Okay, I'm freaking out here..
I just read that the minimum processor for AoC is 3GHz...
The one I already bought, and am waiting patiently to be delivered has a Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Q6700 2.66GHz 8MB Cache 1066MHz FSB
Did I just screw myself bigtime for buying that or what?? Obviously I don't know that much about the newer hardware

That processor gives you 2.66 X 4. I think you will actually only be using 2 of the cores since i dont think there is anything that uses all 4 yet (may be wrong on that) but that still gives you 5.32 GHZ.
You should be fine for many years to come. Now, how about your video card, now that could be a problem.
Dont worry if they say a 3GHz they mean a single core so yours will be perfect.

This site should help. Shows how good your computer will work on games.
Cool, thanks! I'll give that a go

I have some nice florida property in the swam...err Lake area that you might be interested in! Ill even write alien on the side of the house!
Ya, i think its safe to say that you are fine computer wise.
But methinks you paid a bit too much just to have Alienware written on the side. Not that i know what you spent on it.
Thats how companies like alienware make their money by selling overpriced systems to people that know nothing about computers. Good thing for alienware there are so many lazy, technologically handicapped people out there with more money than sense.
To the OP, you'll be fine, if not, this game would tank anyways due to HW req's being way too high.

To the OP: your rig is good enough for most games in town now, and basically any game about to launch. No problem there.
Some of the people here are very knowledgeable about HW. They built their own rigs, and they take pride in finding the best piece at budget price. They will see alienware and most of the branded sets as too expensive for what was delivered. On the other hand, for other people who have no time, knowledge nor desire to dirty their hands, its perfectly alright to pay for the work and QC. Likewise, some people build their own garage, their own fishing boats, others buy them. No big deal there.
I understand that DX10 is still being enhanced, and drivers for 8800 would be updated regularly. Watch out for that.
its funner building your won rig...:)
Amen to that! It's better making all that money AND building your own rig. That leaves even more money to blow on other things!

Calling someone technologically handicapped because they don't give a shit about building a PC is wrong. Some people have the money to just buy what they need and probaly have better things to do with their time than building pc ,me included.
Get off your low horse and get out a bit more, in fact get yourself a girl or a boy ,which ever you prefer.
Cant buy that one. Fits my furniture well :P
You scare me just a little.
that'll do fine. ouch, alienware man? in the future you should post on forums, I am sure someone can come up with something better/cheaper, or the same/cheaper =P
Supreme commander uses quad cores btw.
For the first 20-25 times, maybe. Now I don't want to even open up the case and would gladly pay someone for something as simple as change a fan.
I wonder who's happier in life? The guy who perhaps over-spent on a PC but is so financially secure that he's still happy and doesn't care? Or the rude angry internet nerd that boasts his technological skills on a forum as if it makes his pathetic existence cool? Maybe one day when you stop working at McDonalds you'll realise there's more to life.
AoC forums have really become a trollfest lately.

LOL.. I dont think the other guy is jealous. He did say it was a tax return, so if he's getting back that amount, then he's far from making tons of money. He would be paying back if he was doing so well.
