Cthulhuvong... Star Wars Galaxies is the worst maintained MMORPG, if you believe otherwise you OBVIOUSLY havent looked at very many other games, or this one for that matter. Look at the condition? What can you do other than CHAT and not get a glitch... But whats funny is, you can even get chat glitches! Weeeee!
Roleplaying other than combat? Yeah I understand that, I mean, its not like you can actually jump in and save your friend in some trouble by doing some kind of matrix flip into the middle of the fight in a "stategical" game. But what roleplaying are you talking about? Crafting? How in the hell? Chatting? Wow... I didn't know that was roleplaying. Sounds like fun. You're better off playing a MUD, though. Wait! I got it! Lets have a race thats distinctly limited because of a lack of customization options! Or, we could see who has the prettier house?
Oh, and um, my opinions are supported by another million or so ex-Star Wars Galaxies players, and(rofl) even some of the current players. Even if these are opinions, votes count. SOE is just now beginning to realize that, but even so they most likely won't be good at it. And people that aren't looking for much of a change in the game(you) are making it harder for others to get a better experience out of it. Think about that.
Also, I stated in an earlier post that you "shouldn't defend it". "Shouldn't" is more of a suggestion, I didn't tell you to do anything. I never stated anything was fact, either. Oh, and when you said, "I will defend this game against all arguments that are, IN MY OPINION, bad arguments," explain how pointing out bugs in a game that could of been fixed nearly a year ago are bad? Thats more than opinion, thats ignorance.
OK, I'm going to try and respond without flaming or attacking you, but I might fail. Originally posted by Vordoen Cthulhuvong... What can you do other than CHAT and not get a glitch... But whats funny is, you can even get chat glitches! Weeeee! Ok, so I start up the game, get in, join my friends, go get buffed, go hunting, use our specials, our food, and our spices, once we get tired of that we go back to town, maybe I'll craft something, some of them will duel each other, we'll watch/listen to live (not AFK) entertainers, talk to people, talk in group/guild chat, get healed, go check our harvesters, and Roleplay our characters the entire time. The only glitches we ever get will be that maybe someones bike won't store (goes away in a minute or so) and sometimes berserk takes 2 or 3 times to work (slowly working on TKA). Thats it. Any other problems come up once in a while, but are never game-breaking. Roleplaying other than combat? Yeah I understand that, I mean, its not like you can actually jump in and save your friend in some trouble by doing some kind of matrix flip into the middle of the fight in a "stategical" game. Lets have a race thats distinctly limited because of a lack of customization options! Or, we could see who has the prettier house? By roleplaying other than combat, I mean we have a few problems where the combat system interferes with roleplaying and the rules we have set up for it. Sometimes people DB when roleplaying, and our city has a strict "No DB" rule. Also, when you want to help a friend out, sometimes people don't see the duel messages, and that can create confusion and backlash (several times our town security couldn't save some townsfolk because of this). As for the other roleplaying, well if you don't like roleplaying here you don't have to. I enjoy it. I have to make decisions based on how my character acts, even if I know it is a bad decision out of character. We don't talk about game mechanics unless we absolutely have to. We play the game as if our characters were actually in the middle of the Galactic Civil War between the Rebellion and the Empire. And we also react as such. When an outbreak of a new disease happened in our city after a Rebel raid, news organizations (both in emails and on the boards) were claiming that the rebels had spread the disease amongst the population. We act as if our characters we're in the middle of a war, and to some extent we are. The GCW has slowed down a little, but there are still raids, still bases, and still people willing to fight. Because of the roleplaying, we still have a purpose in the game. I have been to court marshalls where rebel commandos (NPCs, thanks devs) and a jedi (PC, thanks you brave and stupid girl) tried to stop the proceedings. I've been to beautiful weddings, drunken bar brawls, and a whole host of other events. I have been a part of stories that twist and turn, that change on some chance encounter, on something that was accidentally said. This is what roleplaying is. Oh, and um, my opinions are supported by another million or so ex-Star Wars Galaxies players, and(rofl) even some of the current players. Even if these are opinions, votes count. Thats more than opinion, thats ignorance. I didn't say your opinions weren't supported, I said that you presented them as fact, since you didn't say "in my opinion" or "I believe." You said that this game was the worst maintained RPG ever, and that is an opinion. And I don't know where you get the "million or so ex-Star Wars Galaxies players" from; maybe if you count those that have played the trial and not gotten the game that would be true, but there is no way that Galaxies has lost that many accounts. Maybe if you showed proof instead of spouting hopes and opinions as facts, I may believe you. All I am saying is at the moment, I am having fun. If they don't continue putting out publishes, I'll quit. If they go, "game is fine, don't worry," I'll quit. If they remove things that work fine, I'll quit. But they aren't doing that. Publish 9.2 just went out (2 new wookiee armors and a new race track), and 9.3 is on the way. 10 will be out by the end of August (probably a week or so late to make some hot fixes). JtL should be out by late October, early November. While we're all amazed by that, they'll work on the Combat Balance. Hell, I don't even care about the Combat Balance; I dont fight that often), but I do realize that a lot of people do and were waiting for it. I say those people should have just quit. Vote with your wallet and quit, but instead they stayed on and so have voted with their wallets to stay. I do believe the game needs changing. I know combat isnt quite right. I know there are problems. But just because of that, it doesnt mean that its the worst ever. Most MMOs have multiple problems when they first come out. Hell, Anarchy Online was unplayable for the first 6 months ( I know, I tried to play, couldnt even get in because of missing files that I wasnt able to install and werent in any patches, plus no one at their customer service could help me). Now its fun, or at least more fun than it could have ever been in its first months. Think about Galaxies a year ago. Has it not changed? Besides all the content they put in, they have fixed so many bugs that its insane. Sure, we still slide a little and our bikes have some problems, but many problems have been fixed. I dont argue that bugs arent a problem, thats like arguing that bombs dont hurt when they are dropped on you. I argue that I can find ways to survive until the bugs are fixed, as long as they arent game-breaking. If they are, I will post on the boards how they are, and if the devs dont listen or convince me otherwise, I will leave. But so far, this hasnt happened. Yes, SOE has horrible management. But Galaxies has great devs. Ones that truly love to play this game. As soon as the expansion is out, most of SOEs management will be too busy with EQ2 to worry about Galaxies, and the Devs will be able to spend more time on things they feel is important, and wont have to spend there time meeting deadlines. Its not that Im trying to ruin other peoples experiences in the game, quite the opposite. Im trying to show alternatives to the problems until the problems are fixed. If you want to play the game, play it. If you want to wait for something to come out, dont wait in game (unless youre saving up, like for JtL). When they push something back that you were waiting for, quit until its in. Dont complain on the boards, or to the devs, complain with your wallet. In this capitalist world, its one true freedom we will always have.
