sadly, i must say i'm a big fan of stargate. It's probably one of the best sci-fi shows on any TV station. Not only are the special effects top notch, the acting is extremely good. I never miss a NEW episode. Although its the only TV show i will "want" to watch.
Teal'c is built like a friggen mountain. The guy has gotta be like almost 275lbs all muscle. I think Stargate was really popular with me was because it was a truely unique concept built on our very own history and made it so much thats it's actualy a beleiveable thing that could have happened.
Since i got a few minutes and im bored ill give a short explanation of the show.
Thousands of years ago a species known as the Gaoul'd(pronounced Gwa-oold) came to earth and enslaved humans. They portrayed themselves as gods. Most egyption. Some japanesse etc... They are actualy a parasitic alien. They basically look like a worm on steroids. With "sharplike" beak/teeth that dig into the persons neck. Then they latch themselves onto the persons brainstem and take over all functions. They provide increased strength, healing, and an enormous lifespan. Every person they take over, they gain there knowledge. They reproduce A-sexually through a "queen". Kinda like bees. 1 queen for many normal ones. All the knowledge the queen has is genetically past on to her children.
They are very advanced technology wise cuz they steal all there knowledge. They fly in ships designed like pyramids(which is where egyptions got the design from). They took human slaves from earth thousands of years ago and put them on many different planets they ruled.
Even before the Gaoul'd lived a race called the Ancients. They are some kinda "all powerful" beings now cuz they acsended to a new plane of existance. Anyhow, they built devices called Stargates and placed them on thousands of different planets. And each stargate can connect to another via by creating a wormhole. Which is when humans of present day found and and build a secret organization called the SG:C(stargate command). They explore planets, fight the Gau'ld etc..
The Gaoul'd use a race called the "Jaffa" as nurseries for there young. The Gaoul'd rule as Gods in every race they enslave. So the jaffa think they are gods and do whatever they say.
Thats the SHORT version. It would take me a few pages to give a good detailed explanation lol.
I must say that i`m fan of SG for few years when i saw it 1st time.So good post numatic Hope that somebody who didnt hear about SG (wondering how it can be? ) can get image of what is it all about and what he missing.
I also want capture your attention to another great sci-fi babylon 5.Its really good and also few movies was made but i personally never saw one, what a shame , but my excuse is that it wasnt in TV
So for sci-fi guys i recommend you these two: Stargate and Babylon 5
