Does your avatar actually 'rest'?

This may be a crazy question, but I was thinking...its prefered to rest inside town at say, an inn right?  Well, when you rest and logout of the game, is your character taken out of the game?  Or is he/she just sleeping in that in, inactive, until you log back on?  Basically, will I log on someday down the road and find my character dead due to a raid in the town where I was resting?

If your avatar stayed resting in the inn, attackable and everything, that means you'd likely have hundreds of sleeping avatars in the same building (that's bad). You just bascially log out in an inn and your avatar logs off. Don't have to worry about being killed in your sleep at all.

You can log off anywhere, but if you log off in an inn you gain rest much faster than anywhere else.

Yes, because for some reason those Undead coffins are just SO comfortable [/sarcasm]

I can't remember where I saw the picture, but it was quite funny to see a Tauren sleeping in a coffin in the Inn in the Undercity. Hard to imagine some huge cow like that, accustomed to wide open spaces in Mulgore or their home city of Thunder Bluff which overlooks the entire area around it could possibly get rest locked up underground inside of a wooden box.

It's being encouraged to find an inn before logging off, but if you don't care about the tiny bit of bonus exp (it doesn't go under 100% anymore) you can just log off anywhere. Although I think when you log off out of an inn ur avatar stays there attackable and everything for a little while.
