Althought I am loving the game (specially the immersion) I couldnt let it go the fact that I am having terrible performance issue, with some freezing.. Before continuing, let me state my hardware:
Dual Core 2 E6320 (1.86 x 1.86)
2 GB DDR2
Geforce 8600 GT 512 MB
Windows Vista 32
That said I would like to reassure the problems of freezing (with no HD work) and some memory problem (maybe, because sometimes it freezes because of the HD work, I do think its because the disk cache). I am running my Vista without aero and a lot of background tweaks... Letting it almost nude...
I do know that there is a debugger running, which is putting some pressure on the performance. However, soem friends of mine with a little better machine are not complaining of performance.
Notice taht those friends are using a Windows XP instead of Vista.
I am installing now the Windows XP on my other partition to see if the things improve (sincerely, in the stage which the things are, it is not enjoyable, and, yes, I have olayed a little with the settings, but I am not going to thumb down anymore).
So, what I´d like to know from you, my fellow MMOPlayers, is how the game is running with you and your machines specs, both on Vista and XP... Then we can have a reasonable picture of AoC on some hardwares and systems... I, soon I install all the XP stuff, will post in here my impressions of different systems on the same machine, but before that I´d like to hear you all.
Thanks for the attention (I do speak too much and engish is NOT my native language, so sorry for any spelling mistakes).

I have a E6600, and I've been unable to play the game. This will be a majot issue for AoC. It's gonna kill this game, IMO. This and the fact that they never get the right pace to make thier combe system effective in PvP.
Are you running on XP or Vista? And how much memory do you have? I have a friend with less CPU power than you and he told me taht he is working it fine, almost without freezing (only on new areas, as he put). Thats my doubt, what is causing mostly problems on AoC performance? The system? memory (or the system sucking memory)? Video card?
I'm also intrested in how tis running for people, I have noted people with higher end systems saying it runs like crap and several people with rather low end systems saying it runs fine.
Granted crap and fine are relitive terms, a few intresting notes most of the major complants I have seen have been from people who whent out and grabed a big GPU for the game. . . I wonder if the card has appropreat power or if there are some issues with DX10 and or the new GPUs; its not uncommon for ATI and PNY to have issues with there newer cards especaly when it comes to gameplay.
For note I am running an
AMD 4400 X2;
3 gig PC 5600
ATI x1650 pro 512
heres the kicker I am running that on a 250 ps, really need 450+ on the ps for the graphics card I am running. . . I do plan on having a new ps by ship but wonder if any one was running AoC on that old of a GPU, and how it was running.
Quick edit I am also looking at an ATI HD 3600 512 to replace the x1650 pro hopfuly by launch or soon after.
With any luck I can get into the open beta they are running now an will post back my findings on the above specs.
Well..im holding out on this after my last two fiascos (Vanguard and POTBS) but early signs are a tad troubling-very Vanguard-like.
The AOC forums are rather filled with complaints about the performance. And of course the usual replies abound.
Like its just beta it will improve.
The debugging code is in place once this is lifted it will improve.
There are weeks until release it will improve.
You are running a crap system-what do you expect?
I have 4 gigs and its perfect!
I have 8 gigs and its awesome!
You expect to run this with only 2 gigs-what kinda results were you expecting?
You are running with Vista32, no wonder you arent getting performance!
Update your drivers!
This is EXACTLY what happened in Vanguard. Post after post defending and explaining away the awful performance in Beta. Followed by a disasterous release and a client/performance which is now rather famous for its awfulness.
Nobody wants AOC to be great more than me-but I must say, as an interested in observer from the sidelines I am deeply concerned about how well this thing will purr post release.
Game after game has proven that if you release a game that requires the absolute top specs, perfeclty tweaked in order to work-that the game will suffer. Read: EQ2 at release, Vanguard. I really hope this isnt the case in AOC.
Vista 32 bit.
AMD AM2 5200+
ATI 1950 512MB (Going for a 3870 when the price drops another $15-$20, currently is around $240)
3GB DDR2, 4 sticks 1+1+.5+.5.
Running the game with what is the default settings after install. Seen no performance issues, running in window mode somewhere around 1440x960. And in 1620x1050 fullscreen. The FPS varies beetween 20-30 on both, dont change noticable by using higher settings. I do turn of AA and whatever the other one is called. Minimal hitching, but a few times missing the character animation when moving.
I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.
"You have the right not to be killed"
Quad core 2,4 MHz overclocked to 3.3 MHZ
2 GB RAM
8800 GTS 320 MB
Windows Xp 32 bit
I play 1900x1200 res, shadows only for my character and viewing distance 2000m. Everything else on high (but many options are fixed in beta client)
90% of the time i get about 30-50 fps, falling sometimes down to about 15 when fighting a big fight. I also have some issues with loading time - sometimes it takes 15 sek and other time 5 minutes...
Gonna check my FPS in a few to see what I am really at I get good performance when it wasn't lagging or small freezes for like 1-2 secs every now and then. I ran it on full and windowed mode. It wasn't terrible performance but the PVP weekend I did get alot better performance I had to log out and back in a few times in large areas as some people said it would freeze and go down to like 1-2 fps but coming back in I would be at 50-60 fps with a room full of people and running 60 fps in the starting area constant with only a few hiccups. But this open beta build I have been getting alot more hiccups.
I am running a 3.2 ghz or so duel core processor (AMD 6400+),4 GB PC2 6400 Ram, Nvidia 8800 GTS 512 MB videocard, and the PS is like 700w. So I know everything is fine I run alot of other games with no hiccups at all. So maybe it's just as old build as someone said and I know someone else said it wasn't using both cores for duel core processors yet or something.
But really it has been horrible I stopped playing last night and I saw so many people complaining and it was most folks with almost the same specs as mine I did notice folks with lower end card and such saying they were running smoother so maybe it is the duel core's or some other issues. But gonna try it again today.
i thought vanguard after I entered the real world. i was playing the solo play at 1680-1050 HIGH and it was ok- some hitching when mobs came at times.
after the isle part, i lowered all my settiings to low, shadows off, 1440 rez.
seems the longer i play the worse it got- indicates a memory leak of some sort.

I kept the settings on the default and quite frankly the game looks great. I'm running it at 1900 by 1250 (or whatever that is... wide screen) and I do occassionally get the "freeze up" which people are calling lag spikes. I think it's more that textures are loading and the system freezes up. However, it's not all the time.
The game has never crashed on me while playing but it did crash when I had exited. I reported it as a bug.
Other than that I find it quite playable at this point in time.

I think many people just sets the resolution to high for they rigs to handle.
well I keep getting alot of crashing with the game stopping I am running Windows mode when it was up it stayed at 64 fps but then after a bit would go way down and kinda stop and then it wouldn't respond. I am going to wait for release and see if they fix some of these problems no reason to sit here trying to play if it isn't working for me not sure what's up.
Your running Vista on a machine with only 2gigs of ram. Thats your first problem.
