Desillusional Darkfall fans... Ah well when this game actually stirs (and by that I don't mean show us a screenshot of a tree), we might think it actually exists...But this is off topic so I'm not gona encourage anyone to continue on this.

As for performance....I actually have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Considering the fact that it was an old client version, stripped down to fit into a 7gb download, with debuggers and loggers running alongside the game code, I managed to get frame rates of 30-40 fps on a three year old machine.
Not bad.

I have not bashed AoC. All I said is the video's and reviews I have read lead me to believe that AoC is going to be another Vanguard. If anything we are just responding to AoC fanbois bashing Darkfall none stop on the Darkfall forum.I will be trying AoC out during open beta starting May 1st. We shall see if AoC is nothing more then Vanguard 2.0 or if AoC is indeed as good as some of you fanbois believe.
I was a huge Vanguard fanboy, I bashed everyone that posted negitive reviews and I countered post after post because I was in Closed beta for Vanguard for over 9 months but guess what, I can do something that not many of you can.
I WAS WRONG ABOUT VANGUARD. I hope I am wrong about AoC. I hope I am not wrong about Darkfall.
I can admit when I am wrong, I am willing to bet that we will not see alot of "I am sorry, I was wrong" Threads if AoC bombs. Likewise, I will bet that when Darkfall is releases we will not see the "I was wrong, I love this game" threads on the Darkfall forums.

Between all the Negitive reviews and beta leaks, it seems we have another Vanguard coming on soon but I have not tested the game myself, all I have seen are Video's so far.
I will be trying it during open beta. (Waiting on Darkfall Currently)

I can most assuredly say that it is no Vanguard. However, I can also say that it is not going to be as huge of a game as some people hope it will turn out to be.

I've played both, and even in the little beta test this last weekend, AoC had less bugs and performance issues than Vanguard had 2 weeks ago when I played it.

I don't disagree either. Regardless of what Tdog thinks, I am NO "fanboi" of any game.
But keep this is mind. I generally give any new MMO a try when it comes out. It's my hobby and passion. Some, turn out to be excellent and hold my attention for quite some time. Others, I simply don't care for.
But... Regardless... To each his own and everyone is entitled to their opinions of what they like and dislike. I just don't understand the "hate" and bashing of a game that someone hasn't even played. Will never make sense to me.

Yet everyone poo-poo's EQ2, and it is considerably more fun than LOTRO...and look how rough it was when it started...
So, I think all we can do is wait and form our opinion based on the actual game...because hype or slams do nothing at this time...
When the game releases...then come back and say "I told ya so..."
For now...everything I see looks good, and the fact Funcom has to answer to investors means they will be making some extra efforts to make a good game...

Sorry...first mention in quite a few posts...and will post what I wish, when I wish...but, thanks for your concern...Anyways, it exists in my sig, so in reality, EVERY post will say something about LOTRO...so, no matter what I post, it will ALWAYS tell the fine quality of the cardboard tasting gameplay in LOTRO...eat one Big Mac, will always taste like the next Big Mac...

Not disagreeing with you on AoC at all. was just a bit amused.I've watched the game for a long time.. I signed up on thier forums in 2005.. As you can see, I hardly post.. I'm not bias at all, in fact, I "had" 3 copies pre-ordered.
I'm no doomsayer, I'm no hater. I wanted aoc to work out, for me, it didnt.
To me, it was actually boring. I wasnt in a pvp fight that felt like a fight. It wasnt like, man, I just missed getting that combo off and I would have won. It was more like, wtf just happened?
At times it reminded me of a cheap version of mortal combat or street fighter (online).
I see people keep saying it was an old client, I even saw someone say, why spend the money using the newer client? Because, you have to spend money (marketing) to make money?
If Im wanting to sell something next month, Im sure going to use my best example to try to sell it to you. im not going to show you the old version I had and tell you, I have a better version, but wait until you buy it before you see it.
I think it boils down to people having high expectations and wont take failure for an option, maybe. They want aoc to work so bad, their willing tosit an argue in a forum over it to try to justify paying for that new pc, or justify all the time spent following the game.
When I first played, I was like, this might be a good game.. water looks cool, nice graphics, but after playing, I wouldnt play it if it was free.
Some people might like it, some people wont.. I'm not gonna try and "make" myself like it.
As far as how it ran.. I have a 4800 dual core with 4 gigs of ram and a 512 pcie vid card.. It rand terrible.. but then, I expected that going in, since it's not retail.

To be honest, I was surprised that the general impression was more positive than negative. Given the past few weeks and the changes I've experienced, I now believe that the game will have a good launch.
What remains to be seen is whether it will keep the people drawn to it once the honeymoon period is over. And no, the honeymoon period is not the first month. The first month is only for the people who have done no research and just bought blindly a copy (most of them don't bother with forums of any kind).
