I few things to have in mind

1. This game isnt' in beta, so when you're asking for "proof" about:

  • Professional Reviews - There aint any - I never read any alpha reviews before.
  • Show us videos, no lame screens - I admit they're few, but the game is in alpha. So I don't hate them for that.
  • We can only provide information based on from Aventurines words and media.

2. The game dosn't exist;

  • Immature statement, no valid information available - We can fall back on a company that exist and their journals and media.

3. Defensive vs. Offensive diskussions:

  • We are not in here to pick a fight, are you? When you start posting here with us you must have in mind that we support the development of this game.
  • If you are here to trashtalk the developers and game, then whine when we hit you back, what did you expect?
  • Whine when we respond to negativsm directed to Darkfall, but think it's ok for the trolls to post here. Moral?

    Good thinking Segg.

Maybe the DF haters could have a own forum section?

The only issue here is that people sometimes attack those of us that are in the middle, and classify us as trolls. This has happened to me quite a few times today alone, and I've not posted anything overly negative.

Aragon100 I'm looking at you...and the other guy who posted my bio in the other thread who you stated had the best response...his name escapes me right now.

I'm no troll, and I don't come here to hate. So constantly being told my posts are "babbling" or "ignorant" is unwarranted, and needs to be added to your list.

It's the vapourware trolls that don't exist. Their posts are just that, mere posts that don't actually prove that the trolls are anything other than some forum-posting computerised spam-bot. There's no evidence that there's any flesh-and-blood behind any of those vapourware posts.

I agree that the term 'vapourware' could be considered deliberately inflammatory, but that doesn't mean that the people who are sceptical about how far away the game might be from release don't have a legitimate viewpoint.

No-one is questioning how strongly the DF supporters & even the developers believe in the concept of the game, rather it is how close the concept actually is to becoming reality. It's possible that Aventurine are an extremely eccentric & perfectionist company who don't want anyone to see their creation until it is completely ready, but it is also possible that they are still struggling with serious development issues.

I suppose that's where it becomes a 'leap of faith' for some & the 'straw that broke the camels back' for others.

If you can't "Have your cake & eat it too", then how can "The proof of the pudding be in the eating"?

Aoc was bringing their game to conventions a year before it went into beta.

So if the Darkfall devs can't even show a working version of the game, it seems they are farther than a year away from beta.

I post some rather negative things in this Forum, but if you look at the defensive stances the fans of the game take you'd understand where I'm coming from.

It's not that I chose to be negative, but the moment some of us post, we get flamed regardless of what is posted.  Not everything is peachy in the world of Darkfall... and I'm not talking about Development of actual game, I'm talking about the fanaticism.

In most situations, somebody who blindly follows will be the biggest threat to the system itself.  There's nothing wrong with believing in the idea behind Darkfall, there's something wrong with believing it regardless of ANYTHING evidence to the contrary.

And no, that's not a knock on the game.

It's also quite possible that they've figured out how to do all these things, but the Funcom people were right: the technology is just not there yet.  If that's the case, maybe they're waiting for technology to catch up to their ideas of granduer.

    See?  Compromise.

    It works.

The irony of this coming from you, "The Chronicle" kid. It's too hard to hold back the laughter. Atleast it's good to know that you are finally jaded (like us MMORPG vets) and a little less naive. Your statements still aren't profound.

Aye, but they also have a strong PR department. Aventurine has Tasos. When they ready for it they should hire more people to expand the PR.

I don't know how this work in this branch, in the end we'll see how it turns out.
