Very disappointed in this game

ghoul31ghoul31 Member Posts: 1,955

I have to say this game has been very disappointing.

1. Instances everywhere. You have these giants doors in the middle of the wilderness everywhere. How ridiculous. And you have 5 minute load times to get into these doors

2 . Invisible walls  everywhere. You cannot just roam freely around the world like in other games. You basically have to stay on the road and thats it.

3 The "revolutionary"  combat system is actually just pressing 1,2,3 over and over again.

4. very buggy and crashes all the time. A game 2 weeks from release shouldn't have this many bugs.

5 Very laggy around other people. You need a really good computer to play this game.

6 very poor skill customization. Very few skill to choose from. Can't choose your stats and such

The game has good graphics , but thats about it. It doesn't really have anything else good going for it. I know they haven't shown us the whole game, but this is the part they wanted to show us. And this part isn't very good.

The only thing that could save the game is if the PVP and sieges are really good.  I will have to wait and see on that. I certainly won't be  buying this game now.

See, you can't go by what the devs give you, cause they only tell you features, I went on and on about that and all the AoC fans would not take playability into account.  I'm 100% Warhammer for sometime now as I've been following what beta testers have been saying about AoC for a long time, I just hope all the belligerent AoC fans don't switch over to the Warhammer forums, because they have a closed mind.

If you think the combat system is mashing 1 2 3 over and over I don't think you fully are understanding it.   Also have to realize that your only going to level 13, so don't expect to have 20 different attack moves.  Your complaining that you can't chose your stats?   What was the last MMO that let you do that? Asheron's Call?  You actually do get skill points that can be applied to a number of assorted skills.   Also how slow is your computer that your taking 5 minutes to zone?

EDIT: Nevermind just saw your post history, case closed.

I played for like 5 hours and tried 3 different characters and guess what I fell asleep. Boring ass game, mobs dont animate right at all, engine looks fake in my opinion it resembles Gothic 3 or two moons actually. It looks like it belongs on a console say PS3. Did you ever play Unchartered Drake's Fortune? It kind of reminds me of that engine, plus what is with the complete rip from blizzard with the talent trees (feats lol) and the close up dialogue/cinematic with NPC's (rip off from Bioware's engine, The Witcher, NWN2, KOTOR etc).

The revolutionary combat crap is so generic and gimicky, spam combos with 123, 123 123 over and over ZZZZZZZ, falling asleep now!!!. Sorry this engine blows, game has no soul to it, kudos to Funcom for artwork though not bad but they should have released this on consolees only, too too consoley for me. Casters are a complete waste of time to play. You know why its level cap at 13? It is because the game is not finished yet, it sucks, they know it sucks and they just want to make a quick buck.

I logged back in to WOW and GW and actually had some fun.

All I have to say is that if you had to just play WOW from levels 1-10 it is a thousand times worse then Conan. I also dont understand all of the complaints with loading times. My PC is not top end at all and I ran the game on high graphics and had very minimal loading times. If you are playing on a 5 or 6 year old PC and expect it to run perfectly like your game of Pong then your certainly going to be disappointed. I have not really posted on this site but I have been following this game for a long time. I enjoyed Wow for 2 years but the kids are what ruined it and I am sure they will try to ruin Aoc. I just dont get it, I played all night and did not crash once...nor did I have any of the problems you ran into other then the invisible walls but you will find those in any game.

  • My fear is that the world will be cutted out in many parts and is going to be instanced. I hope that there will be many instances but i don't like the part where you actually make contents instanced.

I dont like having to see the loading screen everytime i go to a different place.

  • iamct2327iamct2327 Member Posts: 162

Game should be called Age of loading screens! LOL. Crap game, what a waste of time, loading screen every two min yey fun!. Funcom just made Blizzard more richer way to go Funcom.

    Go waste your money.

/sigh... yeah I'm afraid this is the way it's looking.  I was totally taken back when I first entered the game.  It was beautiful.  Then to find out everything's instanced to make up for those graphics.  I still want to cap when servers calm down and try other chars but I'm not hopeful.

I like some of their innovations like rotating gear in inventory but then why can't you rotate your character?  Very odd since that's standard in other games.

Problem is that people with extremely high end PC's are lagging also

If any of you had actually bothered to read the dev notes that are right there on the screen when you log in, you would know that the zoning lags is a known issue and that it's being worked on....sheesh.

Sounds like the OP have only played the first 5 levels which is more of a tutorial than an actual representation of how the zones are laid out.

As for spamming 1-2-3 to win battles, yes, that will work for you....at low levels. If you don't know how to properly use combos at advanced levels, you will be eaten alive, both in PvE and PvP.

All the people bashing ghoul for posting his experience with the beta.  Don't understand you bashing him.  Out of curiosity, why are the people bashing Ghoul not bashing the people posting threads saying how much they love the game from their beta experience?

    Seems very hypocritical to me.

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware

"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."

Understand what you're saying SlaySteele but so many of us have been burned by awful releases over the last couple of years, its natural to be sceptical.

Just take Vanguard as an example of where 'known issues' have taken over a year (if at all) to fix.

Anyway we're all hoping AoC will succeed (even the doomsayers) as we all need another MMO fix... ... just hard not to be a little concerned....

In response to the ignorant.  Blizzard did not create skill/talent trees.  This isn't even the retail client.  It's a linear game until you get to Hyboria, how many times do we have to smash this into your dumb skulls?  You are playing a tutorial part of the game, up to level 13.

It's as if people expect to have 90 different skills to choose from from the start.  Exactly what game ever let's you have every skill in the game before you hit max level?  Anyone?  I didn't think so.  The beta is meant to fix problems.  That is the point, that's why it's called BETA.  I can't stand stupid people.

If you are getting bored with this game after 5 minutes, go play WARHAMMER.  Have fun.  I'll stick to a real game.

  • vash79vash79 Member UncommonPosts: 72

I'm a little surprised at why people are saying the game is excessively buggy. I played for about 6 hours yesterday and other than some minor lag I didn't notice any bugs. Personally I didn't experience any more lag than I get I would on a busy night in Orgimar.

While I am sure the game is not optimized yet and I am not doubting that people are expericencing he issue they say they are having, I wonder if it has more to do with their system and the settings they are trying to play the game on.

Wait a second.... Do i need a computer from NASA to actually play this game???

Is this going to be worse then Vanguard release?

I'm sorry to blow your bubble, but what you see right now is what you will get.  No major features gets added in BETA.  At this point, all they will fix are crashes and maybe lag.  The rest will be as is.  Until they release their first update.

I don't even think NASA's computer will be able to play this game  without lagging.

But alas... welcome to online forums... ah well I'll judge for myself once I'm playing and let people know my honest thoughts... I'll write of the things I like, and the things I don't, and I can only hope that some readers will take away something good from it and ignore those who call people 'trolls' for having an opinion that isn't in line with their own...

There are obvious trolls, but not every person who has some negative feedback due to an experience/personal preference is a troll.

Quadcore and 8800GTS 320 MB 1900x1200 NO BLOOM  (turning bloom on halved my fps)  steady 30-50 fps, few times droped to 15 fps while fighting 6 pirates in the town... one CTD in 10 hour of gameplay. I have some concerns about loading time, but performance is fully acceptable for me.

I CAN PLAY THIS BETA SMOOTHER THAN I HAVE EVER PLAYED VANGUARD -  EVEN ONE YEAR AFTER RELEASE.

I am not impressed or amazed by this game but overall I like it and I will buy it. Especially that beta reveals only most basic features of it.

I thought they were using the engine Cheetah 1, but were switching to Cheetah 2 with launch.  Are you guys using Cheetah 2 right now?

I hate instancing and invisible walls. Neither of which will be removed for retail release. Both are immersion killers.
