Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

Age of Conan not for everyone.

Here is my view of it,

How many years have we been in WOW killing pixels and socializing like a nerd? Which somewhat  i enjoy. How many years have you waited for a game that will do something different to entertain you? Want a combat system that is fun and innovative?

The answer never.

All MMORPG'S follow the same formula, with their own little twist. So unless you want to wait for another 10 years or something, id say don't hope too much. Either that or go play a cosole game, Which has the choice to be different.

Review time:-

The game is fast and slow at the same time, depending on how you see it. Those of us who have been spoiled by WOW won't get anything better. Everthing about this game appeals to me in a different manner then WOW or TR. Its a whole new thing.

Combat is realistic, it takes some time to get use to the combat system which is pretty clever. But can be improve upon. The game actually makes you think that everything you do will effect you in a big way. However the spell system does need some tweaking.

Graphics are awesome, if your rig can give you the eye candy that this game provide you will be left wanting more. There are some card compatibility issues at the moment.

Overall, you WILL enjoy it. Depending on how you see it, the game will appeal to the more hardcore gamers.

People aren't understanding this is a taste of the cake. And if you like the taste, wait till you eat it all, it just gets better and better. If you do not like the taste, you don't get the sweetness. Hah, i had simular feelings as you as stated in my review.

I remember just yesterday, so many people saying AoC is going to flop.  So many people talking about bugs and glitches everywhere.  Problems with everything.  Resource hogging client, blah blah.

Well, I'm not in General or Tech beta, but so far, the PvP weekend that I am involved in is awesome.  Most posters here and elsewhere are responding with almost exclusively positive feedback.  How many betas have there been where almost everyone was psyched after playing?

Invisible walls?  Where?  I know I only got to go up to level 5, but I didn't see any invisible walls.. unless I swim out into the ocean, which I haven't.  No reason to.

Personally I've been waiting for an engaging, fun combat system that's more involved since back in my AO days raiding the 'merc camp.

I'd also been waiting for a game with no grind (LOTRO fits that for me, personally). Weather AoC will deliver on this front remains to be seen, but I'm optimistic.

What if the rest of the cake has some poison in it and you'd never know? Kind of goes hand in hand with DAS1337's post, he hasn't seen any invisible walls yet, but what about later on? 80 levels...that's alot of areas that no one has seen yet. The more there is, the more risk of problems.

I kinda got a little wierd feeling about the game when i logged in, got a headache after that . But after my second time into the game, i feel that there is so much more that i am missing out. Assuming that the ivisible wall thing is not true. That will really kill it for me.

The best thing about this game is that everything looks good on the second time around. Go into the game without expecting ungodly things and your will fall in love with it.

Age of Conan will be the next big title next to WOW until WAR rolls out later this year. Then  we will have 3 big names competing for the masses to subscibe to their product.

My last MMO purchase was TR, which was kinda dissapointing ti me seeing that it didn't offered me much, maybe in a year 0r 2.

I will definately get the collectors edition for this game. The game just appeals to me in the right way. Just don't compare it to WOW. That game is a drug.

Sorry, it's just alot of people did what you did. I thought your review was fair enough, gave some good, gave some bad. And who would intentionally posion it? No one. That's the point. Mistakes happen, especially in big, expensive games...and games that try alot of new things. Unless Funcom is above the rest somehow! If so, please let me know !

So, up until level 5, you jumped off the path that was provided for you, and wandered through the jungle? If you stayed on the path because you had to, you encountered invisible walls.

I'm all about letting people that enjoyed the event continue to enjoy it, but don't spread false information. But the good news is, we already knew the newbie island would be pathed, so this isn't really a surprise. The question is, once you get off the island, is it still pathed in the same way? Some say it is, some say it isn't. Havent seen any conclusive proof for either stance yet, so people should hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence.

The invisible wall part is kinda bothering everybody. But lets see if it be true  on release. Eidios did say it was put in there to funnel the players into zones for the time being. Lets see if they are telling the truth on release.

And, Kids will not like this game. I'm kinda guessing it will not appeal to them even with the voilence and all.
