Does any one think the system requirements on the EQ2 website seem unrealisticaly low? Just from watching the videos i cant imagine that running it at ALL let alone well.... Do you guys think they are gonna change those minimum requirements?
Nope, it will stay the same. The screenshots you looked at were run on a good computer. That doesn't mean a lesser computer wil lag, but the graphics will be turned down a bit.
They ALWAYS keep them low because they want as much people to buy the game as possible. I meet over the reccomended specs for SWG and i couldn't even get over 15 FPS on it.
Playing: City of Heroes/ Dark Age of Camelot Upcoming: EverQuest II
-Operating System: Windows 98/2000/ME/XP -Processor: 1GHz or greater -RAM: 512 MB -Video Card: DirectX 9 compatible. Pixel shader and vertex shader compatible hardware with 64 MB of texture memory -Sound Card: DirectSound compatible audio hardware
Well the 1GHz does seem a bit low, 512mb is pretty decent, dx9 card is average, so the specs do not seem unrealistic...offcourse you will only be able to play the game on low resolution, low detail, low distance, low particals and in situation where are lot of people come together you will problably see some lag. But these requirements are what you need to play the game, not play it will alot of features on.
You know what I find funny... is that EQ2 and WoW have the same min requirements.... go figure...but I bet to enjoy EQ2 graphics youre gonna have to have alot more then the min requirements

Those are the minimum. The recomended are higher, and the better your computer is, the better the graphics will look. It allows the game to go much longer without the graphics looking dated and needing an overhaul. Most people will improve their computers over the years, and those who don't can still play the game. On the other hand, those companies which lowball their graphics will eventually (if they are lucky) wanting to upgrade their look, and they will end up leaving some players out in the cold. Planning ahead with a scaling graphics system is never a bad thing.
