i guess im one of the lucky people who got the most unstable beta version there is
loads of bugs
unplayable without restarting every hour or so
have to turn down everything to low to just get it running right for limited time
quad geforce 8800 4gb Raid 0
good luck all
im not even touching this without a trial that shows a very stable release

Its been the same for me I would have to restart or the game would just keep losing performance and then it would crash.
Im not having much luck either. Just dosnt run well with my comp and im not about to upgrade for a game. From what I can see though it looks great, hope those of you that i running fine have fun.
didnt you hear? its us haters who only can't run the game...it runs great for everyone!
It just blows me away that you all are having such troubles. I am running it on a pos rig and I've only crashed a couple times in about 6 hours of gametime.
But ....... i thought it was clear for everyone by now that you need to buy the best of the best computer for Age of Conan. It dont run on anything else!!! I agree with you completely. What is really making me laugh on this board is when fanbois is giving examples of computers needed for running this game!!
If developers is making such a demanding game that just about noone can run it smoothly then its a failed game, easy as that. And i cant in my wildest imagination see before me how a 200+ battle will lag on this crapgame.
if your having a hard time understanding ill spell it out for ya. Its not just about how much memory you have or what your procesor speed is. in my case i own a sony laptop, sony has the rights to the nvidia grafix card that is in my machine so noone but sony can update my grafix card, since sony has neglected to produce even one update for my grafix card i cant play because my driver needs an update that dosnt exist. its really annoying that so many people are so flip and in thinking that just because they can run the game that everyone should beable to. are you still so "blown away"

Priceless.
Lol consider yourself lucky In all honesty it is by far one of the worst betas i ve seen ever. Too bad was wanting to play it , but theres no way in hell im upgrading after i just did 2 months ago. I said it before this game is a total hit or miss with systems. This is what you get when you go for graphics over quality game overall.
I am gonna give it another shot in 3-4 months or so if they have a free trial after they lose all their subs.

Lol ya true. I know a few that did this as well
go read the beta q & a on this site all of you whiners. if the beta sucks for you oh well. no one should give final judgement on the game until launch
I'll see your bunny and raise you cheesehead fail cat......
if you really are un-installing your beta some of us would appreciate the key so we could try the game (hint: me).
Can you send me you beta key? I will up the anti to 2 well done cheeseburgers.
Sorry, my key found a good home with Brangelina. It now joins Shiloh, Maddox, Zahara and Pax as the only other 4 people who can play with this.
What a relieve that would have been for you huh. xD
Solution1; The beta client doesn't support either multiple cores nor dx10. Explains alot huh?
That's why im lagging like mad. (even though after a few fixes and tweaks im gettign decent fps)
And about those looong pesky loading screens. I used to have 10mins, i have 10seconds now.
People that just pops into the game. notice how it lags and is unplayable then uninstalls it and comes here to bash it should not call themselves gamers at all.
The speed of the mole and the power of steel is my weapon
exactly thats the problem, if they cannot get their client to run good enough on all systems above min required spec then they will head into a lot more flaming and bad propaganda than they are getting now.
most people here are realistic and not expecting stellar performance on a 2 years old computer but if its above the min spec that they set then it should be able to run without constant crashing, 5 minutes loadscreans and constant stalling.
while i can see that the debugger affects stalling to a limited level (if its bad then it won't go away by just removing debugger), i cannot see why a debugger should increase loading times on loadscreens from 20 seconds to 5 minutes+. also a debugger usually does not cause the crashing its usually just in there to get good crash reports.
So its mainly the crashing problem and the long loadscreens that need fixing now, and from what i have seen there are a lot different fixes on forums that work for some but hurt performance for others. While trying these fixes i got from playable with 5minutes+ loadscreens to crashes all 5-10 minutes with 5 minutes loadscreens, which was absolutely no fun, you just get in game move 2-3 steps and then crash. 2-3 times the crash also crashed my gfx driver so i had to reboot.
then i finally found the fix that works for my setup (delete all shaders.cache files) and don't start with launcher start direct from exe (to avoid that patcher doenloads a shader cache again). as long as i don't have any shaders cache game runs good and even stalls improved. which is a bit strange cause shaders cache should improve just these stalls by avoiding the compiling but in my case it was faster to let them compile on demand than using the cache file funcom patches.
Anyway i am sure that this fix doesn't work for everyone and for some people it will probably just make game worse and more unplayable.
also it does not really help to see that after a patch yesterday evening (gmt) the closed beta server is still not up cause of technical problems with this patch. (i hope i am not breaking any nda, but first 13 levels are open to talk even on closed beta and server beeing down after a patch affects first 13 levels too so i guess its ok)
this all leads me to the point that funcom has to find a solution for this in the next week to get it tested by a wide population before the early access starts.
I must be a real hater then, that is why I swapped video cards, tried 5 or 6 sets of drivers, and am now in the process of re doing a 30 hour download to tru and get it to run. Amazing the lengths we haters will go through just to try and run a game we so obviously hate.
Oh and I am on WinXP and DX 9, so it is not just a Vista thing
I miss DAoC
i agree just bashing without trying any fixes should not happen on a beta, but if you try the officially listed solutions (was in a funcom post) and some of these these make everything worse (some to a degree that even gfx drivers crash and windows needs a reboot). then i guess we got a right to complain about stability.
And once this game goes life and people pay for playing then i also can understand everyone that has a pc above min spec to want it to run good enough to play it on low settings. if the min spec are too low then funcom needs to adjust them in time before release, before people can start to preorder.
I had the same experience (and feeling) when I tried the OB client for the first time. My hardware
is similar to yours.
But after reading and applying the suggested fixes (older nvidia driver, assign CPU Core 1 etc)
the game runs flawless with no crashes at all.
Did you ever try the suggested fixes ?
Well im in open beta right from the hour 1. And i must say that i have mixed feelings.
At first i had real trouble with good fps timings.
But after the first patch im running at max settings possible without lagging and my loading times are around 1-2 seconds.
My PC is : Q6600 with 4 MB RAM and ATI 2900XT (ASUS STALKER) with latest drivers. Running Vista 64 Ultimate.
What really troubles me is that i still crash a lot. Every 15 minutes or so. But sometimes im able to play for an hour or so without crashing. I do not experience any slowdowns or staggering most of the time. If it hangs, it is for a second or two and it has been days since there was any trouble with FPS. Do note im running max settings. And we are talking dx 9 here ,since dx 10 is not available. Sure you can pick it in settings, but it doesn't do anything. Since dx 10 is supposedly faster and better than 9 - we might get even better performance at release.
On a general note, this has been a pleasant experience, aside the crashing part (But hey it is freaking beta). And i am sure by now everyone understands that this issue is being and will be taken care of since there is a lot at stake here. I have pre-ordered AoC many months ago. If you are serious mmorpg veteran like me i think you should just get it and see for yourself how it turns out instead of taking too seriously the beta problems that might not be there at launch. Unless you are somewhat of an oracle i suggest to just wait and see. And i doubt there will be any trials at launch.
