I liked WoW, but I don't feel like wasting another second of my life on that game, like FFXI but want something more to do besides look for group all day, and like Ragnarok but hate the slow leveling. Any suggestions?

EVE-GREAT GAME
LOTRO- I HEAR IRS A GREAT GAME
DAOC- OLD BUT STILL A GREAT GAME
join the club. try the lotro 7day trial you may end up subscribing. i gave it a go and ended up subscribing to it hopefully it'll hold me until war. if it doesn't i think i'll try vanguard next probably gonna try it after gu5 anyways.
I think Housams suggestions are on the mark. Of those, if you want quick leveling, DAOC is easily the quickest grind. Also consider Guild Wars where the grind is also quick.
Good Luck

I'm a prior WoW player as well, I have LoTRO holding me over until I can try AoC. I also tried EQ2 for a while, it wasn't bad but there was something...not right, I never figured it out, but for some reason I just didn't enjoy it.
So far in LoTRO I've gotten a character up to level 10 and done a few monster battles and have to say I've had a great time so far. The big perks for me are the story, which is obvious, but also having the big named characters from the books talking to your character and intertwined in your quests from the beginning is fun. Also, the player base seems friendly, however, they aren't a lot of people there. The people I have grouped or chatted with have been very helpful. My first group I was shocked as I was making some newbie mistakes and instead of flames or harassment I got advice and pointers.
I've also played a little with the crafting system, which seems fairly solid so far, nothing spectacular that I've seen, it just plain works.
Your quests are also divided into the main storyline (epic) and side quests which I think is a pretty cool feature. I just did an "epic" quest last night where I went with a NPC to an evil dwarven village to rescue a captive elf. The whole event is scripted and actually quiet exciting to me. As we are going along there's dialog being spouted back and forth between the bad guys and the NPC I'm with, as well as the NPC I'm with conversing with my character. Then at the end of the camp there's a nice bit of trash talk with the boss before we start to whoop on him.
This to me makes it exciting. Granted, I'm still not very far progressed, however, if the game stays like this I may keep this one going.
Yup LOTRO stays like that throughout the entire adventure!

I've canceled WoW effective sometime before the end of this month. I'm just bored of it. Since I have a new computer, I'm running the trial of lotro and I'd suggest you try it if you haven't. It's similar to WoW in the controls and the way you use your abilities, but the similarities kind of end there. The classes can be likened to WoW classes, but not duplicates of the classes.
The only class I really have issue with playing in lotro so far is the minstrel. He pulls out his little guitar and plays it to do damage to the enemy and buff himself. It's a little silly and not very LotR IMO. If you have a nice computer, it's a really impressive game. Swaying grass/flowers, dynamic shadow effects, etc. It's got everything you think it should have. Although, I would like less asian fantasy armor and more middle-earth looking stuff.
so...
