What if this happens in AoC...

So a guild is besieging the battlekeep of another guild... then all of a sudden several members of the defending guild leave the guild whilst within the battlekeep and join the opposing guild. They begin to pick off the defenders from behind particularly the juicy casters and rangers.

This may sound far-fetched but with the right amount of gold, members could be contacted prior to a siege and then sent invites as soon as they leave. It could take a lot of planning and talking to the right people, but it is possible no?

I say it should be allowed.. then it would matter if you can trust your guild or not =)..

Brings a bit more politics into it..

The problem is, from what I understand, two guilds go at it in an instance.  If you drop your guild tag, IMHO, the instance should boot you then and there.  These battle keeps are AoC's version of Screw Your Neighbor, so I'm sure people will find ways to infiltrate/destroy major guilds from within.  Remember, the best laid plans are those set in motion before the server names are even announced.

I wouldn't be surprised if many of these large guilds already had spies in them from other guilds to keep tabs on their compeition.  It's been done before, it will be done again in the future.

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware

"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."

Lineage 2 solved this issue by allowing guild switches every 7 days. Thus even if you dropped one guild in the middle of the week, you couldn't participate in the castle sieges of another guild in the same week.

I doubt there will be any sort of booting from the zone. We're talking about the keeps and not the player cities in this case. I even doubt you'll be kicked off the zone of a player city when you leave a guild either.

The spy alts is always a possibility, especially the larger the guild.

  • Sounds like fun. Betray your own guild. If you wanna be strong, join a strong guild and then betray them too when yet another stronger guild comes knocking on your door. ^^
