Truly Odd race/class combo choices

Reading the "what class are yooOoOOo gonna be?" threads on many forums i have been confronted by an oddity indeed it seems that the likely half of future players are not choosing there races based on the numbers best for their classes, though im sure most choices are affected by it, but people are choosing funky race choices just to be different image i applaud that behavior, i myself shall be choosing a gnome shadowknight for that very reason and because can't you just imagine how cool looking image well i was wondering for you all out there who have already chosen a race/class combo, was your racial decision affected by stats? or did you simply choose what you thought would be fun and cool for your class?

    I agree Psouth.  Everyone seems to be doing the classic combo bit, or even making the same thing they did in EQLive.  I guess I can understand that they are sticking with something they may be good at.  But I have a deeper desire to explore.  There is a reason that they are doing any class/any race, and I wish more people would take advantage of it. 

    Myself, I'm certain to start with a Froglok.  Their starting stats are almost similar to Humans.  So I won't summer to badly.  But I'm basing my decision more on the fact that I love Frogloks image.  As for race I'm diggin the whole scout tree, BUT I think a Froglok Monk/Bruiser would absolutely FROCK. (sorry) A froglok druid might be something exlporing too.  I can't make up my mind!  I need that pre-order disc NOW so I can start mixin' and matchin'.  Sorry for the rambling
