what is the deal about people bitching about not being able to solo in a mmorpg? If i want to solo i'll play a single player game. Isn't that the purpose of an mmog game, to be able to group up and mingle with people....Oh by the way Lineage 2 Sucks!

I think people want variety in any MMORPG they play. If you only have an hour then grouping is not an option unless you are in a FPS.
You can solo as in exploring or crafting and still interact with the community in the end by giving a report or selling and buying some items.
Sometimes you can't find a group. Happened a lot in EQ for me and in that game you can't do anything unless you grouped except if you are a Druid, Necro or Mage.
Hehe, interesting point. I've never thought about it too much. As some other people are saying sometimes it's quite hard to find a group and for the casual gamer it can be hard. In favor of your point on the other hand, people that just want to solo really do need to find some other genre of gaming, MMOGs are not for them. I personally like the idea that MMOGs persuade people to work together, it makes the experience more realistic, but I suppose the inability to do anything when your friends aren't around or what not is an issue as well. It's a debatable factor I guess.

I play MMOGs because I like to play with other players. But from time to time I cannot, either because I don't have enough time or I just can't find people who want to do what I want to do. During those times, I like to be able to solo.
I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM FINDING A GROUP IN 3 YEARS OF EQ. And you can solo as an enchanter too, and Ive seen high lvl rangers and monks solo too, also beastmasters.
Laying in bed, looking up at the stars, a single thought passed through my head. Where the fuck is my roof?

I like to solo a lot. I don't see why players should not be able to solo if they want.
Just because when I hunt I play solo, does not mean I want to play by myself. I like interacting with others in other ways. I just don't usually enjoy grouping. Mostly because I hate camping. I like to wander around and pick off the solo monsters. I level very slowly, but I see much more of the world and actually end up interacting with a lot more different players rather than hanging out with the same 5 guys for hours on end. When I wander around picking off lone monsters, I like to chat up just about everybody that walks by. Hand out buffs, find the latest news, etc... I try to spread rumors and tell stories. Kind of like a bard, except I rarely play bards.
I never complain about not being able to solo though. I usually pick a class that can do it. And even if it is hard to solo, I figure out ways to do it rather than complain that I can't.
Pet classes are the soloists dream.
Listen sir, if you knew anything about mmorpgs you wouldn't have flapped your trap. MMORPGs are alternate worlds were people can do what they want and how they want. This genre has little to do with grouping. grouping make up a little bit of an mmorpg. Lineage 2 doesn't suck eather. You just are mad you are not good at that game so you bash it.
but i am sure you are just venting out fustration cause you just logged from trying to find a group but everyone wanted to solo. happens to me all the time
One thing I can tell you for sure.
It's damn hard to ignore something that you hate.
Not being able to ignore something that you hate is like refusing to eat something that you feel the hunger for.
How do I know that? I just said it so. I feel hunger for more of your posts. I simply can't ignore it although I hate it.
That was joke btw. Don't take it personal.
We are all good !!!
Soloing is a great thing:
1. Groups aren't always easy to come by
2. You might hate a lot of the people you play with
3. You may just be there to PK and not really help people out <<<< me with exceptions
4. Variety
5. Lineage 2 does suck

The same applies to you.
Lineage 2 is good. However lets not make this a debate about L2.
As much as I'm L2 addict, I acknowledge the fact there is a thing called "Group" outside L2.
Personally I like to solo. Like said there are times where it is very hard to find a group. Those that have never had trouble finding groups, more power to you. I wish I had your luck, I really do but I don't. I've played nearly every mmorpg out there for a number for a few months each, some for much longer. Then there is the time issue. During the week I don't havea lot of time play but I woudl like to log on and play for an hour or two. But having to wait a hour or more for a group is horrible.
I dont' see why if you want to solo that mmorpg aren't for you. Lots of people like the setup of these games, the worlds and the idea of talking with people in real tiem is great. That doesn't mean they always want to group or depend on someone. I'm not saying everything should be soloable but there should at least be some content for people that do like to solo.
I'm so glad that developers of some of the upcoming mmoprg finally are understanding this and are focusing on grouping and solo play. Games like Guild Wars, WoW(I think), Tablua Rasa, and even Everquest 2.
Vanguard seems to be holding to the grouping only world, not surprising they are the same group of people that were devs for EQ when it was made. That's great for them but I'm glad so many different mmorpg are coming out. Anarchy Online was the first to take notice that people like to solo, not everyone is taking that aproach in some way or another.

I am a "lone wolf type" so I like to solo alot. When I can find some good ppl to group with I will, but 80%of the time I am soloing.
Mostly guild buddies are the ppl I group with, but hey I guess anybody who knows what they are doing is good to group with.

Then you were very lucky. I've heard a lot of people complaing that they can't find a group. I remember one night I went High Pass Keep to get in the warrior room. The waiting list had 30 people on there. Since I don't have 10 hours to wait and then finally group long enough to be worth it, I left for Lower Guk. After the very long travel (this is well before Planes of Power) to the dungeon I spent 30 minutes to an hour shouting for a group (remember this is around the time Kunark expansion came out) in the undead side and I got no reply. I traveled to other places including CT but no one had an opening.
This happened around 30% of the time. This may sound like a low figure but when you are paying a monthly fee to play a game and you can't play even 15% of the time really stinks. I prefer to group also and will always choose to group if I have the chance. Although, I would like to have the option of soloing incase I can't find a group.

From his second sentence, I'd guess he played a chanter, which meant he had no problems finding groups, particularly if he was halfway competent. Same thing went for clerics. Me? I missed the fine print on Druids under the part about being able to do a bit of everything that said they couldn't do any of worth a damn. So after level 39, I soloed. Alot. I still looked for groups, especially once I got into the 50s, but the only time I got them was when there was a group that was terminally desperate for some form of healing, and 9 times out of 10, these would be pickup groups of total morons, which would end up with me dead, so I finally gave up, and stuck with soloing. At least then, if I died, I had no one to blame but myself.

I love to solo, and would guess that i spend about 80% of my time in MMORPGs not being in a group. In fact i only tend to group when doing some kind of raid or clan get-together, or when helping a noob out.
What i like about MMORPG's is the fact that you can talk to people, the fact that everyone around you isnt a faceless NPC who serves no purpose. I enjoy having weapons crafted for me, i enjoy being in a clan so i can chat to people while being solo.
Grouping is actually not necessary in an MMORPG to be honest, yes its often fun and lets you hunt things which you couldnt normally hunt, but you can take part in the social side of MMORPGs without forming an actual team, there are normally sector chanels, private chanels, clan chanels etc etc. So just because you do not group does not necessarily mean you are ignoring everyone else.
however if you do simply ignore everyone else and try to play the game completely alone then i would suggest you may be in the wrong genre. But its not for me to tell somebody how to have fun, as long as they dont spoil my fun in doing what they do then i have no problem
Each to their own is what i say

Not allways easy to find groups and not evry1 has 8 hours gaming time to blow all the time.
and who hasnt gotten tired of grouping?
soloing should be a part of evry mmo imo, it should be player choice if he wants to group or not.

Can't we let other people do what they want if it does no concern you negativly?
Let them play in groups or solo or both when they feel like it or do you want to live in a world of copy clones of our self?
