I have to say i m impressed. I m a huge WAR fan and will be playing it no matter what at it s release....but i m getting more impressed with this game as time goes by. I am truly bored to tears with the games out there atm and look forward to the 20 th. I need a new MMO fix and this will do a good job to fill that void. Now to decide on a class, i m usually a tank type but like dps :)

Yep I am the same as you, although I was following TCoS after that got delayed again I did alot more research into this game and I have to admit I am liking just about everything I read.

If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

Yup the main reason I'd try AoC is to fill the months until WAR comes out.

If my comp can run it, I'm not a tech god  (yeah yeah yeah I've heard the argument it can be run on average PCs).

    --------------------------------------
A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

Then you should check out "conqueror". From what I can tell it's a dual wielding class that can tank.

Ya thats the class i m leaning towards. Now the wife i have to convince her to play , she s dead set on playing nothing till WAR comes out :) I ll just pick her up a copy too without telling her. Thats how i got her into MMO s in the first place :)

I'm the same way only I was looking forward to Spellborn, and then after that Earthrise and Champions.  WAR has dropped off my list sadly.

This means that Conan is going to have to hold me over for a hell of a long time.

I'm with the OP, I'm REALLY looking forward to WAR....

The thing is, I may feel like i think your wife does....what's the point of playing something else?

Sure it looks like there are good things in AoC, but its not the same RvR content Im looking forward to in WAR.

Clearly the upside is that its out now not later.

Right now I'm leaning towards not trying out AoC, I'm hoping the usually summer outdoor fun makes me not miss playing an mmo.  Think it'll work?

Yeah I had both of those problems as well actually.
    1. Convincing a significant other to play an MMO I want to.
    2. Having a significant other who plays MMOs in the first place.

    Bewaaaaaaaaare!

Seriously though I was really bummed out to find that when I finally got into beta it required a 4GB FREAKIN' PATCH that took more than the 3 hours they opened the stinking server for to download. So unfortunately I can't give you an inside scoop on how well conquerors really do tank :/

Like it matters in reality anyways. There isn't anything else coming out for half a year so I'm pretty much committed to buying it anyways.

Hehe good point with the summer thing. She just doesn t want to spend 3-6 months at something only to drop it. I can understand that. I ll just pay for all 4 subs 2 for AOC and 2 for WAR. If i m paying for it she ll go for it lol. That being said i m sure when WAR comes out i ll play AOC a few times the first month or 2 unless it s just that good then we ll see:). I have alot of friends playing WAR and only WAR so i ll have a hard time not playing it alot aespecially the first few months.

Here's hoping WAR is anywhere near as polished as wow because i'm still subscribed to that @#$% game for the 9th time and hating every minute of it >.<

If you get an extra WAR beta key toss it my way and I'll make it worth your while lol.

You may be sad to read the review at mmogamer.com where he compares WAR in every way besides RVR to WoW, but not up to par with WoW.  At least there is the RVR for you though.

i think i convinced her already lol took like 10 mins. When it comes down to it she s probably a bigger mmo addict then me:) to think 5 years ago she said no way to p2p games. I remember her saying and i quote "who in the hell is dumb enough to pay for a game every month after you paid 30-60 already". Hehe she didn t realize all the new content and whole social thing to them. Now she gets more stir crazy then me when the batch available becomes stagnant. Well i guess i ll have to do some research on a damaging healer type for her lol. She loved the Cave Shaman in DAOC. i really talked myself and the wife into liking this game in a couple days lets hope it lives up to some of the hype i gave myself.

*nudges in the direction of Bear Shaman or Tempest of Set*

Those are the two Healers that can do decent damage as far as I've seen it.
