What can i say LOL ...... It's really something you know , those poeple trying to convince us at all cost not to plat AOC. Its like our life is at stake !!!!! its dangerous !!!!! If you buy AOC you might die !!!! lol Come on be serious guys , its just a game and some poeple want to try it so what ? Stop trying to stop us , the game is not perfect? of course its not ... The game have issue? yes it does and not small one if you ask me. So what ? I still wanna try it , it's not like I 'm risking my life or anything , or maybe I am .... Maybe there is things haters know and I dont ...I'm a little scared now I played WoW and I did enjoy it , but there is a end to everything WoW is way to old for me , I know WoW way to much to enjoy playing it anymore and I'm sure there are plenty poeple just like me , who are willing to risk 50 bucks on a game to have something new they can enjoy.

And it's not a choice between WoW and AoC for me. WoW is a non-issue. When I cancelled my WoW account a while back, I couldn't even be bothered to log in for the last 2 weeks it was active - now that was some wasted money!
Posts like this one reek of fanaticism. The claims of trying to help people ring false, as there are hundreds of games (and movies, DVDs, music CDs, etc) released every year that don't have FUD attached to them for little reason. After all, what reason is there to care how someone spends some of their extra money, unless you're worried how it will affect the competing product that you're attached to?

The game graphics are so demanding that your computer could very well overheat and explode from just playing the game for minimal time. That again could disrupt the electrical setup in your house, cause a fire and burn down your house and you die.
There might might also be a risk of the internet collapsing from all the traffic related to AoC.
Think I read it on the Warhammer forum, or was it WoW...
I am sorry m8,normally I agree with your posts but this statement I dont,

Can you back up this?or again like so many other's just pull a number out of your head?
I know you maybe have YOUR doubts but they are YOUR doubts,If you can show me a pre-order selling list I maybe will agree, not to point out that almost every european seller is now sold out of the CE I find you point hard to believe and also that they cant get enough OB keys to please ppl even though OB is near its end...This could be agrued till the sun come's up but the truth is niether you or me know the number's so why assume them?
If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"
wow is a good game, i admit that, but it just isnt for me, the main thing is the cartoony graphics and the way blizzard is doing their major expansions (TBC, add 10 levels, even the best epic gear from before the expansion came out was worse then the worst green drop in outland...WoTLK, they are going to do the same thing) blizzard is for the casual MMO gamer, that's why a lot of people play it...games like AoC and EVE and such are for more serious/hardcore MMO gamers
What I still wrestle with is that if I do wait a few months you don't get that excitment of playing the game at launch. Its almost the same idea of seeing a good movie on opening night. The theatre is full and it creates a more exciting time. Wait a few months and leveling up is a far less populated experience which has its plusses and minuses.
Playing ANY MMO at launch is a nightmare..
Too crowded. Everybody stumbles over each other and it is NOT because you miss the first days that you'll always be behind the first to go in.
In this case of Conan every sign is there that points to a very rocky and unstable (technical) launch so I think that you don't need to feel guilty in missing "the opening night". There will be many more nights to come.
I take it you never played LOTRO on launch day then.

Ultimate question? Wow? No thanks. I could never get into Wows kiddie cartoony graphics. As for AOC, I will only try it when it's free. No I will not pay for a fileplanet account. They can bite me. Commercialism is the worst thing to happen to MMO's. Games I play PVP-EVE Where PVP is not a "minigame", and LOTRO for PVE. A very well done PVE MMO. Games I look forward to are neither AOC or WAR, I am looking at Earthrise, Fallen Earth, and Champions online.
Free for all PvP in the normal world is a mini game? Keep sieging is a mini game? People got in OB for free already through fileplanet after the subscribers got in first.
At the end of the day I think the reason why AoC is getting so much hate or so much love is very simple,It is the 1st TRUE AAA+ title to release in quite sometime, yes we potbs and TR but this is the 1st true 1 I think since LOTRO,now come the end of the year we could have, lets see,WAR,AION,TCoS and maybe 1 or 2 other's if <cough>they meet there release date's,atm AoC is getting it from every mmo player,it doesnt matter if it is there sort of game or not,MMo player's at this moment are a fustrated bunch(well they normally are anyway)so this is the main target and tbh how other game's will be judged this year.
Lets look at the bright side at least(for whatever reason,)(thought I would cover myself here)FC are releasing and not delaying for whatever reason and we can at least play something new .
If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"
I am going to add something to this thread that might have already been said and I know it was late, but none the less, this advice should apply to any new MMO that you are planning on playing, not just AoC and WoW.
MMOs Played: I can no longer list them all in the 500 character limit.
The main issue that bugs me about the OP, its written as if every mmo'er has played or is playing WoW. I have a few mmo playing buds who never touched WoW...they play EQ2 and Eve and are very excited for AOC. I think that one of the main reasons people flame WoW fanbois is because they seem to be very arrogant when assuming every gamer has or is playing WoW....and that is simply not true.
wow is a good game, i admit that, but it just isnt for me, the main thing is the cartoony graphics and the way blizzard is doing their major expansions (TBC, add 10 levels, even the best epic gear from before the expansion came out was worse then the worst green drop in outland...WoTLK, they are going to do the same thing) blizzard is for the casual MMO gamer, that's why a lot of people play it...games like AoC and EVE and such are for more serious/hardcore MMO gamers
Actually I might not be surprised at all if Funcom decides to do the whole "up 10 lvls, new endgame, leave old endgame dead" thing.
They have allready set the end level to 80, like it will be in WoW... and EQ2...
And there are other things to that remind me of WoW, like the exclamation/questionmarks hanging over NPC heads, and ofc the capture the flag PvP, that leaves world PvP with less action (?)
So to me AoC isn't perfect, but I think I'll enjoy it anyway. And i'll probably stay with it until i see something better
maybe you plan to wait, not me. I have been playing for some time and the patchest keep getting better and better.
Once the game is live I will be having fun. I dont care if it is better than WoW (to me it is) and I dont care if WoW remains the more popular game. All I care about is having fun and I know from fact that I will have fun in AoC.
So all you haters and trolls ... you wont deter me!!

While it wasn't my post, but there are two simple reasons why the subscriptions will stay at 200 or 300K.
First:
the tech specs : go look to your next computer game store and see what the people are buying.
No the mainstream isn't the 3GByte 8800GTS with 10K rpm hard disk. That's 5% of the market.
Second reason is that gameplay isn't there ... yet.
Higher graphics coupled with loading times of every building, zone or scenario you enter isn't game play. It's a show off (with serious hic-ups) at the moment of some more pixels..
Show offs don't sell games. They are mostly a fad and fads don't live long.
IF Conan happens to have game play after all, well than they could double these figures, but until than I think the man is right about the 200K subs.
O BTW subs aren't copies sold. Subs are the long term users who pay to play for months to come.
LOL,I think I know what a sub is,again ok I maybe see your point that alot of game's sold are the 5 euro game's for system's built 5 years ago,but your "5% of the market" is also very flawed, hell how many of that(as you call it) 95% even play on-line game's?I am sorry but again you are going under the "I can shout but cant prove file"
Look I cant prove anything all I do know is everyone is different and you saying "yep 200k subs"is just being stupid as you have no idea how this game will release and indead how many ppl will sub with decent pc system's.
I could say like you"hell everyone has good system's now and everyone wants a new game and this is the game for them and I think it will get 2 mil subs"
Something wrong with the above statement?
Yep I cant prove it and is alot of nonsense.
If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"
ffs the 2 mil I said was an example<sigh>I do believe though that LOTRO went upto 1 mil and faded,At the end of the day I stand by my point, you have no idea what this game will be on release date or indeed how well it will do,you are just using your own point of view on the matter and everyone(thank god)is an individual.

LOTRO highest point was 1.3 %(now 0.9) It would mean that about 350 K subs was the maximum they had ever. They had the lore, they had the mass market, they had the medium computer market.
Now look at the MMO's who made even higher market penetrations.
Surprise !they mostly run on older hardware.
Wow has 62.2 % marketshare.
Why do I always get this feeling MMORPG is complete out of proportion with the real base of MMO players ))
I'd say feet back on the ground to the editor of MMORPG and certainly to you.
Yep and before WoW we all sat around and played card's,Yep believe it or not you got to play WoW because game's kept evolving and they continue to do so,Whats that, ohh your pc isnt good enough, well to bad suck it up and get a new one or just be quiet instead of silly insult's,Also if you check your all mighty graph(loling btw)and do some real research you will find that the like's of lineage had almost 2 mil ppl playing at 1 point.
If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"
Then again, games with over 100k subs are pretty awesome games no matter what really.. And its enough to fill a couple of servers..
I sure as hell didnt have fun in wow or EvE becouse the subs where low/high... aslong as theres enough to go around on a server. Heck i play lineage2 on Lionna server with about 1k avarage players on.. works wonders (the bigger servers got from 3-5k online, but they are more botinfested to..)
Its like the EvE devs say, if we get over 200k subs, were doing a hell of a job and profiting...
Its not about the subs ppl, get over the 10m wow market and start focusing on the ppl on your server... Couse even with 10 mill players playing wow, there servers seems more dead then many other games with all the instancing...
Id bet a AoC server with open pvp actually happeneing (god lets pray they dont go heavy on the minigames) and sieges going on, it will seem ALOT (yes alot) more alive then a random WoW server (not counting there battlegrounds, nor AoCs minigames),
WoWs greatest times imo is on new server where ppl level and gank the shit out of each other over hunting grounds.. when it shifts to BG and Raid farming... its dying.. (not saying instancing is bad, but to the wow extent... well thats for another thread)
/end rant
P.S for those trolls and flamers in here, ill give you a hand. Im a Blizz Fanboi. And i also look at AoC possitively so i guess that makes me a AoC fanboi too, there you have it. Move along.

Thanks for backin me up Zorndorf, lol. To daylight: Yeah, it's a random number out of my head. But it's not as random as, say, "99% of the WoW players are below 15". Or "79.413% of Internet statistics are really false." It's an educated guess. Based on what I've seen, on what I've heard, on what I know. If you want to chime in with a higher or lower number, be my guest. But I'm saying that it will have ~ (the ~ means approximately, it could be over or below by thousands. Who knows now) 200k consistent subs. That's not counting those who try it out for 1 month then decide they don't like it. I'm talking 6 months plus, or at least until they get one char. to 80.
Would you like me to say it will beat WoW and have 10,900,999 subs?

i urge you to read this post. with all the haters andf flamers around here, just take few minutes, be honest with yourself and think: why the hell you wanna buy this game and not stay with wow. I personaly going to wait for the first reviews and than buy this game. credit: Ingrid http://www.play-girlz.com/is-age-of-conan-better-than-world-of-warcraft/
The official launch date for FunCom’s MMO, Age of Conan, is fast approaching, and the MMO players of the world are trying to answer the ultimate questions: Is AoC better than WoW? Should I leave WoW for AoC? I’m not exactly sure what people expect others to answer, as if this game were somehow so magical, so incredibly beyond anything that ever came before that it would compel every single person that’s ever tried it to proclaim: YES! IT IS OFFICIALLY THE BEST GAME EVER. IT IS THE MARY POPPINS OF MMOS - PERFECT IN EVERY WAY. Let’s get real. Making two gamers happy is difficult. Making every gamer in the world happy is delusional thinking. Is AoC better than WoW? Who’s to say that it is and who’s to say that it isn’t? There’s no real answer to the question: is x better than y. I love MMOs and I usually try as many of them as I can only to find that the vast majority of them are a huge disappointment. But that’s not to say that they suck or that I can’t see why others might find enjoyment in them. In the end, it all boils down to personal preference. If you’re trying to figure out whether AoC (or any other game) is “better” than WoW (or any other game), I suggest the following: - Figure out what you like about WoW and figure out what you don’t - Read as much as you can about the game you’re thinking of buying - Read the forums but don’t take all comments to heart. People will always have different opinions/experiences. - Find out if your computer can play the game (otherwise you’re just wasting your time if you’re not willing/able to upgrade) - Sign up for the betas or do your best to get into the open betas - Ask specific questions. People tend to be a lot more helpful when they feel they can be. - Understand that MMOs are never truly “complete” and that comparing a game that hasn’t even launched to a game that’s been out for four years is terribly unfair and a little crazy. I was there for WoW’s open beta/launch and played it for several months before quitting. I came back a year and a half later and it was honestly an entirely different game and an entirely different experience. I expect the same will be true of AoC, WAR or any other MMO that’s launching. That’s not to say that these games won’t be enjoyable at the beginning, they’re just obviously not going to have the same amount of content. - And of course, the ultimate way to find the answer to the ultimate question is… try the game. Wait for free trials to spring up, or see if any of your friends will let you play on their accounts. If you’ve got the funds, buy it and try it. No one says you have to keep your subscription and in the end it’s not any more expensive than any console game you buy, beat, and stick on a shelf to collect dust
I think I am glad I preordered. I don't care much what others do or don't do. Thats between them and their wallet. I want to play AoC, so I will.
I was in the beta of WoW also, and unlike you I didn't go anywhere for nearly 2 years. The game experience didn't change one bit. Blizzard did patches and bug fixes well into the 1st year after launch, they did a pretty good job. Not a great job, they were slow to react to the sheer numbers of players at launch, and there were still bugs around. But so what?
I will never go back to WoW. It was fun but I had my fill of it a long time ago. All that is beside the point. People do what they want to anyway, so buy AoC with no trial, wait for a buddy key or don't play it at all. Thats the wonderful thing about advise, it's so easily ignored.
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Give a fish a man and he will eat for a month!
Play what you want to play but keep in mind that AoC combat system has been designed to fit the X Box game pads. And that their true targets are console players.
I have some doubts on the state of the game after release,I'll wait 2 months to see how things evolve.
To the guy who said that the game will have 2M sub ,I don't know what you are smoking but it works

To OP
maybe you plan to wait, not me.

First:
the tech specs : go look to your next computer game store and see what the people are buying.
LOL,I think I know what a sub is,again ok I maybe see your point that alot of game's sold are the 5 euro game's for system's built 5 years ago,but your "5% of the market" is also very flawed, hell how many of that(as you call it) 95% even play on-line game's?I am sorry but again you are going under the "I can shout but cant prove file"Look I cant prove anything all I do know is everyone is different and you saying "yep 200k subs"is just being stupid as you have no idea how this game will release and indead how many ppl will sub with decent pc system's.
I could say like you"hell everyone has good system's now and everyone wants a new game and this is the game for them and I think it will get 2 mil subs"
Something wrong with the above statement?
Yep I cant prove it and is alot of nonsense.

ffs the 2 mil I said was an example<sigh>I do believe though that LOTRO went upto 1 mil and faded,At the end of the day I stand by my point, you have no idea what this game will be on release date or indeed how well it will do,you are just using your own point of view on the matter and everyone(thank god)is an individual.

I'm talking 6 months plus, or at least until they get one char. to 80.Would you like me to say it will beat WoW and have 10,900,999 subs?

A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"
