I've never liked the casting/healing classes and won't play one in AoC. However I will play a Dark Templar which is a new kind of class in my opinion and does some magic which usually is a turn off for me. It seems with spellweaving casting classes will be more than a mobile triage center, it seems to me the magic classes are very versitile in AoC compared to other fantasy MMORPGs. It will be very interesting to see spellweaving in action for the first time from both sides.
At worst no-one will use spell weaving, at best it will be used as a part of an arsenal that makes a caster a multifaceted player in a group. So the way I see it, it can't do any harm.

With the intent to play a necro in game once it actually launches, this sounds lovely to me. The video was pretty but really didn't show much (I would love to have seen combat casting but I'll just experience it in game later.
To those fanboys that adore everyting Funcom say - and for those negative that see all as doom and gloom. The truth is somewhere inbetween.
This is first info all players get of spellweaving ingame (yes that includes beta players) and it has not been implemented (based on articles from leading developers in gamespot interview). So if it works in terms of gameplay - we are yet to see. Dont forget that the very exiting melee system was changed quite drasticly from what the devs orginally wanted to bring out - just because the testers didn't like it. That was over a year ago. Now the finetuning of entire spellweaving system will be done in less than a month. Not much chance for drastic changes even tho it wont work - And it could effect the balance of the game alot.
With that said - at least we now have some info about this featrure of the game. And we will stay tuned to what the testers say when/if they get to try it.
Will this feature be in at release ? Id say its about 50/50 atm. Its a move from Funcom to make some kinda system they had promised. If the beta testers wont like it IF they get a chance to test it - then it will be left out and dev's will use the excuse it needs more work. There will be no talk about it added to the game less than month before release - cause hey - its only big part ability of 40% of classes ingame.
It will not change the fact that things like sieging will not be in at start. If it hasn't been tested in beta (like leading dev has already stated) then there simply is no way we can have kinda balanced huge scale battle system CONSIDERING that many classes were just now getting the key abilites for playing.

Just to point something out here. Spellweaving won't be seen in Closed Beta. It's been stated by Developers that FC wants to keep it as something -New- just like Sieging and DX10 Graphics. All those things are tested internally by the QA Department of FC and all those things will be in at launch. That is the latest word and I am sticking with it, despite the constant stream of people saying it won't be.
Until FC comes out and says sorry, Sieging is not in at launch, I will believe them that it will be, since I have less and less reason not to (seeing as the other features that haters believed not to be in at launch, Spellweaving, is now apparently going to be in. Keep in mind, this is not an assumption on how it will play, merely the fact that it will be there).
If testing Spellweaving and Sieges only internally is a good decision remains to be seen. I have my reservations about that as I stated in other posts, but I am willing to give them the benefit of doubt.
