They just need to remove crafting all together. They did it on the cheap without regard to fan input. The only time they asked about anything they'd already said "Do we go this way or that way. Sorry, we ran out of time to do crafting seriously." I'm so disappointed in the direction crafting has taken. Ya, most everyone knows how I feel about Funcom and crafting. I'm sorry, every time I hear AoC and crafting mention in the same sentence. I think a part of me dies.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
I'm not real big on crafting myself. I usually pick up some kind of profession and usually one that is most beneficial to my char. I haven't read too much information about crafting I just hope it isn't a mindless grind. Vanguards crafting was enough to make you want to swear off crafting for good so I hope it's nothing like that. I don't think most people are playing this for the crfating so if it's pretty basic that's fine with me.

Im not asking you this in a condescending way, more in an informative way. But can you give me some links to info on crafting you have. Cause I have never heard anything about crafting in the game, from anywhere.
Im not doubting you, im just asking for some information, I too will be upset with this, cause I recently did VG's crafting and liked it. I was hoping for something similar.

Hey Jive, here you go... read his opening post, they really don't give a crap about crafting...
So, Gaute just came up here and we had a chat about the feedback on crafting coming out of the reveals from the fansite event.
First, it’s fair to say we’re not going to completely overhaul the game for an SWG/UO/Old EQ2 style crafting system given our current timeline, budget, and so forth. That option is simply not feasible without delaying the game a year or years.
Secondly, it’s also not possible to change the current crafting system to one where you have to go to a forge/crafting area/whatever all the time, because it would require overhauling entire playfields, completely designing these dedicated crafting areas from the ground up, and also FUBAR our launch timeline.
Thirdly, the advancement system will remain centered around completing quests and storylines and not through making 10,000 Lesser Fancypants.
So, there are two options:
The Current System
In the current system, you can craft anything anywhere. Though it does require a player city for higher-end gear, when you have 10 iron and 3 wood (or whatever!), you can stand in the middle of the forest and make a sword. While we acknowledge it may not be immersive, the goal with this was to make crafting easier for everyone to enjoy, rather than just the dedicated crafters.
The Harder-Core System
After some initial conversations and reading through the feedback, it may be possible for us to do a system like this: Tier 1 items will still be craftable anywhere, so everyone will still be able to do somecrafting. Tier 2 and Tier 3 items (the highest quality items) will require a player city and will require traveling to that player city to actually craft them. Some crafting skills will still be doable anywhere (alchemy was mentioned, though you would still need to be in a guild with a player city to make high end items), but more realistic things like armor and weapons would require you to go to your player city and do the crafting there.
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
Think i'm going to try out alchy and gem cutting. But I also am disappointed with the wow like crafting system.
This isn't even WoW like crafting. This is crafting that doesn't start until like level 40. Completely insane and the major thing I have to over-come if I am to have a chance at enjoying this game.

UGH same here then I loved the eq2 crafting before the revamping. But maybe with this type of crafting style i won't live in the tradeskill basement and even get out and group once in awhile.
i like to work with crafting in games, i find it as an extra challenge. and there is just 80 levels to do, then the 20 pvp. and I only play one char when I play, so the crafting will keep me busy. guardian / armorsmith. Just gonna find a guild to tank for now.

This is highly going to depend on many in game factors IMO. In what catagories will dropped items be better than crafted items.
None.
