im Running out Of MMO's To Play

giggalgiggal Member UncommonPosts: 120

Well ive tried a lot of mmos on the market got lots of capped level toons across different games, but the one thing that im having problems with is finding a new game thats both involving fun and interesting.

Nealry all the new MMO's that are hitting the market are adopting the "quest to CAP" option which involves going from npc to npc in a hunt to find the next quest maybe grouping up to do a hard bit then going back to soloing.

I cant seem to find any new mmo that draws me into the game. So far ive played

DAOC (long time)

CIty of villains (gets a bit repetitve

Final Fantays XI (awful control method)

Eve (bit boring for the first 12 months)

D&D (dull)

LOTR(fun for the first 20 or so levels then deteriorates into quest grind

and probbly some others (including warcraft)

I miss the whole interaction aspect of MMO's that you would go out and group up then go out and beat stuff to death as a team.

I dunno anyone got any ideas of any mmo's that arnt configning themselves to the find the next quest option ?

Well hang in there another month and you'll be able to give Age of Conan try.  Unfortunately, you'll probably become bored with it in about three months and end up right back where you are now.  I sure hope I'm wrong though.

Sound to me like your an old everquest player , it's ganna be hard to find what you want trust me i 'll tried most of all the mmo's on this site and they all seem to connect to the same finish .

Grind quest level cap raid then get bored .

I mean i dont want to be negative but the industry really need to come up with new idea and concepts for these games which are more and more popular .

Good luck in your search though .

Consider yourself lucky, my computer won't support 75% of the mmos on this site. You just have to find something you like. Maybe mmos altogether aren't for you. Once you find something you like(more than your current favorites) is when you will be able to make the "which mmo is for me" decision.

honestly the only game i can really think of that really pushes you to group up is FFXI.. but.. you have a 75 char on there already? .. wouldn't know what to tell you otherwise.. (and if you just mean character control.. can always get a ps2 style controller hookup or something.. always prefered that)

OP I am pretty much where you are. I have tried a couple of the asian F2P's recently. They seem pretty pointless. I am starting to get a bit jaded with the whole genre, games seem to hold me less and less. If you haven't tried Wow you should probably give it a go it is certainly fun for a while (though is quite quest grindy until you get to the end game which is either raid grind for items or pvp grind for items). Still you should get a couple of months out of it.

I am hoping Conan will hold me for a bit, until other stuff hits the shelf at least. Reading between the lines and from what closed beta testers are saying its being released too early. Still thats good in one way....it may be worth a revisit a year or so when its more complete. I may even take a pass for now on it but desperate for something. Speaking of revisits and funcom, Anarchy Online is a really interesting game if you can put up with old old graphics. Sounds like you enjoy discovering how a game works (I do) well AO really works quite differently from some games and there is quite a lot to discover. I went back 2 or 3 times over the years.

I'm hoping darkfall might break the mold and re kindle some real intrest - to a lesser extent spellborn. If WAR can generate the excitement of DAoC that might be fun too.

    Signed Jaded.

Let me guess, you have to work (or more likely go to school) some of us have an abundance of leisure time. We have plenty of time to get outside and plenty of time for games, in fact the true hedonists do nothing but pursue pleasure. The downside is of course as the OP eludes to is pretty soon you have "been there, done that". Oh well I think I am off for a short island vacation until Conan is out, all this game playing has tired me out. Look forward to your reply when you get back from work/school.
