before someone tries it..............They have NEVER said "No Stealth!" They have said "stealth, but not like in other MMOs". So let's keep that in mind too.....but again...the official stance at last actual official word is that there isn't any form of stealth in W.A.R. no matter what footage or videos may show.
That doesn't translate to them saying exactly "no stealth". It's what was stated that MBJ doesn't want. That's taking a huge liberty with what is said by Paul. That's not EAMythic saying "no stealth". And the recent phone interview I had with him, this came up. When the quote of "if there's stealth it won't be like it is in other MMOs" was mentioned, that's what was agreed on as the latest word to it. So...here we are!
This looks like another thing that people should just wait for the final word on before jumping to conclusions on.
Cheers!

Its already been posted in another thread but thought I should put it here. This is a post by General Manager, Mark Jacobs in the Warhammer online Vault over at ign.com:
Folks,
I'll comment more when appropriate on this issue but for now what I'm willing to say is simply this. The stealth that we had in DAoC or that can be found in WoW and/or other games is not in WAR now and I still have no intention of allowing it into the game. As some people have commented here and in other places, what they have seen is a system that allows for two of the lightly armored classes to close quickly with a target. There will be no combination of stealth + long-range damage dealing in the game. Two quick FYIs for ya. Some of the leaks regarding stealth have been, quite frankly, BS. During our last phase of testing there were some bugs in the implementation ("Gee, really Mr. Wizard, you had bugs in a Beta Test? I'm surprised!") of the classes closing/survival ability. Second, as our beta testers know, I have said that I will take out any system or sub-system that I believe is a net negative in terms of RvR enjoyment. And this is one of those sub-systems that would certainly be looked at amazingly carefully before we committed to it. One of the best parts of beta is the ability to iterate on existing systems as well to try other systems to see what works and what doesn't work.
The FYIs are the big reason I don't want to go into any more depth regarding what we are doing with this system. It is subject to change based on what I see over the next few weeks. Considering that we are about to begin a couple of major RvR test cycles, nobody should get worked up about what we have, don't have, might have regarding this issue, it's truly pointless.

Just to avoid confusion, it's slightly beyond being discussed, it's being tested, which of course does not make it certain ti will make release, but it does make it more likely unless they can come up with another way to cover for the classes shortcomings. ^^
Back pedaling on stealth? The game is delayed for a reason. They are not ready and I sense they are getting nervous. PvP RvR GvG is at the core nut their first thoughts on low armor high dps toons are not working out in the grand scheme opf WAR. They seem to be trying different approaches. Too bad. I hope they come up with something besides invsibile backstab in broad daylight on a lush plain that does triple damage. If they dont I wont give this game a look. Invisible enemies in illogical places is irrational and makes me very iritated. lol

Oh and don t worry about being invis backstabbed it won t happen. They stated if this is in "Ambush" as they call it lets you sneak around but you lose power quite quickly actually, and you can t do any critical moves off of it. So it s useless imo and a measure to get around a corner amd rest is all IMO

Will this be doable if the character is in plain sight? You and nine of your guildmates see someone and bam he is gone/camo/stealthed/whatever.
No one can tell you because nothing is finalized at this point. They could have taken stealth back out already for all you know.

How long will it be before stealth classes become overpowered.
In previous stealth classes in MMO.. they required very little skill to play.
From what I seen in the video it seemed they actualy require skill.. How many whines will it take to get to the center of the stealth pop?
Will not take much and they will be over powered....
Mythic has made a big mistake and actualy have gone back on their word.
Not having stealth shuts alot balance issues and their doors. Now Pandora's Box is open again and it will soon be time to reap the harvest of it.
