Ok After coming up with the Third Person vs. First Person view post (which I think turned out very well, thank you all) I've decided to ask....RP or Non-RP. I personally, will try to RP (though I lack any knowledge of lore), hopefully Open RvR RP if they have that kind of server.
Also to clarify the question, I am asking if you RP, not if you play on Rp servers.
Also, please no flaming those people who do RP.

I will RP a little bit, I like to make up Bio's and such for my characters and have them all conect in some way with the world they are in..
I will do a little bit of the rollplay 'speek' in chat, (it helps cover for my bad typing/spelling skills hehe...) just for some extra fun, but I don't usualy go over the top with it, and depends who i am gaimign with at teh time...
I would like to occasionally Rp, but unfortunately on RP servers general and rp chat usually break down to a couple of people arguing over their individual conception of what "Rping" is and it usually has the effect of completely ruining it. Too bad your poll didn't have an option: "I would RP if people would stop roleplaying RP nazis." /rant off
Cheers!
MMO Vet since AOL Neverwinter Nights circa 1992. My MMO beat up your MMO. =S
Depends if WAR has a good set of game mechanics to allow me to RP...
I've always RP'd a bit...I try to give my characters various personalities...but I wouldnt' really call it flat out serious role playing where I talk in proper speach other than to be funny and confuse people with no imagination rofl.
I just dont see any point in playing an MMORPG if your not going to breath some sort of life into your toon, to me toons are not avatars they're characters. I guess I sort of approach RPing in MMO's from a casual D&D kind of stand point. Stand around have a good laugh occasionally through out a WAAGH! or some crazy drunken dance or drunken race (if drinking affects your char god i used to love that in EQ1 drink a ton of booze and the screen would blur up and you'd run crooked lol)
Please Refer to Doom Cat with all conspiracies & evil corporation complaints. He'll give you the simple explination of..WE"RE ALL DOOMED!
"..please no flaming for those people who do rp" ----- > "RP is for nerds and sissies"
Sorry - i didn't have much choice in the matter :P
I don't rp just because i suck at it... and in a mmo environment it isn't always appropriate in any situation:
"I fink dat we could right do wiv takin’ out dat dark elf ’eala!"
"Dark elf wot?"
"Da dark elf ’eala! He’z ’ealin’ up all da dps!"
***YOU HAVE DIED***
No I'm not going to RP, no matter what happens.
I don't think the MMO genre lends itself very well to RP, unless you're good at ignoring people who don't RP. The old pen and paper RPG system allowed you to have good control over everything and only include people who wanted to stay in character. That's just not the case with MMOs.
I don't roleplay anymore, but even if I did I wouldn't choose to do it in an MMO. It can work, sure, but I just don't see it as the ideal platform for RPing. I play MMOs for the competitive/strategic aspect that only they can offer, just like I play FPS to get the other side of the coin. The term RPG as it applies to PC gaming has strayed pretty far from the original meaning.
Well...........
It would be really great if they could make an "official" RP server and then actually moderate it. Games like WOW make a half assed attempt at catering to the RP crowd by setting up servers designated for it but then they dont bother to moderate it. They need to do a better job of booting the troublemakers off when there are complaints.
Critical thinking is a desire to seek, patience to doubt, fondness to meditate, slowness to assert, readiness to consider, carefulness to dispose and set in order; and hatred for every kind of imposture.
To play Warhammer and not roleplay!
Are you kidding!
Waaaaaghhhhh!!!!!!
Sure i will roleplay
I find it amuzing that this poll shows that people enjoy RPing, however, when the games get released the RP goes straight out the window. I hope WAR facilitates RP better than WoW and other big MMOs. I can't stick with an MMO that has F-ed up player names and too many kids running around ruining the RP.
RP is a state of mind, Makes the game more enjoyable. Just ingnore the clutter and find a good RP Guild.
