Don't waste your time and money on this one...SOE and LA have done their best to kill this game. With the poor showing of Chapter 9, their mission is almost complete. It's sad when a game of this magintude is just getting by on 9,000 subs. It looks like this is it...
People DO NOT waste your Time or Money on this steaming pile of shit. Besides it wont be here much longer.

This game died when the owners decided that they didn't want their sub base anymore, they wanted WOW's, and deliberately drove them off for that new target audience.
Which apparently does not exist.

I think the devs use a free account when bug fixing and testing, but when playing in their free time they would need to buy their own account.

You can dream that there are actually that many people playing.
So many people seem to forget that this game was pretty bad even before the NGE.
It's launch was terrible, worse than Vanguard's. The only thing that pulled it up through its horrible launch was the Star Wars logo attached to it. It was buggy and had broken illogical systems (Jedi anyone?) And when Jedi were discovered the game quickly became either farming to get a force sensitive character, or becoming a bounty hunter. Great concepts in this game, terrible execution, and the NGE was the finishing blow.

You're mostly right Sig. The launch was a disaster. I beta'd the thing and was there amidst the testers protests about launching such an unfinished product. I decided to not play it at launch, then lo and behold, I found an open box copy sitting in the defective item bin at Wal-Mart (somebody bought it not knowing there was monthly fee, and decided to return it, I was lucky they didn't use the key), so I decided to take the chance. When I logged in (in Feb 04, a few months after launch) I was BLOWN AWAY by how awesome it had gotten. Yes there were bugs, but things were working, and the community had gelled nicely. I think it was the golden era if SWG around that time. Then came the CU and things started going downhill around then.
The reason I bring this up, is so people know that the amount of hate for SOE right now is only due to the amount of love we had for the game back then. Yes it did launch bad, no denying that, but the game DID get good... really good. That is why we mourn it's loss, not (just) because of the SW logo on the box.

Well since you can't prove them wrong.. how can you say they are "phony" and NOT the gospel truth. SOE doesn't release those... so trying to call that person a liar.. would present a logic problem.. since you cannot prove them incorrect.. you are also implying there are more subscribers.. which you can't prove.

I logged in at prime tme afew days ago and personaly saw 10 other players and talked to two others. So there are just 8987 more to verify

Ergo, I call bullshit. SOE hasn't released subscription numbers in a long time, so can I provide a number? No -- but that doesn't mean I can't look at my monitor and know that the number that was paraded out by the above poster was an outright falsehood.
