I also think that more publishin is totally unecessary, there are alot of starters for aion, why more? will the game get better because it has better publishing? hell no.

Um actuall, hell yes.  More publishing means more populatity, which means more customers, which means more revenue, which means more money for developement, which means more content and a better game.

Lack of publishing/advertising just leads to an unknown game that struggles to survive and eventually becomes free to play with an item mall, and patches/updates stop coming and everyone just loses interest.

Even though the game is "unknown/not heavily advertised" in the NA/EU, it sure is wellknown in korea. And if it gets even half of the subscribers that L2 had around launch (Which it probably will get) in korea, the EU/NA market can start slow, and then build up.

And still, when we are approaching launch, I can bet my *** on that NC will start advertising. This means that when people start hearing about it, it's almost time for launch! Imho I think that will be great. Alot of people start to lose interest when waiting for a game for 2 years, only for it to get pushed back. This way, people won't have to suffer from the long wait time and pushbacks!

And like I said at the beginning, Aion can afford to have a slow start in the NA/EU. Then if the game is good, advertising or not, people will come.

Well, if lack of publishing can originate item mall (something i dislike a alot) JUST PUBLISH IT ALOT! ehehehe ;)

    You have no idea!

theres always 1 or 2 guys saying Aion isn't gonna make it or Aion just copies WoW  yadayadayada but theres always 5-6 other people proving better points / facts about Aion making them look bad

Well I'm from Europe, and the only thing that shines in my eyes atm is AION. I dont like AOC or WAR Graphics/Gameplay. Aion in the other hand just seems perfect...

A part of me tells me that i cant wait a single day more for AION, However other part tells me, that the more the game is in beta/testing, the better it will be when i get my hands on it :)).

Well... going on topic again, i guess all we AION lover's have to wait for European/NA beta fase, i do hope that the people that will have the chance (i hope i'm one of them) to go to EU/NA Beta, really make a good job on reporting issues/bugs/advices, and dont simply go there to "play" as it was final version :p .

Time to go work now, Cya All fellow gamers :)!

Hehe, I'm glad your so excited for this game and great for you :D.  I however, seem to think this game is going to be another lineage 2.  Great graphics, and somewhat creativity in the spell/damage department, but that is all.  I will say I haven't read much into it, but i just have that premonition about it with it's lineage-esque grinding etc..  But you see it differently and that's what opinions are all about :) Goodluck getting into beta :D

    We try our best. ;)

Yes, we're currently planning to hold a beta for EU/US. Unfortunately I can't give you any dates or specifics yet.

Awww. I've been waiting so looooong.

You might end up surprised, this game isn't here to kill L2 or be killed by the upcoming L3, this is directed towards another audience ^^

I was wondering whether the release date for Aion has been set.

I went to Amazon and they say it will be released on October 30. Just wanted to know if that was accurate or just an estimation on their part.

*sry if its slightly off-topic O.o

I just pray they change the anime looking character models for the western version, really cant stand at looking at anime characters.  other than that game looks perfect.

I wouldn't count on radical changes, anyways, the customization system has a really wide range, maybe you want to check this as an example of possibilities in the customization engine.

if you're expecting cavemen, gandalf tunics and tarzan armors, this isn't that game. Aion is high-fantasy.

  • KatzuAionKatzuAion Member Posts: 81

Why would they even change the anime-style of characters? this is AION. For western Type graphics, u have plenty of options around the corner, if u are not confortable with anime characters, u must know that, AION IS NOT for you, really, not being agressive or anything , but if you dislike the anime-like characters of Aion, you will never be able to like the game itself. (as it is based on fantasy more than anything)

WoW has Cartoonish Graphics - Me hates

AoC has kinda very Real graphics - Me hates

Aion is Fantasy/Anime type graphics, and honestly, that's what me, and alot more people are looking for :) !

Really, when i play a game, i wish the graphics are not real life copies, it makes the game look dull, and 2 much realistic, atleast i have some difficulty in being immerse in a non-fantasy type game.

Thanks Ephimero for posting the graphics.

Looking at all the sliders for the facial feats I'd rather say it's going to own PW not so much WoW.

Heck, leave the WoW players in their game .. do we need them in Aion?

PW is very dominant in Asia and that's what Aion will be. For NCSoft it's a win-win situation if they can get hold in EU and NA too.

I really hope Aion will have full normal mapping, not only on the character textures.

IMO looks stupid to have a super detailed, shiney 5000 poly avatar on a low-res flattish ground.

Well, keep it coming and send me your beta key

I think AION would do really well if NCSoft would have a monthly fee wrapped into one bill for all their subscription based games for North American and Europe. I don't think AION is a wow killer but I see it doing 250k subscribers if it all goes well and I hope it does.

  • CharlizdCharlizd Member UncommonPosts: 923

TBH i would be happy to only have 250k playing but i think you will be very very surprised at how well this game will do mark my words this will be the next big hit War may do better than AoC But Aion will do better than both and i have come to  this conclusion after playing both of the other beta's (only briefly with War) i have not played Aion but i can already see the game will not dissapoint i am yet to see one bad genuine comment yet.

I have to agree with the last comment that was made.  I think everyone is getting tired of playing World of Warcraft, I know I am.  So I think when Aion comes out this game will not only be one of the top games in the NA, but blow WoW out of the water.

I just have to say that THIS, not Warhammer or AoC....THIS is what I am waiting for that, I believe, will deliver me from the clutches of not only WoW, but EQ2.  I've been trapped in both for 4 years (back and forth between the two, never QUITE happy).

There's something about the soothing nature of the graphics and environments in general, and yet the inherent sense that danger could be present.  The game just LOOKS beautiful.

I cannot WAIT for this game, but I want them to take their time and release something that will be as amazing as it LOOKS like it's going to be.

    AION!!!!!  WOOHOO!

Oh, and btw....I'm not your typical WoW gamer, I'm 44 years old, soon to be 45, and I have to agree with the comment of "do we really need the WoW players in Aion?"  Uhm no.....we don't.  Let's see if this game can't lure away, however, the imaginative, young at heart yet mature, long time gamers that value a good story, amazing art, and solid gameplay over epeen contests and chat loaded with idiotspeak....people that will be a JOY to play with and still be peacefully diverse.

I think I love you. lol

I agree with everything here. Ive been waiting for this game since it was just a splash page on the NCsoft america site.

I see more and more people every day that want to quit wow looking for a new game, but since there is no other good game except wow around, they stick to it.
Lets hope Aion will be the next great mmorpg and will have a large community as wow has too.
No other good game but Wow? Wows graphics are meh at best. I could never get into it.

I play LOTRO for PVE and EVE for PVP. Both are very solid well done games with tons to offer.

Good luck to the devs on Aion. I look forward to giving it a try. I'm not a fan of Japanime style graphics though.

Sounds alot like me. I've quit WoW like 3 times and EQ2 twice (not currently playing either one). I'm on the bandwagon for AoC right now, but since I heard of Aion a few months ago, it has peaked my interest and is definitely on my list of watched games. The good things I've read in this thread about it has only reinforced my interest.
