Level 50+

LasastardLasastard Member Posts: 604

Hi,

am on my 33 day trial and have a little problem...

I am currently a lvl 51 Jedi and have problems leveling up. I have finished the legacy quest up to level 40, since this was all there was back in the day. I was told that there is more now, but no one was able to tell me where/how to pick it up.

Kashyyk was mentioned as level ground for 50+, but I have done a lot of these quests previously at a time when there was a problem with the amount of xp granted for them. So basically I have no clue how to level up...

Any serious suggestions would be appreciated (other than "play something else....")

Terminal missions and massive amounts of grinding are really your only option.

Lots and lots of VERY boring quests...  That's how you do it...  Just go play WoW, it's a much better version of SWG.

You can run 10 terminal missions per "galactic day" and get enough XP without ent buffs to advance a level a day through level 70.  Then it's enough XP to advance a level every 2 days.

The "galactic day" runs from Noon PDT to Noon PDT.

You can knock these out in about an hour.  You can do faction missions and get some GCW points also in the process...they're generally less time consuming now, only one spawn of mission objective guardians to deal with, two or three NPCs per mission.  I've found that buffed up and properly armored it's no problem to take on two of these at a time, the mission will be +/- 2 levels from your current level.

CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

You can run kash quest through your 70s then go head to musty. Get you to round 85. Now i went 85-90 soley off of grinding but that was before they made combat harder and at least as far as i know you cant take 20 creatures your level by yourself anymore.

Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.

If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day.
And then Nebraska would get nerfed.-pinkwood lotro fourms

Chapter 10 will also include a new Meatlump themepark that will be targeted at the level 50+ range.

Thx everyone for the input. Turns out Kashyyk is really the only way to level up for me. I*ll probably write a small review some time this week from the perspective of a returning player in is 50ies (level-wise :P)

But here is somethign that bugs me: I still get the feeling that there is something not adding up with how the level progression is set up.

I entered the hunting grounds at lvl 50, while most quests there are probably targeted at level 40is characters.

Also, after having finished the hunting ground quests, I was maybe level 54, including occasional teriminal mission grinds as suggested above. Now here is the thing - I was then sent to the Ryatt Trails - and that zone is for level 60+++ chars. Am  I missing something or is there a huge gap...? And if so,how come - the NGE has been out for a while now, I cant be the first to stumble over this problem. I also expected the Legacy series to be further along by now. Since my last visit (a year ago) there has been no added content in that department...

Seriously confused as to how to proced. I would hate to do terminal mission until I'm 65+...

I suggest drinking heavily, then, things will make more sense.

To answer your question, what you are seeing is a by-product of the rabid mismanagement of SWG by SOE and the fact that they are basically on their third Dev team since the NGE. The whole "experience" is seriously disjointed. The starter station is relatively smooth and bug free, but much of what is on the planets isn't. You can level up to 50 or so, then nothing for you until 60+. There is another "gap" in the low 80s until you hit 90, but maybe some of these "oh so fun" collections will make up for that.

Then again, the devs realize how fun this game isn't, don't really care to fix it or aren't allowed to, depending on who you want to believe, and have said, in an open communication to the playerbase, that they know the game sucks until you hit level 90 and it is "ok" to AFK level.  What kind of game company says it is ok to violate their own EULA against AFK play because the game is not fun until you reach max level?

That would be $OE. Other companies ban accts over that.

Kashyyyk has always been a little all over the place when it comes to difficulty.  It was revealed at the Summit that they have plans to get around to streamlining this so it flows better.  As well as that, there is that new level 50+ content coming with Chapter 10 that I mentioned earlier in this thread.

You are correct though, there is a gap.  The original intent was to add 10 levels of content with every Chapter.  This was implemented for a few months, with the Legacy being extended from maxing at lvl 30 to lvl 50ish. However, with the majority of the player base looking for end content, this plan was abandonded to inject content in at the high end (which was in high need).  So now that the high end has had a good covering, they're now returning to the mid-levels to help that aspect out.

So basically what you're saying is that there aren't enough new players coming into the game to justify anything but "end-game" content.

Do it like many others do. Get level10 get a pet (doesn't matter which one nor stats) go to that kashyyk spot instance thingy channel3 and go down until you see a huge pile of afk/non afk people letting their pets beat feral wookies. Takes yuo to 90 in two/three days. It's what i did with my chars :p

Not at all.  In any game, there will always be more people playing at the high-end rather then the mid-level.

Run missions from terminals, get xp, get you next level repeat till you hit lvl 90. Thats not to difficult ..

    Working as intended.

Star Wars Galaxies MMORG  Yeah I agree its not the best, but its not the worst either.  I like it because its not as confusing as some of the other MMORGS.   The gaps are in there for a reason most PVP locations can be accessed by level 50 and above to complete missions out of there, and the GCW PVE bases range in combat range based on the planetary score.  theese bases are related to troop movements inside city  The prominitor of the base can be any where between 20 to 90 depending on the planetary score also space combat is a really good way to gain gcw points as wells as experience.  Also mission terminals offer alot of experience and stuff your level destroy missions offer more money and experience than delivory and fraction mission teriminals offer more xp and money in gcw mode than in pirate mode.  Also a good way to gain gcw right at lower levels.  Killing Elite GCW fractions npc's will give you higher gcw points on planets than reglar gcw npcs

Here is the list that might be helpful.

You only can gain GCW points from thoughs 9 or 10 up or down from your current level, however I wouldn't suggest  you level level below alone though.

    combatant PvE only

you get one planetary point for every 10-20 fraction npc you kill

Elites are worth 10 regular npc's

    PVP Special Forces

you get one plantary point for each fraction member you kill

you also get 2 planetary points for each elite fraction member you kill.

Note**** This is based on observation only and not fact in higher levels its important to group up on missions for the group exp bonus the officers have and the npc will be expected to work in groups of 2.  This is an MMORG after all.  Group combat is neccessry for your survival.  When I mentioned fraction members I mean the opposite fraction you are with.  Also side note most PVP locations have been bumped down abit to allow for the level gap.  and player PVE bases are level 20 to 85 depending on the planetary score on its premitor.  So there is content out there you just got to find it.  The fraction detachment headquarters is a bunker PvE location and I have not seen any outside spawns for it.  To find opposite fraction bases use the war terminal once any fraction run into it and attack it the fractions base will be exposed to all members both fractions.

    I shure hope this helps.

    SWG is fun really
Sid1701d SOE is better than other MMORGs like EA Electric Arts didn't provide enough servers for their take over of westwood studies that created Space Above Beyond.

Meatlump theme park is great and its fun too along with kasshyk which if this is a new character that is a great place as well and the daily terminal quests are good.  You can probably do a few of the starter quests on mustafar that dont require you to fight anything if you want to.    Then there is the usual way of grinding on animals and missions.
