Now that I have your attention, if any of you wish to complain, or applaud performance, tell us what you are running on.
Any post that complains about performance, but fails to state the operating system, hardware and connection, should just be deleted from the board. There is absolutely no context to place these complaints in.
First: Be aware there appears an issue with the 8800 GTS. This will likely be resolved with a Nividia patch, or by Funcom, but a huge number of the complaints, are coming from those with this particuar card.
I run the game flawlessly, yes, flawlessly at medium settings, at 1920 x 1200 resolution.

I am actually in the process of significantly upgrading, but this system is two years old, and the game runs superb on it.

I have not gotten a chance to play yet, but I'd like to take the opportunity to ask in this thread about my computer as well...
...I made a post about the comp I was going to use yesterday but I didn't get every question answered...
Will my computer be able to play with this video card at decent settings, assuming the rest of the components are top-notch:
ATI Radeon HD 3200
If only SW:TOR could be this epic...
I'm playing on a 2.8Ghz Pen4 (Win XP), 2g RAM, 7800 GeForce Video Card, X-FI Extreme Audio and a 6mb Internet connection. I ended up playing on low settings with a few tweaks.

I can run the game on high/custom settings n about 65fps. As for all those dx9/dx10 difference pics that were posted a while back...I think they are bs...the game looks great on DX9, looks very close to the screens of DX10 pics I have seen.
Windows XP SP3

Crap, in a word.

Razor Barracuda Sound Card

smooth - freeze, smooth - freeze. And the expected server drops/bad logins esp when changing zone.
that's what I find funny, because I have the same processor, but I just have half the ram, and a middling video card (well above their humorous minimum requirements), but I usually wind up locking up within about 10 to 20 minutes of starting up the game client. I suspect it's my ati card, but who knows (it's a 3870hd).

I applaud performance!
I thought for sure the first time I ran it I couldn't play it, but nope, turning it to high settings actually made it perform better. I get around 20 FPS.
Old computer. 3 or 4 years old. 6800GT, 2.4 GHz, 2 GB ram, Asus deluxe motherboard.
This sounds a lot like Vanguard to me. Rabid fanboys saying "Its just lagging cause your PC sucks!" In both cases, AoC and VG, some low end machines would run it fine, high end machines would die.
Darkfall Travelogues!
I've tested AoC in two computers:
2 years old gaming laptop with Dual Core (2x2.0GHz), 2 Gigs of RAM and a 256 MB Gforce 7300 card. Can't really play with it, not even cranked all the way down, unless you call a slideshow gameplay.
About 10 months old gaming desktop with Intel Core 2 Duo (2x2.66GHz), 4 Gigs of RAM and a 512 MB Gforce 8800 GT card. I was able to get decent frame rates at mid setting with some performance issues in the cities. Crashing and freezing every once in a while
Both machines have updated drivers, a high speed cable connection and were running XP, the performance goes down with Vista.
I would have expected the ATI HD line to run teh game rather well as I have head of lesser cards (ATI X1xxx) cards running the game well on mid or low settings. I have noticed a lot of talk of issues with ATI and some Nvida drivers as of late. . . had to patch my drivers last week (X1650 pro) do to crash issues with vista when launching some games in windowded mode, also noted some issues with ATI HD2600 (if I recall) a firends system.
I would be intrested in what every ones oppenion is of what the minimal specs should be. . . I have read the listed min and req; and have head extreams on both sides (low end systems running fine and high end systems having issues)
Windows XP SP3

Gigabyte x38-DS4
2x1gb DDR2-800 Corsair XMS2 running @ 425mhz in DC
Geforce 8800GT oc'ed to 710 core, 1950 memory
Verizon EVDO Rev-A Wireless Broadband. Solid connection with 130ish ping in eq2/hellgate
Monitor: FW900 24inch Widescreen CRT, 1920x1200 90hz resolution.
AoC is going to be like any other high end mmorpg. It will want to eat as much CPU as it can. Long as you can stay above the bar, which i would think is 3.2Ghz DC these days, you should be fine. These games have always needed a better processor than a gpu to run at very high settings, less your speaking of extreme resolutions then both need to be beefy.
Why should my opinion be of any more merit than someone with a worse system again?
well this is a good thread
Windows Vista service pack 1 with direct X 10
2.2 GHZ dual core AMD
8800GS Superclocked
2 GB RAM
Should be enough to do something
flawless med settings average, 50/70 FPS
Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 320Mb (Driver Version: 6.14.0011.6921)
HD SATA2 7200 16MB
If im mistaken please post a link to your video card so I can look at it, becuase I didnt see it.
I'm ballin with:
Asus rampage forumla Intel x48 mobo, two VisionTek Radeon HD 3870x2 GPU, Coolmax 1200W power supply, Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz, 8GB OCZ Platinum DDR2 1066 ram, 7.1 Channel Sound Blaster X-Fi XtrememGamer, Vista Home Premium 64-bit
Sorry if I'm naive, but does "ballin" mean "fast" or "slow"? I just ordered the same Motherboard and CPU, but going with a single 9700 GTX, 4 gigs of G.Skill, 160 gig Raptor, and Fatality Champion. That board got awesome reviews and seems like an overclockers dream. Can't wait to get my hands on it. Picked up the Intel 8400 for $200.
Thanks guys, for making this a very informative thread.

The game plays great up until you get to the area right outside of Tortage. Then I can't even play it on the lowest settings. I get 3 fps. This is ridiculous! My computer is less than a year old and plays COD4 just fine. I would have thought an MMO would want to cater to as many people as possible. Do you all think this is only because of the Beta or will it be like this after launch?

I'd like to run AoC smoothly on a resolution of 1280x1024 - which component should I upgrade first? I'm thinking about buying a 9600GT 512, but do any of you techies think I should get a better processor instead perhaps?
Are some of you dense or what? If you post your spec's, then give a run down of how the game performed. Good or bad, it doesn't matter. We can care less what your rig has in it if you haven't played the game yet. And please don't post asking if your rig can run the game. If posters follow the pattern of listing spec's and then stating how the game ran, I'm sure your spec's will be covered in due time. This isn't a tech help thread. It's a spec/performance comparison.
You'd pretty much think it's implied that the game does not run smoothly if I post my question in the context of this thread with the accompanying question I had.
"I'd like to run it smoothly." = "It is not running smoothly. I'd like it to."
Still, I agree I posted the question in the wrong thread, perhaps. But I answered the topic's question, no doubt.
I don't recall pointing anyone out in particular. Relax!
