Registration for customers with pre-order keys has now opened.

Registration for customers with pre-order keys has now opened on http://register.ageofconan.com. Registering with a valid pre-order key (such as the Rhino or Mammoth key) is the unique way to be eligible to purchase Early Access for 5€/5$. This fee includes 10 days of game-time as well as the digital download of the client. Hurry though, because the Early Access is only available while supply lasts!

Note that pre-order items such as the Rhino and Mammoth is not available on Early Access accounts. Once an Early Access account is upgraded with the retail key, the virtual item can be claimed. The originally planned level capping of the Early Access has been removed.

The launch date for early access in Europe has been moved forward! Both the US and EU servers open on the 17th of May (5pm GMT). This date used to be the 20th for the EU servers, thus European players are now getting 6 days of early access until the regular launch on May 23rd!

This cap didn't really bother me at all, but I'm sure some people will be happy. Those few that want to get to 80 asap without enjoying the game. But hey, play how you want and have fun :P.

    Good find, OP.

    Good fine, OP.

On a FFA PvP server, this headstart is a major asset.

If you want to gank. :P

No, I honestly completely understand. I'll be playing on a PvP server as well, and I know how the guilds will be trying to advance as fast as possible to tank control of the server.

We all knew it would happen. It just means most of us wont be a part of the land grab rush.

They should have given you a code soon after you preordered. I would contact them soon (at least before May 14th) to get your code. This code will unlock your preorder gift and give you early access if you want to pay $5 (which you should :P).

If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

I wonder how the people on these forums are going to spin this into something negative to troll about.

To get the in game critter you register for game access. In game you will be able to hit a button to get the critter at level 40. That is when mounts become available. The access key you type in tells them which critter came from the retailer you chose. Pretty easy. Look at the preorder box to see which critter came with the code. I'm getting the Rhino. Looks a lot like my ex wife. (j/k)

Did someone mention troll?  Let me help you out with that.

SMART move!  But seriously, it was a NO BRAINER and why it was any other way is mind boggling to begin with.  There should have never been a cap on a 3 day heard start.

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:

Interesting they removed the cap.  That means most likely we will see many people hit level 80 before the 3 day headstart ends and before the game is actually released.

Well considering in the last radio interview with the lead designer where he said that casual players should be able to reach level 80 in 2-3 months, and the more hardcore players in 1 month or less I doubt they will get it in 3 days.  7-8 days of playtime(7-8 x 24hrs) seems to be what they are going for.

So, for the people who zerg their way to 80, do they have fun? Or is that not the point of MMOs these days?

I am in the closed beta and while I cannot comment specifically on the lack of content and the leveling speed as I do not want to break the NDA.   I do expect many people will reach level 80 before the 3 day headstart period ends and I beieve you can find justification for this argument outside the NDA.

They zerg their way to 80 for a lot of different reasons.  People take pride in being FIRST.  One of the many things that you need to remember is a lot of FIRSTS ultimately control server economies.  After all, once they to the top they will either be ganking/griefing, building their player cities/battle keeps, or cornering the economy.  What I look forward to the most is going in and not only stealing someone's battle keep, but destroying all of their hard work, and then doing it over and over and over again.  Let other people build so me and my guild can play wrecking crew.

Haha we are playing forum tag.  It is unfair because I don't normally play much on weekends and was hoping that everyone would get stuck at 20 and I could catch up Monday.  Now my plans are shot!

Yeah i too have problems convincing my current partner that i need to play on weekends. The good thing is that Thursday the 22nd is a bank holiday here and i got Friday off, so that gives me 2 days to go nuts without any serious repercussions.

I think a sensible cap at 30 or maybe 40 would have been better than no limit.
