it is nice that red finally get an epic at.

it is really nice.  i don't want to take away from that.

but, this whole closed beta/open beta testing of issues drags out anticipation far too long to keep my interest piqued.  i mean, there will be at least a couple of mmos which i'm interested in, by the time this 7-month-to-reach-new-issue comes out.

i figure i'll play around with them for a bit, see what new content they unlock.  do the couple of new story arcs that'll come out for the normal toons; then wait 7 months for the next issue.

i find myself at the same spot i've been a number of times with the 'city of' franchise -- it's a nice game with a lot of potential; yet, they're only touching part of that potential.  bleh.  oh well.

could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

They did 3 issues last year. Thats one every four months. Yes they seem to be hitting this one a month late, but at least it is free.

EVAT are a lot of work and considerations.

They want them to be more than Kheldians.

I am trying to figure them out.  Crab is pure DPS if I understand well, kinda like a blaster.  Mace is kinda like a half MM if I understand well.  Mind Fortunata is kinda like a dominator.  Last widow is kinda like a scrapper.  Now, how did they balance it out?  There are a lot of things to consider for them, both from red side only and from both sides.  I assume that they will have some defense/resist, but I have no idea how you can compare them, and about hps, I am completely clueless.

For example Blasters have the 4th highest amount of hps (behind tanker, brutes and scrappers)...

Perhaps they should just throw together some code, ignore testing, and push it to production?    C

losed beta is invite only by the devs to those whom contribute thoughtfully and can help refine the implemtnation so that it is fun and balanced as much as possible from the start. Seriously op, it'll be done when it's done -- if there's something else you think will be better (War/aoc/whatever), then make your decision but don't complain about too many choices and how this should be compromised for your convenience.

i'm curious on your math.  november till june is a month late on a 'new issue every 4 months' schedule?

the 'it's free' line lost it's value a LONG time ago -- even the games that do a lot of paid upgrades, give out free updates.  it's not something special 'city of' does, not by a long shot.

not sure where this illogically thought out flame comes from, but hey, here goes...

you realize there's a LOT of other mmo's out there, right?  i mean, there's a list of them to the left and you mention a few new ones in your post.  you also realize that there's a LOT of new content coming out for most of those games, right? all the time, a lot free, some paid for (which if you wait a few months, you can just pay $20 and get the last 3 or 4 expansions, along WITH the free content they were already delivering).  you DO realize this, right?  i mean, there's a LOT of dev teams that churn out new (and fun) content on a regular basis.  not just a couple of times a year (nov 07 - jun 08 for one issue, sort of makes it hard to believe you'll see a LOT of new issues from jul 08 - dec 08, unless you're REALLY bad at math or reality or both).

you're sounding an awful lot like a fanboi.  fanbois are BAD.  why? because they contribute absolutely nothing EVER.  and their undying support of everything done in a game, actually HURTS the game, short term, mid term, and long term.  this is FACT.  not an opinion, not a hypothesis.  odd, how undying sycopantic ass kissing can actually be detrimental; but it's very logical and true.

so, friends and family of the devs contribute thoughtfully and help refine implementation moreso than people who have played cox since beta of coh and who have gone out of their way (without any dev tools, because they're just players) to deliver hard numbers and factual information to the devs, which the devs have, the vast majority of the time, simply ignored?

    really?

    that's REALLY what you believe?

wow.  like gbtw and "i can't believe a reasonable person could think something so inane".

now, feel free to contribute, or go play fanboi in the corner, pretty please with sugar and cream on top.

Yeah well CoX offers a kind of fun other MMOs seem to just lack.  Super Jump alone is more fun than 50% of WoW ;).

But yeah I sort of agree, I use CoX as a supplement and it works great as that.  If I played it all the time I get tired of it.

I like the random generation, but the genericness starts to wear down.  I guess, not entirely sure.  I don't mind instancing, not by any means.  But sometimes CoX just seems like one instance after another.  I think it might be better if it had a bit more world exploration purposeful quests and such.

That plus a few well designed large static style instances plus the already great dynamic instances and it would be completely superior to WoW or EQ2 IMO.

As it stand now, its a lot of fun but I periodically get tired of it then I feel an urge to come back.

ya know, that probably would be pretty fun.  if they adopted the exploration/instance idea.

picture one of those wow instances... ok, but it's on the shadow shard / rikti homeworld / deep under the sea / in some remote mountain range....   it could totally be accessible to both sides, heroic contacts/missions and their red-side counterparts.  there could be areas in the zone where it's pvp BECAUSE the blue/red sides have a conflict of interest.

who knows, maybe that's what i12 will hold with this roman time-travel thing...
