My Monitor Flickers...

Joshua69Joshua69 Member UncommonPosts: 953

My Monitor will randomly go black for a second...I just got a new Graphy Card but it started doing this a little bit before I installed the other one anyway. Any Idea why? I have a 8400 256 Nvid Graphy, 2 Gig Ram and a Intel dual core 3.0 procc.

have you checked the online support website if you have one? i believe LG and Dell are quite similar but the online question page sorted me out

Have you tried downloading the newest driver's for your graphic card?

Not sure if it is a problem with your graphic card as you said you had the problem with another graphic card before,Though I would certainly try with newest driver's.

I know some people have had problems with vista and the 8000 series cards where the driver stopped working, but you would normally get some sort of warning telling you the display driver stopped working.

If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

If you had that problem with the old gfx card, its probably not your card then, or driver.

did you touch anything inside your pc before it happened?

do you get more then one beep when you start up your pc?

    could be a bad psu.

Half the time if it ONLY happens while gaming, you can start sorting a few things out by 1st making sure that it's isolated to a specific game title. If that's the case, then:-

    1. Display drivers. Before anything download a fresh one. "Normal" uninstall by the ctrl panel 1st, reboot then use an utility such as Driver Sweeper (google Guru3D) to remove possible leftovers. Reboot again then install the driver.

    2. The game. Check for any patches should the game actually does have the related graphics' issue and if the patch covers the fix.

Hmm.. but wait a sec? You said that this has been going on before you popped in that newer 8400?

And yes it could also be power issues.

Try replacing the Power cord and VGA cables that run to your monitor. If the power cord is built in see what happens if you wiggle the connection where the cord meets the monitor.

Also if you have access to another computer, hook your monitor up to it and see if it goes black. If it doesn't you know its something with your PC, if it does then its the monitor.
