Well ill be playing a female and male i dont care its a game.
I dont prefer any gender. It denpends on the game and immersion and if i find good people to do some roleplay. I so want to roll a priest of mitra and i cant see this class on a male character. If the game is real fun i ll roll a male alt too.

I'll take option five please? In all seriousness, i'll make a male persona first and then a female one possibly.
I'll be making a male. i've never been one to have a female in game for some reason. just always preferred being a male in game.
A male, don't see the need to make both.

not a fan of crossdressing myself. some people like to pretend to be girls, better here than in rl i guess.(and please dont give me the I like to see a female backside thing, you can always stick a swimsuit model poster up if that was the real motivation)
My Cimmerian barbarian and bear shaman are male; my demonologist or necro are female. For once the male models in this game actually look studly and badass; I'm tired of WOW's boring oafs or the metrosexuals of Guild Wars. But on the other hand, the female toons are truly hot for an MMOG. Say what you will about putting up a pin-up instead - you'll be staring at the same butt for hundreds of hours. Might as well play what you want to play.
I don't think anyone should be creeped out about playing a different gender in a game, unless you start actively roleplaying that gender. I do know one guy friend who plays a girl toon and flirts to get free stuff, which is where I draw the line.

On a serious note. I will play males and its always been like that, it seems weird to me playing a female when i'm actually male. I don't know i just can't place my finger on it. Just weird to me.
I like both models in the game. It's the first time that I actually do like the male models in an MMO or any other 3d game. Both look natural (barring the romanticization of the perfect proportions even for the fattening sliders), and both look great in their armor. When I was on the White Sands Isle in the Day mode, I almost forgot I was playing a game and not watching a movie. O_O Then again my eye sight is crap.

My hope is that I'll one day run into a female character while out doing a quest, or maybe help her with a PK situation. We'll become good friends in-game and hang out together. One day we'll join the same guild and spend our evenings playing with each other and bonding even more. Eventually one of us will get the idea to use some sort of voice-chat system and I'll be very relieved to find out she is really a 23 year old female. The voice-chat will start to warm things up and soon we'll be swapping pictures. I'll be amazed to find out that I have begun a relationship with the only extremely attractive, single, and non-Asian woman who likes to play anything other than Bejeweled and especially likes playing MMORPGs.
We'll continue to carry on a real-life relationship despite living 300 miles away from each other. Two years from now one of us will finally make a true commitment and move to where the other lives. Previously I had driven out to visit her for a week and so things are not as awkward as they could be. Finally after months of perfect happiness I'll pop the question and we'll soon be married. We will honeymoon in England and then Ireland(avoiding all the crappy Tourist spots). When we finally get home we'll have moved on from AoC, but of course we'll always be fond of it. Soon after we'll be surprised to find we are going to have twins(Boy and Girl). In an odd twist we'll decide to name the boy after my AoC character and the girl after her AoC character. We'll then win the lottery and etc....
Now, if I were to first run into my future wife playing a female character I have serious doubts that our relationship would develop in much the same way. On top of that, we wouldn't have a good name for our son.
I like to think things through. I suggest everyone else do the same. You wouldn't want to ruin your lives.
maybe we smell a little bit of insecurities about yourself? I play females, males, orcs, goblins, and whatever kind of race i can play. If ur a dude playing a chick its because you would rather see cartoon female your mmo career vs a cartoon male your mmo career. Not like your getting ur jollies off topless toons on AoC anyways.

As a married woman it is of no consequence to me one way or the other, but if I end up divorced (God I hjope not!) then I know the route to take!

Oddly enough... I have seen that very scenario play out... as well as people who set out to break the marriage of others so they can have their gaming companion as a mate....
People are strange.
What is even stranger is when the girl turns out to be a guy! lol
