The #1 issue for current players is wanting server merges (which they won't get.... it's too hard for the current devs apparently) or free transfers (which $OE will not do because it would "cost" them money to allow).
The game is simply a broken, shallow, weak, buggy, unfun mess. That is why almost no one (comparatively speaking) plays it.

The only people playing SWG are those die hard Star Wars fans who cling the game because they're afraid there will never be another Star Wars MMO. These folks have accepted everything SOE has thrown at them for years because they have no other SW game to go to. Eventually they'll wake up and realize the game is crap and it's run by a company that couldn't properly manage its way out of a paper bag.

That's a lie. I played SWG Friday night @ 10 PM and took almost 50 screenshot. As soon as I post them I will prove that the servers are dead. On Flurry I counted 30 total people between Mos Eisley and Rustess, and 1/2 of them were AFK.
On Bloodfin I counted 50 - 60 people in Mos Eisley and Rustess. I talked to an elder TKM for a long time and he confirmed what we already know...
a.) He and most vets that still play HATE the new game.
b.) The new players are lame.
c.) The servers are dead.
I even gave him as many of my vet rewards as I could. The servers are dead. 1 person in Coronet between 3 different servers. 1 person and that was a Friday night!!!

Actually, you're wrong, it's a Jedi Mind trick. Now that everyones a jedi, why not?
To the OP and everyone else that just wants people to shut up and play this NGE.
Think of star wars galaxies as a pizza. Everyone likes their sandwich different. Now take a pizza with 32 toppings and you can have any of those toppings you want on your pizza at any time.
That sounds pretty enjoyable. Instead, SOE wants you to eat a pizza with just a whole lotta 1 topping. Now if you like that topping thats great, but when you take my diversity away you take away what I enjoy the most about pizza....AND star wars galaxies. Maybe when they bring that back I might consider giving it another go.
Well some galaxies might not have a lot of people playing on them, but that doesn't mean the game as a whole is not successful. The true sandbox mmo that Galaxies is makes it appear empty, while in fact there are a lot of people playing. They are just spread out over a lot of servers and over a massive amount of space. I know some people enjoy bashing this game because they got nothing better to do and they can't swallow their pride and admit they are wrong - but that is just really pathetic. Because you can all download this game and go to pretty much any server and you would enjoy the game a lot more than what it was PRE CU. The game is a lot more balanced and there are still lots of people playing. More than 100.000 players and compared to many other mmos that is a pretty darn successful amount for an mmo. Maybe we don't have 250k like people claim we had, but we can have even more if you guys stopped making bad pr for this game that you can't really justify.

LOL! Don't forget the "wait for the cool, new grouping tool that will help you find the hordes of players that are really on your server, but are /anon."
I'm just fed up with the viral marketing that goes on in this forum. The fanboism these guys use to mislead potential players is just as bad as SOE handling the playerbase.
I am going to log back on and get screenshots of every place I can so hopefully people like Obraik, Sam, Unmax, and a select few others will be silenced when it comes to populations and the health of the game.
Please let the NGE talk die, no one here at this site can take it anymore.......if i could earn a penny for every NGE SUX thread, i would have enough money to relaunch Star Wars Galaxies.....after so many years, i think its time to let it go and move on people......

I enjoyed the game before they removed 2/3 of the classes and having no idea what my opponent might be able to do when I was eradicating rebel scum from the galaxy.
I enjoyed the game before it became standard practice for the devs and SOE to lie to the players about what was going on.
I enjoyed the game when there were people to socialize with and there was a community that wasn't divided by the ill manners of the game company.
I enjoyed the game when cities and player cities were crowded with people to interact with.
I enjoyed the game when --> SONY <-- claimed there was over 250,000 players.
I enjoyed the game when there were these things called EXPANSIONS which you may not remember since it is coming up on THREE years without hint or even plan of one.
I enjoyed the game when NPCs observed the same game mechanics that the players did and didn't shoot through walls and mountains.
I enjoyed the game before SOE thought it was a good idea to take a big steamy dump on their current customers and abandon them in favor of some mythical customer who wasn't even interested in playing their product no matter how many times they completely rewrite the game.
I enjoyed the game before everything became the fault of players and former players.
In the end I can point to the people who have swallowed their pride just to play a game with the name Star Wars on it and then defend the actions of the company that doesn't care for them. SOE turned their back on the players and never once tried to correct their mistake let alone formally apologize. In fact I can also point to the company that also needs to swallow its pride about its mistakes and correct them.
As for the bad PR for this game... It isn't like people just decided one day to not like the game/company for no reason. I am sure you have heard the old saying that you reap what you sew.
Despite all of that, this game has been a 5 year train wreck. None of which is the players fault.

Aye, you care so little you've devoted your entire sig to the cause. Even going so far as to quote someone who has, over time, changed his mind about the matter and switched sides. Better yet, the argument has grown so thin, that while the vets still provide points of debate (in the form of numbers, screenshots, opinions, ect) you have chosen to go with...absolutely nothing.
But, I will concur that no one really cares anymore. Not so much because no one cares about what happened...but because no one really cares about SWG. At all, even. Most people are playing one of the other 'good' games and are waiting for the next crop of MMO's to come out. They have no interest in the silliness that goes on in a dying game, or its dying forums. They equally don't care two-bits about the goings on of SOE when there are so many other great MMO companies both already WITH games...and news ones making games now.
Those that linger here only do so to spare the one or two stragglers that even bother to LOOK up these ancient and archaic games. SWG was never a blockbuster...and never received any massive acclaim. It doesn't hold the 'old school' appeal and draw of things like EQ and UO. Its entire history pretty much lives solely in the minds of the vets...and the handful of current players, most of which are essentially Star Wars fans that have no other Star Wars game to play. Of even that number, most of the vets have long since moved on and joined the crowd that doesn't even acknowledge the existence of either SOE or SWG.
In the end, you're so very right. No one cares. Just like no one cares about the goings on in Dark and Light, Matrix Online, Runescape, and Shadowbane. Its all old news, and it wasn't very interesting or fun when it was new news regardless. The absolute truth in that makes me the saddest, because SWG was on track to have one of the most unified communities of any MMO made at that time. Had it not dropped the ball...even if the game never was a legendary success, it would still hold that one element over the heads of all other MMO's and could have done great things in the way of evolving the industry as we know it.

You'll find that every games company makes games for the minority, as there are 6 billion people on the planet.
Account has been stolen, why would someone want to steal my account?
Trying to tell everyone the game they hate is better than the game they loved isn't the way to do it though.
Enjoy the NGE.
I was once a nice guy, a people guy. Since the NGE, I'm straight dark side... the hate for the NGE is a powerful tool and it provides me with 'UN-LIIIMMMIITTTEEDD PPOOOOOOWWWEEERRR!!!!!'

What I found most interesting in what he said was this: He sees enough vets that even making a penny each he stands to get rich...but SOE didn't think our 15$ a month was 'good enough'.
I'd have to agree, I'd easily accept a penny a week from each of them.
Also, to Sam:
Do you want the Gods honest truth? I, like basically everyone else on this site, only go to forums at all because its fun for me to read and discuss things. I sometimes act like I care a great deal about things in the heat of an argument, but truth be told...I only generally care about a handful of things in my life at all. None of those things are video games, though I do enjoy playing them quite a bit.
But, don't misunderstand. Just because I have no care for SWG doesn't mean I think SOE's mistake should be shoved under the rug. They have to be made to regret that choice for the rest of their business life because they have shown that, unless they are constantly reminded of how stupid they are, they will continue to make poor choices. In fact, they've proven that they'll still make poor choices anyway...but at least to a lesser degree. You can bet that, at any time they feel they have gotten away with it, they will be very willing to repeat that choice. While I may not ever play an SOE game again, lots of you will...and I certainly do not want them doing to YOU what they have done to me.
Glad you like the game. Trying to tell everyone the game they hate is better than the game they loved isn't the way to do it though. Enjoy the NGE. I was once a nice guy, a people guy. At least you admit we're making a difference.
Install SWG on at least 1 server please !

$OE - eternal enemy of online gaming
-We finally WON !!!! 2011 $OE accepted that they have been fired 2005 by the playerbase and closed down ridiculous NGE !!
"There was suppression of speech and all kinds of things between disturbing and fascistic." Raph Koster (parted $OE)
Get ready for the "there are thousands of players but they are so spread out you can't find them and take screenshots of them!" argument.
No... no... no. The "they're all hiding" argument is next.
Tecmo Bowl.
Please let the NGE talk die, no one here at this site can take it anymore.......if i could earn a penny for every NGE SUX thread, i would have enough money to relaunch Star Wars Galaxies.....after so many years, i think its time to let it go and move on people......
It pretty much is dead, these people have to make around three threads each a day to keep the forum alive - they're running out of things to discuss and they know this. The argument has grown thin and noone cares anymore.

I am glad you have finally accepted it, In some says i am sad the hate is dying, it's all ways entertaining.
Account has been stolen, why would someone want to steal my account?
Unfortunately no one can get rich collecting penny's that way from "i love NGE" threads ...these should show you the big imbalance and that $OE develops for a small minority and not for the vast majority ...

You'll find that every games company makes games for the minority, as there are 6 billion people on the planet.

Glad you like the game.
Trying to tell everyone the game they hate is better than the game they loved isn't the way to do it though.
Enjoy the NGE.
I was once a nice guy, a people guy.

Even the current SWG players.
He was expressing his opinion, he didn't try to pass it off as fact.
Account has been stolen, why would someone want to steal my account?
Pardon me.
You are correct.
