Mature Rating / Immature community???

I wanted to hear thoughts from folks who have been in beta, on the level of maturity of the current community.
I noticed in a few posts people have mentioned a lack of maturity in game so far. I know most expected the game to have mostly adults(and I use that term loosely) based on the "Mature" rating,. The reality is that it may draw the exact opposite.
Anyone?

RL or game.. it makes no difference.
Stop trying to avoid the inevitable and learn to live with it.
Soon you can look past the immature crowd.. the sooner you can move on and enjoy your life/game.
Also the soon you learn how /ignore works.. the sooner you can make them stfu.
I think that there are probably lots of kids that got into the beta that hopefully won't be playing once it goes live. MAYBE that will raise the level of maturity.
PvE Server for me though. The FFA PvP is just crazy. All I wanted to do was look around and see how big the world was, but NOOOOOOOOO.... Camp my but at the Rez will ya. It was so slow loading that I was dead before I loaded a couple of times. Kinda hard to fight back in that situation.
It has tits and blood thus it has younger people even if it has a mature rating.

Ganking has nothing to do with maturity. It's fun and hilarious, but doesn't make them immature.. maybe an asshole if you think they are one, but doesn't make them immature.
That's like saying adults are immature if they watch a cartoon or eat candy or have a teddy bear.
The definition of immaturity is so jaded by peoples personal views that we don't know what is immature or not. The ideal of right and wrong has been so altered with time that there's no telling what's right or wrong.
Number 1 Rule: It's a game. Have fun. Don't take it serious.
If you get upset. Get up and walk away. This is just a beta test. No one is going to force you to play a pvp server on release.
For the love of god people though.. stop complaining.. ENTIRE beta has been pve. Let the pvps have some dang fun for a change..

well the maturity level of the game reminded me a lot of WOW take that for what you will and flame on if you want to but there was plenty of "I'm going to do _____ to your wife""You are a ____" the word n00b(spelled just like that) plenty of times and various other dick jokes and 15 year old male behavior going on during the open beta. the ffa pvp was even worse, apparently spawn/npc camping and general greifing is equal to skill. Most first person shooters will ban you from servers for this behavior but I guess in MMO PVP it's par for the course. So to sum it up I hope age verification helps out but just because you are 18 or over doesn't mean you are not a total jackass. And I will also be rolling on a PVE server in hopes of lower douche baggery.

Meh I'm used to immaturity as i'm immature my self, but I aim to have fun in a game. I like to leave my professional life out of my game as I am capable of enjoying my self far more. I won't be jumping around naked.. probably, but I'd do some hardcore bragging after killing someone or possibly an asshat (rofwaffles, I LOVE YOU DAOC) or 2.

Better question to ask when the game is release and people are paying a subscription to it dont you think?
I bet there are many people who are members at fileplanet who have no interest in subbing but just seeing what its like. As well as many people who subbed to fileplanet to see what the game is like but again dont have a real interest in subbing. I bet there is a large demograph there that dont even play mmorpg's and more FPS or other genre's.
When the game is released only subscribers will be able to post on the official forums too, wiping out alot of immaturity in threads - those people know who they are too.

Unfortunatly there is lots of kids in the beta already. Since they will need a adult to purchase the game for them, I hope that will cut the numbers down. I personally don't care to deal with the child like acts that you get from people. That is why I try to play mostly with adults. I am part of a gaming group that is all 21 and older people. If any of you are interested in playing with adults only, without all the drama ,come over and check us out at AGEROCKS.com. We have a good dozen people so far who have the game pre-ordered. Hope to see more of you from here join up with us. Be nice to have a guild with adults only.
If there's one thing I've learned over the years that it's the kids who post so much on forums and the matures who are really playing
Oh don't get me wrong I do read forums now and then but can't be bothered to post most of the times that people have it wrong.
That a community looks immature doesn't mean it is immature.. Some grown ups can act very immature as well. In my experience over the years is that when you act normal and polite, most will act normal and polite back. Having a chitchat now and then and the community will be healthy and thriving. But as soon as some people start to hate each other and start cursing and name calling it starts to work on others as well.
You don't have to be part of the "server" community, you can make your own community.
TBH the community is a large contribution to why i have canceled my pre-order.
My MMO life grew up on Pre-CU SWG which for the most part had a very friendly helpful mature community due to its leveling curve.
Conan is about as far from that kind of community as possible.
The closed beta and the forums are full of 3 types of people.
1. The mature friendly helpful kind however this makes up a very small percentage.
2. The elitist asshat's who have an opinion and wont budge due to AOC's combat system im noticing a lot of FPS players playing it as well who must have there E-Peens massaged daily
3. The fanboi's no matter who post's what it will get shot down, yesterday was the final straw for me with these guys In a post about poor performance in which someone provided full system spec's and the exact error they had in over 50 posts there where 2 helpful posts detailing what the person could try before giving up on AOC and the rest where the fanboi's telling the person to F off back to WOW or its a beta its meant to be laggy and keep crashing.
Conan at its heart is a ok game with a few interesting features, it's let down is in its system requirements the vast majority of people with the hardware to run it efficiently are the die hard gamers who come with a die hard gamer attitude.
Or is it just the allure of blood and boobie's /shrug I dont know I do know as of yesterday my pre-orders where canceled and I probably wont even take a look at AOC come retail.
My computer ran the game fine and it was graphicly gorgeus however it just wasnt a game that appealed to me a elitist immature community coupled with a game that is a tad too enclosed with a complete lack of interdependancy and social tool's.

I guess the one post about waiting until the actual launch before judging the community is the best thing. I will give the game a try anyway so I will be able to judge for myself. One thing I've learned in the past with a pvp base mmo's is that folks tend to be a bit out of control and silly in the beginning but it usually simmers down after some time.
I will be playing the game with my wife so thats the reason for the op(we were curious). Funny though my wife is the one that gets scrappy when it comes to pvp. Once she even got mad at me and called me a carebear. For us the ganking and spawn camp(which i think funcom will remedy) doesn't bother us as much as hordes of people acting stupid.
Time will tell.
Betas are rife with younger kids. They are the ones that tend to talk about these forthcoming games at school. When was the last time one of your coworkers mentioned a beta test they were working on at a board meeting?
And, least we forget, these games are toys. Toys by and large make up a more important part of childrne's lives than that of adults.
Would it be nice to have an MMPI (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory ) prescreened by a psychologist before people are allowed to subscribe to a game? You bet. But I doubt there is a amrket force powerful enough to bring that to fruition.

I think the immature and ignorant people will drop a lot when retail hits the shelves, but in any game it'll never be totally gone. Theres too many immature adults for that. Not only that, but a lot of kids can also get any game they want because their parents don't pay attention to what they play. I also heard about the game being downloadable, meaning kids might just be able to lie about their age in some question form and still get the game.
Although, like said before, let's not judge the community before we've played retail for like a week or two. And again after a month or two.

Its not that hard to get away from the spawn point. Run, chug a health pot, chug a stam pot if you can't out run them. They won't chase you too far, they are intersted in camping the spawn point and not chasing someone half way across the zone.

Those spawn campers that you are so eloquently defending will do the same crap on release day and well into the life of the game (that is if FunCom doesn't put in rez immunity timers). They are not interested in anything but making other peoples gameplay as horrid as they can make it.From your post I have gathered you are one of those idiots that found joy in making everyone else miserable.
the other day was the 1st time i've ever disabled chat in an online game. i hope its only the beta crowd and things will change after release but who knows.
This game is going to have alot of immature kids running around. Hopefully most of them will roll on pvp servers so they can get off ganking people doing quests to make them feel better about getting beat up at school and getting their lunch money taken.
I consider myself immature and I will definetly roll in a PVP server to gank people, but be sure that I will gank you if you have full HP and if you are not fighting any mob and ofcourse if you are on a 3 level radio of my level, higher and lower, I will only attack you in this circunstances if you attacked me first. And no, no one took my lunch money ever (I'm in college now), I will simply do it because I want to proof that I'm better than you at this game and that you SUCK and you should be rolling in a PVE server.
In PVP server only the weakest die and blame it on immature people. PVP FTW.
Oh and if I get ganked badly, I will just jump into another instance
