Conan1, Conan1972, Conandude...Please don't do this!

Curiosity has got the better of me and I just went and ordered a copy of AoC.  I figure I am mid 30's, working in a professional job and if I can't afford to waste my money now then when can I?  However today I suddenly felt sick at the thought of all the unimaginative twats out there who are going to call themselves Conan.  Of course the biggest twat of them all will get in first and grab the holy grail of names then we are going to be left with Conan1, Conan2, Conan23, Conanlove, Conanhung, Conanballs, Conanman, ConanR2D2, Conanrules....List is endless!  I so hope they have a ban on anyone calling themselves Conan or even part of otherwise I may find myself on the RPG server and that is just too embarassing when my wife watches me gaming.

I may end up like this.  "Hail fellow traveller!  Where ye be going on this fine morrow?" 

"Bah!  I be slicing your head from your shoulders you overgrown monkey!"

The char creation wont let you choose a name with any variation of the word conan in it. Shame I thought Conansnan had a ring to it

Well I hope the names get filtered by the time release is out....I am sick of seeing names like 'Assass', "Asshat','BigD*ck', 'Imakillah' n yes I have seen a few 'Conan' variations too...

Hmm... so Conanobrian is out too...darn...that was going to be my first choice...... 

I hope they enforce their naming conventions..... would be nice if they'd close somoene account for a day for choosing a poor name.

As far as beta goes, I've yet to see somone with names like that.  In fact, most of the names I've seen have been pretty darned good.

Character name cannot have numbers or any names like Conan or any item or name from  the official Conan lore as far as I know.

Apparently the upcomming rp server will have name restriction. Will be interesting to see if it will be as good as i watn it to be.

 

And yes. my folder to age of conan beta is named Conan the librarian.

They should have a warning at character generation stating any 'stupid' names will have that 1 day ban as a post said earlier.  Even if they didnt do it, it would make people think twice.  Have a 'report a stupid name' option

You can't have the word "conan" inside your character name. I tried it.

I was able to make a character by the name of "leetcunan" though. Was a lot of fun getting hate from people.

I never stoop so low as to make retarded names like that, I ususaly throw together letters and try to make a name out of them

 

such as Kyero, Ryuuya, Ryosu, Dorgon, and a few others I cant think of right now.

Still, as a beta tester, I felt it was my obligation to see what could get past the name filter... When my friend and I created a female character we tried Slutia, Slutteria... no go.

We did get Hussy and Skank and Trollop though... beware Funcom!

Considering the PvP heavy element I can see plenty of smack talk going on.  AoC is a classic example of a game that has a huge following before launch, decent background to work off, great ideas and ultimately it will survive by the maturity of its players.  They seriously need to try and nurture a serious and mature audience otherwise players like me will leave and jump onto WAR or the like.  So hope this doesn't turn into some fantasy smacktalk fest.

One of the best feature with LOTRO to keep more ppl in the lore....try inputting a popular name from another game or final fantasy...most will pop up saying you can't use this name cause it doesn't fit the lore!
