Looking for New Game - Thanks Netzoko

HossinnHossinn Member Posts: 2

Greetings!

Before I ask my question let me first start by saying thank you to Netzoko for your great Unofficial "What MMO To Play Thread!

I am one of those men, lucky enough to have a wife that was open to the idea of "trying" out gaming, for the first time in her life...our first game together was SWG and she/I was hooked. That was about 4 years ago.

However, for one reason or another, our history has been one of "ping ponging" around from MMO to MMO for the past 4 years, partly looking for that "first time experience". Each time we start something new, we get a bit of that. We both love starting out, leveling, gaining new gear/special moves, etc. The "end-game" experience is not really what we are looking for. Additionally, we like PVP every now and again, but PVE is our favorite...now, we find ourselves once again, ready for a change. The games we have played in the past are: SWG, WOW, L2, Ryzom, Guild Wars, DAOC, EQ2, DnD, and now we both have level 70 chars in WOW again...

The reason for my post is that we are looking for our next game. The next one we play could be something totally new, or a return to one from the past. Netzoko's post is very helpful, but it does not address the following issues that we have:

We have had a ton of fun leveling to 70 in WOW, with the exception of some of the relatively immature players that are also playing. We have a good guild that has been doing end-game content for the past 6 months, while my wife and I have strived to reach 70. Now that we are there, we came to the disappointing realization that we don't have the time to really take advantage of WOW anymore (example: Karazan, which CAN take UP TO 5 hours to complete). We have a 2 year old child and another on the way in July. We would like to find a game that is best focused on the casual gamer, like us, that play typically 3 hours a day, maybe more on the weekend.

That's it! Like I said, we have enjoyed the WOW experience, and just realized yesterday, that the time issues are forcing us to move on. My first thoughts are EQ2 (again) or Final Fantasy (first time).

Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you in advance for your time.

Try Age of Conan it releases in about 2 weeks.

They have said in many interviews that their raid content is anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours for most zones.

They also have a new combat system that is different than most other games, but does take some time getting used to.

I have been bouncing around from game to game just like you and your wife. AoC is something completely new that should keep us busy for a while.

I really like what Ilittle  have seen with AOC!

The only thing that worries me, as a family man, is the violence. Is it going to be in your face violence (heads and limbs rolling off in every battle) or just here and there? I'm not sure my wife would be down with too much violence, and especially if my 2 year old son is ever watching us play (doesn't happen too often cause we usually play after we put him down).

The wife is also very drawn to high fantasy (casters, healers, druids,etc.). Are these types of classes offerred  in AOC or is it mainly warrior type classes?

    Thank you for your reply!
