Hey guys, guess who?!

SerienSerien Member CommonPosts: 8,460

Hey all!

Back once again, it has been a long, long time.

A brief overview (for those that care to read it) which would explain my second disappearance -- I was on my way back to my University after visiting my parents for the weekend because I was about to be deployed that coming week in October ( I'm in the United States Marine Corps), on my way back to UNF and got slammed head on by a drunk driver.

Was in the hospital the better part of half a year, out recently, can't walk ...yet. But at least I'm able to get back in touch with people. As a matter of fact I've kept up with my facebook (digressing, but if you want to find me just search for "Bijani" and I'm "Murt or Mike Bijani")

Pictures from my wreck are at this link www.facebook.com/album.php -- I was pronounced dead on site and flatlined 11 times within a week, sooooo I'm lucky to be alive. Nonetheless I have been honorably discharged from the USMC (not sure why it was "honorable", I got hit by a freakin' drunk driver!). And my oldest brother (almost two years older than I) passed away late January.

The notebook I'm using isn't all that...great.  First off it contains Vista (blah), 2gb of ram, a dual core processor at 1.6Ghz, and a mobile Intel 965 express chipset at approximatley 358mb.

Any suggestions on how to pass time until I can get back to living my life? (in that manner, I mean suggestions on mmo's at the moment that are still fun, but will support this crap machine)

Thanks much! And I look forward to meeting old friends once again!

-Murt

wow, that's a nice ride man..

Well glad to hear you're still among us.

Well I guess you could play some mmorpg's to kill some time, that notebook should be able to run all of them.

  • SerienSerien Member CommonPosts: 8,460

I wish that were the case but the combination of Vista and this crappy graphics card are giving me trouble -- I wish I could get back to my desktop!

  • BigdavoBigdavo Member UncommonPosts: 1,863

Holy crap, I don't really know you but that's some pretty crazy shit that happened to you. Good to see you have a positive attitude about it.

    O_o o_O

Man. Glad you're OK. I was wondering what happened to you. I remember you saying something about joining the Marines and thought you were deployed. I hope that SOB got what he deserved and you at least get everything taken care of that you need.

Good luck in recovering. Are you unable to walk because of paralysis? If so, is it temporary? Keep us up to date.

  • unconformedunconformed Member Posts: 700

yes. my man. great attitude. keep your chin up. im guessing you really do feel lucky. wtg.

so, you are that guy. the type of guy that joins the marines when there is a war going on...

my best wishes and heartfelt condolences to you, sir.

Thank you all for your support, it is much appreciated--

which the emotional stress and combination of heavy narcotics my emotions have gone out of line so...yea, you get the picture.

As for DEKRON!!! Glad you're still around mate! But to answer, I shattered both hips, both femurs, both tibias, both fibulas, and both ankles -- basically I'm full titanium hips down

As for as the other posts, thanks for the encouragment, it means a lot to me - especially the comment about me joining the USMC during the time of war, yes, I am patriotic - maybe it just wasn't meant to be...

    God Bless

Well, at least you will have some fun in the airport at the security checkpoints.

Did the docs say you will be able to walk again?

Stop insulting the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, as a Pastafarian i am deeply offended.

Good luck on recovering, Serien. That car crash looked brutal.

Welcome back Murt, glad to hear you are ok, well I suppose your not all ok as that sounds like one hell of a crash, but you are alive.

What happened to the drunk by the way, he in prison?

I really hope he is, or worse.

None the less, as to games that you can run on that thing.

I suppose EVE would work, wich would fit well as it does not require all that much dexterity if you still suffer from some bodily harm.

WoW would probably run but I am loath to advice that game to anyone, much less the oldest vet on mmorpg.com ;)

Maybe pick up one of the really old ones and take a trip down memory lane?

AC, EQ or AO would probably work, and AO is free for the base game as well.

Anyhow, glad you are back and in what seems like good humor as well.

    Hey Umbrood!

Yea, that guy is in prison -- we went to court a couple months back (weird how they got me there...) He jumped out of his SUV before it slammed into my vehicle, his SUV burst into flames and eventually exploded--

As for the religion issue, my apologies, I did not mean to offend anyone.

Nonetheless, thank you all for your support! It feels great to have such a warm welcome back to the boards :)

*I just tried the free trial of LoTR Online and...I didn't really care for it. I think I might go wayyyy back to L2 possibly.

Not that I could state that I know you or even recognize anything else than your signature; but I must say that you're damn lucky to be alive. And for suggestions for MMOs I would recommend Guild Wars; I believe it can run on your computer, even if you have to turn some settings down and I can guarantee that I at least enjoy it.

Hey Murt!!  Good to hear from ya and glad to know your ok after what you have been through.  Good luck with the rest of your recovery.

That accident could've been avoided if the Drunk Driver was stoned instead of drunk. Anyways glad your still alive.

I just have one question.Did you start to float to heaven each time you flatlined? or is that just a myth?

  • xpyrofuryxxpyrofuryx Member CommonPosts: 1,587

wow, the famous Murt, you prolly never really knew me but I hear about you a lot. Anyway its nice to hear that youre ok after a thing like that. and I too am wondering; What was it like when you flatlined?

As you have undoubtedly realized, you don't know me.  Still, I feel terrible for the pain you've been put through, especially because of another's absolute stupidity.  It's miraculous, to say the least, that you survived that crash and I sincerely i hope you have a complete recovery.  I also second Godliest's recommendation that you check out Guild Wars to help you pass the time.

    damn murt that sucks.

We all had odd theories on where you went, and there was actually a pool at one point and the loser would have had to watch hilary duff movies for 24 hours strait............

Well I'm not really sure, this IS the first time I've been slammed head-on by one, and it did happen to be an SUV -- of course my car couldn't withstand that...

But you could be completely right on that one! hah, great to see you verg --

As for all that "talk" ...I'd like to read some of that stuff

Thank you for the consideration, even the bit from a person not known in person makes a difference, it is much appreciated.

Hey, you hear about me a lot!? Glad to hear I've been "kept alive" on the board :P

though I'm assuming a lot of the stuff wasn't of a respectful nature, haha

I never actually fainted, What happened was that after I had left my parents' house to head back to my University, about two hours into the drive I stopped at De Leon National Springs to see how the bass were biting. I remember pulling a few nice ones up, then loading my gear back into my car, and getting back on 95. The next thing I remember is waking up 3 weeks later in the hospital.

Due to the fact that I had died on impact, I suffered memory loss -- also attributed to the almost 7 minutes I went without resuscitation.

Wish I could tell ya, but the whole memory loss thing...I don't even remember being hit,  I just got the updates from the newspapers and police reports.

LUCKILY the only "brain damage" I suffered was memory loss -- apparently there was a huge worry, which would be understandable, that it would be much more severe.

    My good Gramps Flem!

Good God it has been a long time, I'm glad to see you're still on the boards!

How are things going? Still into EQ2? I might get back into that soon...might.

I appreciate the motivation to keep up with all these so-called "smaller" operations and therapy, much appreciated.

As for the first three months...geez, talk about operations! I've got scars that you wouldn't believe, hell, I don't even think I'd be able to get back out on a surfboard ever again (mostly  because of the damage, but also because of the scars!)

I'm going to power-nap, they taught us that is the Corps. After that I've got to get these bills sorted out, I'm sick of having my bills being called delinquent -- hell, I've been bedridden!!

Thank you all for your support, it is much appreciated :)

Hmm, I have a question. So the drunk guy had enough sence and reaction time to jump out of the SUV before it hit you? but not to swirv? or am i getting the story wrong?
