    The 8800GT without a doubt. It's much faster than the 9600. Check the tech specs...

    the 8800 gt has almost twice the shader units and is usually about 30% faster.

     

    the next best would be the 8800 gts 512MB

     

    the manufacturer is irrelevant.

     

    however, the 8800 gt gets VERY hot, up to almost 90 degree Celsius, so you need better cooling

    the 9600 gt and the 8800 gts do not get that hot by a long shot

    actually the 8800 GTS 512 meg (G92) has 128 stream processors.  The same as the GTX.  Its a step up from the GT now that its recieved a facelift.  The older GTS's dont bother with at all

    the gtx is actually slower than the gts 512 (except for some high quality settings in very high resolutions) and it is more expensive

    so either he stays with the 9600 or the 8800 gt or takes the 8800 gts.

     

    my thread tries to answer the question which would be best for AoC
