Yea gotta agree with Kyleran. I hope they didn't rush it to market. I wish both games to do well (regardless of the OP's views), but everytime one game pushes to release before another game it hasn't turned out too well for the game that released first.

I don't think AoC will live up to the hype (at least this guys), but it certainly will be better than anything else for the next couple of years.

I think AoC will be great also. However, I must profess concern in your apparent over-indulgence in sugar and caffeine.
I really hope they implement the siege warfare in a way that its fun and actively involves the server population...I have high hopes for this game..but I guess will we have to wait and see...

Exciting, so they rushed there game to the finish line and are releasing an unfinished and buggy product! Even if Mythic pushed WAR to fall of 2009 I'd still be happy! I'd rather a game be finished and all the hyped ideas included & working before launch then concentrate on adding even more instead of fixed rushed ideas!

Do you have any idea how long this game has been in the making, and how many times it has been pushed back? It's been pushed back atleast 3 times (that I know of), and has been about...5 years in the making now I believe. The general feedback from the gamespot PvP weekend was that (ignoring balance and server lag) everything felt nicely polished aswell, bar a few framerate issues in PvP.

I see that you have picked the winning side of these two MMORPGs about to launch soon. Now we just need to wait a little, sneak into the beta and get into King Conan's good side by giving him trophies of evil Stygians. I here by claim Zorvan's moustache to be left for me! Vanguard is going to be a great MMO just give them some time to work out the bugs and performance issues.....

Oh boy, another Fantasy MMOG... God aren't people tired of them yet? Each one is not much different than the last anymore. Really burnt out on it. Bring on some good Sci-Fi and some original game concepts. The same old grind is getting tired.
That being said, I'm sure Conan will be a good game, but I'm not too excited about any Fantasy MMOGs these days. Enjoying Eve for now until something more interesting comes along.
There is a reason why fantasy MMOs has 98% of the MMO marked. People invest a lot of time in MMOs compared to other games so they want to enter something they know in advance they will enjoy and recocknize and they dont like to take chances with the investement in time they will put into a MMO.
There is atm only 1 really successful Sci Fi MMO, eve and it had less than 20k subscribers for years. Its only word of mouth about how good a game it is that have caused it slowly to become the fairly successful game it is and still it has fairly low subscription numbers compared to many fantasy mmos.
There will be a chance that stargate world will be the sci fi mmo that breaks the trend. But that will only happen because its a well known IP so people will again know in advance what they can expect and that will make them seriously considder the game.
Back to AoC. To the OP I am a huge fan of ReH and have waited for this game for 3 years but I am not without doubts. There are some things that worries me a lot. The XP penalty at pvp death will promote zerging and cowardly gangking rather than make people play in exiting ways. And pvp in general looks too controlled and structured. There is also the issue that it looks like the pve endgame is massive raiding. All 3 things are issues that can drive even a faithful fan like me away from the game.

I think this time it would be a much better idea, if we kept this guy in front of his pc playing games.
Why, because the thought of this guy getting up and going for a walk OUTSIDE on the streets, is some how a much more scarier a thought than meeting him ingame somewhere.

medieval, I'm pretty sure the AGE of CONAN was set alot further back in time than the medieval times, suppose to be before recorded history or something like that.

I don't care if i get in open beta or not i ordered the collectors edition so i will enjoy the game as well, ain't that hardcore to get an extra headstart, i will go with the flow.

I'm not sure how the WAR vs AoC comparison fits in? AoC is coming out first?
Sure I'm looking forward to AoC but when it comes out I'll be looking forward to WAR too. If the OP said 'AoC steals 5% of WoW player base....' (and had the proof) then that would be something...but I am just confuzed over this....
Seriously I hope both AoC and WAR do well, there are only 3 games doing well ATM in the entire industry (WoW, LotRO and EVE in my opinion). More MMORPGs doing well financialy will mean more companies willing to invest more. Hopefully it won't get blown like in the Sigil saga, which probably set the industry back.
