the only thing players can do is complain loudly enough so that the management of that particular MMO does something about it.

Like WoW where the farming accounts are being banned daily.

I used to camp farmers in WoW

it was the only time me and the alliance really got along and didnt try to kill each other

I like what Runescape did when they stopped the ability to transfer stuff to your newbies..

I haven't seen any bots on cutting yew logs lately... it's like they said eff this and went back to making lead toys for walmart

and all they really did was enforce a law they've had for as long as I can remember..

All they'd really have to do is keep transaction logs of all the players and the trades they make and in the terms in big red letters at the top and the bottom put "We Keep tabs on all of the transactions, so buy gold and we're gonna ban your ass."

lineage 2 we PKed the fuck out of them.

that was before the first major patch where when you delevel because of karma you didn't keep your insane skills.(in wow terms a level 20 that can use all the level 70 abilities)

but it did no good whatsoever.

since the games management was korean, and a lot or most of the farmers were korean we stood no chance of stopping them in any way.

Just stop playing a game in which game developers are seen to be helping the bots.

Somehow that means every game, is it?  I do not know, every game has farmers, just look at the list of games advertised by these gold farmers sites.

As for not buying gold, sure.  As for transaction logs, that is tuf.  I sometimes gave tons of mats to my gf's alt and some gold to buy the recipes, so that she can grind crafting.  So we both go banned?  Sweet.

I think, as long as there are rich but busy/lazy players who want everything at an instance, there is no stopping gold farmers and plevelers.

Yup, what runescape did was a great move. And it's not irritating. The system works as this.

So person A(3000 wealth GP)wants to sell a log to person B and a log is worth 100 gp if you buy it in the grand exchange. Person B says i'll give you 200 gp for it. Then Person A loses 100 gp of wealth. And you can only lose 3000 gp of wealth every 30 minutes. If you go over your 3000gp wealth then person A can't sell logs anymore for 200 gp but only for 100 gp. That way he doesn't loses wealth GP.

IM not for Gold buying either. However, Ive come to the realization that its a business that is desired by a larger amount of the MMORPG players. At this time, My feeling is that I wont buy it and I wont advertise it on my site but I will no longer berate others as evil.

However, I just finished a review of which games have the most Currency sellers. Using The MMORPG Finder (below) , you can now search for games which have less online gold selling. As a caveate to those who want to buy gold (As I said, Im no longer berating) you can also search for games which have more online gold selling available (But I refuse to advertise where).

    Hope this helps

The only way to stop gold farmers is for players to stop buying it.  If there's a market for farmed gold, someone will provide it.

Here's a picture of gold farming operation:

Don't dis the gold farmers. Dis the crappy game design that makes people want to pay other people to play a game for them. If you didn't have to grind and bash 2000 monsters to scrape together the gold for a mount, then there would be a lot less incentive to buy gold. People buy gold because a part of the game isn't fun and they want to skip that part. Developers are creating the gold market by creating these grinds.

Gold farmers are pond scum that should be lined up against the wall and forced to watch reality elimination shows.

The people who buy from gold farmers should be bent around their fathers' knees and beaten until they scream "no more gold."

As long as losers buys gold, losers will sell it. Fact of the beast

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
