I either like to solo or be in a group of maybe three people I know really well. My favorite thing to do is a two person group. But, of course, If I wanted to quest some large dungeon, such as Medivh's Tower, I wouldn't exactly go running in there alone.

I like to group with my guild or other people I know, else I rather solo.

It's nice to group with afew friends and 1-2 other people so you get to know them, but a full team of random people usually sucks bad..

I like soloing for earlier levels and quests but if you can find a good group of giuldies of buds to hook up with thats always nice.  The best part about being able to solo is that you are not being forced to deal with annoying players that, in some games, may be the only of a "tank" or healer class that is near your level.  If no one else is around and your bud and giuld is all out of town then your forced to group with goofballs just to xp in a game that will remain unmentioned......*coughEQcough*

Anyways its always fun to run with some buds through some high end dungeons and to have a good time.  Exploring the world is also a heck of a lot more fun when you get ot experiance all the new stuff with someone else.

I always like to solo for the first 10 lvls of any game, just because I like going my own pace. In WoW at lvl 10 I'm gonna start grouping and cooping with other players, start makin friends, maybe join a guild.

I solo as much as possible because in games like this, it is hard to find a very reliable group that has the same sleeping habits as I do. I go to sleep at around 3 in the morning and I can't help but wake up around 6:00AM central time. It's weird because I can deal with such little amounts of sleep. So in the mornings, I like to solo as much as I can and I try to keep this plan as long as I can throughout the day, but if a close friend logs on or I find someone extraordinarily interesting/fun to be with, I will try grouping with him/her.

I am not, however, a person running around shouting out "Looking for group!" And I usually declines invites if I haven't ever spoken to the person, so that might make it a little harded for me to find a group, but I plan on having a lot of my friends playing this game so I should be alright.

Maybe we will have to "lone wolf" together .......*winks at LoStCaUz3*::::39::
The main reason I solo alot is b/c I'm somewhat greedy sometimes, when you solo you get all the loot from the kills. When you group you take turns getting the loot, this sometimes can bring hostility to your group, especially when you dont know the ppl you are grouping with.

Thats why I usually only like to group with friends, and guild members. That dosnt meen I dont group with ppl I dont know, that just meens I dont group with them as often.

    My kill, my loot ::::40::.

Hehe, I forgot about that part of soloing. Yea it can be pretty fun to go hunting with a group and friends, but when you solo you don't have to worry about several other health bars. You can go your own pace. And yes also because the loot is all yours lol. Also, do you get more exp solo? Whereas in a group the exp is divided like in swg?

Ya, I think you do get a small exp reduction. But on the other hand you will be killing mobs much faster, so I guess its how you look at it.

In the experience I have in playing MMO's, I have found that my decision goes both ways; 50-50.

    Grouping:
Grouping is an awesome way to gain experience fast against beasts that you cant attack continiously without a lot of downtime.  Also, good for quests, major items and all the like.  A great aspect about grouping is the chance to meet new people, I love this about the game!  Meeting people in an online world is great because there are so many of them!

    Soloing:
Soloing is great because of the time you get to spend by yourself, in thought, submerssed in the game.  You get the sense of being in there yourself, and feel that you're hunting the actual monsters.  Soloing adds more of an edge to the hunt, because if you fail, you have to treck back there and do it agian, no one to back you up.  The feeling of accomplishment is what drives me to be a solo player, that and not having to worry about players ninja-looting/KS'ing.

Ya I hate when ppl "KS" all your items, thats probably the only thing I dont like about grouping. Overall grouping is mostly benificial, like KillerTwinkie said you get exp fast, usually dont get hurt that much(depends on your roll), sometimes its easyier to item hunt in groups, and also make stronger bonds with friends, guild mates, and strangersimage.

Dude...you winked at me. That's just not right.

Anyway, the reason I don't tend to group a lot is because odds are, I will never see these people again unless we plan a meeting. Even if we do meet up again, chances that we group together are not likely so I just skip the middle man and not group unless I know the person IRL or I just coincidentally meet the person a few times in game before I ever group with them.

I agree, though in a game like this where each class is so different, a lot of times you're going to need a helper. The only class I can really see being able to solo almost anywhere would be the Warlock, since it can heal itself and its pet that tanks for him, and can rez himself if he dies using the soulstones.

I really can't see myself grouping though unless I'm taking a quest. Other than that I'll probably stick to grouping with my friends (in game or out of game) or doing things that I can while I solo, like crafting or killing tiny, furry, innocent creatures.

Anyone can solo by themselves. Study in firstaid/fishing and cooking and you will be able to heal yourself. You can just create a melee class if you are worried about needing a tank. And the part about ressurecting, you just plain got me there.

I am sure blizzard will implement some sort of item that not only one class can use that can ressurect people.

yeah, the all-class rez thing is from engineering, and they're called Goblin Jumper Cables. They don't work all the time though, and occasionally they actually blow up... or so I've heard.

And I don't too much fancy the idea of being a regular warrior... bleh. Hack, slash... slash... hack hack... just seems kinda boring. At least WoW is using the Rage meter, so that might make it much more interesting. I've always preferred a caster archetype because you have to manage your health and mana much more carefully. The reason I'm looking at Warlock or Rogue is because I like the whole shadowy aspect of both of them. I always have enjoyed RPing the not-so-nice guys, and who could be even not-nicer than someone who cohorts with demons?

I know any class can solo, but so far it just appears that certain classes can solo better than others.

Hell even priests can solo! Each class can solo they dont HAVE to group. The only time youll need to group is instance dungeons and High end game content like the emerald dream (Probabaly). Each class has its own advantages/disadvantages but a GOOD player will be able to have stratagies for the class hes playing and should be able to solo with ease.

Its funny for me. I start off soloing (considering none of my friends are on) and sooner or later meet someone who is fighting beside me and we start talking. After a bit (if all goes well) we team up and go together and if everything goest incredible after that you add the person to your friends list. Now you have one more friend to look for before going off to solo. Thats how I do it. I do not just pick up a random group and go. Otherwise that is all i have to say about this

  • el_Slackoel_Slacko Member Posts: 310
I like to solo, but if I see someone interesting hunting in my area or doing the same quest Im on, ill prolly ask them to join me. Althought I HATE having to find a group unless its an epic or very hard quest. I would rather solo most things, but I dont mind company.

It is fun to solo its kinda the thrill of the hunt! Just you and your prey! If i find someone also soloing I might see if they would like to follow but I probaly wouldn't see them again unless we pass in the street or something. Maybe getting a fake beer.image

yes.. I love those shady charactors.. and well.. the hunters too.. they have pets ^^... which is cool...

I am not in this game.. but heres what i got to say...

    Soloing:

Well first of all soloing isn't really my thing very much because I am a social type of person and i like to group with other people and talk at the same time which would be fun and the only good thing about soloing is when you want to spend time on some specific things.. like.... Quests... well if the quests are what u say is like then it would be hard.. but I DO have my ways of getting pass some quests :D

    Grouping:

Pros: well you get faster experience and fair loot

Cons: If your not in a right group... like... if they're just lazy asses then it will not go so very well in your case because you will get mad cuss no one is doing anything to help

Thanks for listening to me.. be sure to find me imageimageimage

Looks like most peps are middle ground for the solo/group orientation. I am perhaps the same way. However most enjoyable part of MMO and that what makes you successfull is belonging to with other m8s you enjoy playing with and trust, which is important.  But I would prefer to enjoy solo character progress, than to tag along with group I don't really enjoy being part of for better exp gain for example.

  • ThriftThrift Member Posts: 1,783
I like to solo the creeps/mobs I KNOW I can kill, grouping is fun when you go non - stop killing bossesimage. But I also enjoy being in a group of 1-2 friends that I know, it just makes the game much more fun that way.
