Ok what about a reward system...... Based on affiliation... If you are a "good" character you could go to a special temple somewhere And if he deems that you have been benevolent then he may decide to grant you a life pendant or something... And everytime you go to the temple... whether or not you get the pendant your affiliation is reset to neutral... Same with characters playing evil roles...... And ofcourse only allowing you to hold one pendant at a time....
What they could do to avoid being overly unfair to evil characters they could implement a Fame ladder of some sort.. the more evil you are the more famous you become.. The NPC's start talking about you in people's transactions and you get an extra roll for fear when you are fighting ......... This way when you go to the temple to get the pendant this is reset and you lose all fame amassed.... Same for benevolent players but the benefits they get are maybe benefits from merchants... and get an extra roll when fighting evil characters or something like that .... (It can be worked out better But i'm rushing this reply)....
I guess you can also make the temples hard to reach, or have to do some kind of trial....so it makes it impossible for newbs to get one of the pendants...
What about this system? does it seem fair?

Originally posted by Awdsone No this guy has got the friggin facts down. I want a game where if you die then too bad frikkin newb, you permanently lose all your items and your character. This sounds perfect. It would make the pvp more intense not kill it. I want to be able to be 100 levels above some newb and then pvp him just to see his reaction. If a game like this comes out, I'd definately buy it.
And I would love to see your reaction when you reach level 100 and a level 150 comes by and pk's the hell out of you. Whoops. Start a new character!
I really think Perm-death wouldn't be such a big problem, if its implemented properly...
Nowadays if you log on and your character is deleted and you have to start from scratch.. Of CoURSe you get angry... It's not fair that because of some kinda glitch or maybe haxxors you have to start alll over while every one else is fine...
But If a game comes out and perm-death is Clearly stated i'm sure that there won't be such a huge outrage that some of you guys are thinking of...
Take for example a television show... If you are watching a movie on HBO that you LOVE and everything about it is great and then suddenly the Channel switches to commercial... EVERYONE KNOWS HBO HAS NO in-movie commercials so Ofcourse you're gonna be angry... you're gonna curse and maybe even call up HBO to give them a piece of your mind.. But if you are watching the same movie on TBS and it cuts to commercial you won't be angry at all... maybe it'll put you in suspense but you won't bust a nut over it... Why? you ask? Well that is because We Expect commercials for those channels...
So I think the same can be applied to Games if you EXPECt that when you die it's for good or some other penalty you will not be as angry as you would be if you knew that it was a freak accident that only happened to you and no one else....
Am I right?
