Best MMO w/ Low System Requirements

xmoleculexxmoleculex Member Posts: 98

I'm currently stuck with a clunker laptop and won't be upgrading anything till much later this year. I'm looking for a good MMO to get into, but I'm really limited hardware-wise.

Can anyone recommend some NEW(ish) low system requirement games? I'm not looking for a shallow game though... nothing like Dungeon Runners. Graphics don't matter too much, but a decently mature community means everything.

Thanks

Games that play well on my system: UO, EQ1, Asheron's Call

Games that play so-so: WoW, DAoC, GW

Games that are right out: EQ2, Vanguard

maybe final fantasy XI, with low setting but its not going to be very nice

ragnarok online (dont know about the community though)

LotRo has also quite low system requirements.

But if your laptop is as bad as mine, even AO and UO will be a huge problem

If you get the old-engine version of EVE that should run OK.  I can run it well enough on my shitty laptop, since the graphics consist of static spaceship models and a space backdrop and some laser effects.

Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...

If you're only running WoW "so so" you aren't going to find much lower requirements.

All the browser games should be alright, but...the communities are often TERRIBLE.

And how is that any different than most MMOs?  The communities in the majority of MMOs really suck too.

Played: UO, EQ, WoW, DDO, SWG, AO, CoH, EvE, TR, AoC, GW, GA, Aion, Allods, lots more
Relatively Recently (Re)Played: HL2 (all), Halo (PC, all), Batman:AA; AC, ME, BS, DA, FO3, DS, Doom (all), LFD1&2, KOTOR, Portal 1&2, Blink, Elder Scrolls (all), lots more
    Now Playing: None
    Hope: None

Yeah anymore that's right, but some of them are okay. If you have a bit of luck you could find some valuable people.
