I'm wondering how effective this kind of tank will actually be...
I've read from users on different forums, that they're "guessing" that these types of tanks will simply receive evasion bonuses instead of shield bonuses. Another potential use would be fighting numerous, slightly less challenging enemies at once (i.e. a mana-burn nuke party).
How do you foresee the polearm guardian? Do you think they're just going to be for fun, or will they actually possess the potential and the prowess needed to have any sort of benefit over the Sword/shield Guardian.
Waiting for something fresh to arrive on the MMO scene...

Hmm...evasion bonuses as apposed to damage mitigation bonuses....reminds me a lot of the differences in powersets in CoH for tankers.
If that's the case than I think their effectiveness overall will be equal to sword and board Guardians. Each will still have their own advantages for example, possibly less healing needed for the Polearm Guardian as apposed to the sword/shield Guardian, but more chance of getting unlucky and receiving a "killing blow".
I believe that FunCom is going the way of having all the "tanks" being able to deal with the tanking position with the same effectiveness they just might go about it in different ways.
No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-
