You have to post better than that m8,what kind of card(even though 256mb is cutting on the low side anyway)
dont be lazy when asking for help post your full specs so ppl can help you.
If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"
Also the card you are using plz would also help.Although I have a funny feeling it will be an on board card.

Might be time to upgrade friend. 2.6Ghz Single-Core is behind on most gaming.
I have doubts of it being "playable" but it will run it. My friend has AMD 3200 single core, x800, 2gb ddr 350mhz and is able to run it on lowest at a playable level.
Ouch celeron. I'd get a buddy key and test it out before buying. The clock is fine but celeron's known to be really bad. Video card is not listed in the specs or I'm not seeing it anyway.
Ok to be honest you have no chance,I am sorry to be so harsh but your system wont be running AoC at anything decent if at all, there comes a time when the only option is a new system and unfortunatly you have reached that point.

or at least a high 7 series video card. I run AoC on medium setting with e6600 duo core CPU (2.4 gig), 2 gig ram, and an ati radeon 2600XT video card.
There is no point in the op buying a new card,it is a waste of money, you are running duo core machine he is not also the money he spends on a new card even if it is a 7 series wont help him in the slightest, best he put that money to a new system.

Memory looks ok for running on xp but the video card looks on the low end. If you really want to play you'll probably need to upgrade. Although, until the game is release it is impossible to say for sure.
I have said this a few times and will say it again,If you struggle to run this game or even if you are on low settings I would worry how it will handle in the higher levels come siege combat etc,It is ok to say "yep I run at low settings with so and so system" but I would wager that come the higher end content you will be running a slide show.

Well if this helps I have... Intel Pentium 4 , 3.2 GHZ, 2 Gig of Ram and a Gforce 7600 GT Card and I can only run it on the lowest graphic settings.
I have a Dell XPS 720
Core2 duo 1.86Ghz (rated at 4.89Ghz)
4 gigs of DDR2 ram
8600gts 256mb card
I can run the game on medium settings with 30 to 40 fps with a ton of people on the screen and yes I was in the open beta so I am speaking the truth.
However, I am upgrading the cpu and video card as I am just not satisfied with medium settings
Yeah I think I'm going to have to upgrade although it will be reluctantly, the one thing that annoys me is that Lotro for instance is much nicer looking than Conan and I can run that on Full whack no problems, I think its just bad coding by Funcom really

On low settings AoC looks worse but on high settings AoC blows LotRO out of the water on graphics. Don't get me wrong, I love LotRO as I bought a founders lifetime sub before it released and will always stick with that game but for my second MMO I am going with AoC as it is as visually stunning if not more when DX 10 is enabled.
I also love the faster pace of combat in AoC, this was my first draw to the game.
I have a 1.79 Gh, 2.5 gigs ram, and a7900gs. I can run the game All he needs is a new video card.
Is yoru 1.79ghz process single core or dual core? I would be dual core as a 1.79Ghz single core wouldn't even start up the game.. well it might but you wouldn't be playing.
He only has a 2.66Ghz single core processor, if his motherboard supports it I would upgrade to at least a 3.0 single core or a 2.6 dual core at the minimum. Definately needs a video upgrade and for that the 8800gt 512 is his best bet (granted that his motherboard will support that card).
Memory: 4gig PC6400 DDR2 800mhz Overclocked to 1000mhz
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium X64
HardDrive: Maxtor Xtreme 10,000 RPM Sata II Drive
This system cost me around 1200$ to build myself with no Monitor. I run EVERYTHING on High minus Bloom mainly because I do not like the bloom effect, with 4x Antialiasing and I pull about 60-75fps.
Time to upgrade from that crap you're using dude. That system is dead. I GURANTEE you it does not even run PCIe and that you are still running an AGP Video Card (which you can't even buy now).
Fork out the cash and upgrade. I typically upgrade every 3-4 years.

Its a single core , and yes it does run the game. Your RAM and your videocard are much more important than processor speed.

Yes I am aware of the ram and vid card requirements but with a single core 1.79Ghz processor you can't be getting good FPS. I would still recommend upgrading the cpu.

NVIDIA GeForce6200
You might be able to run it on low setting. But I wouldn't count on it with that setup. Maybe upgrade to a dual core CPU and then try it.
EDIT:
Ok, you definitely need a better video card than that. You probably can't even run it on low setting with a 2.6gig CPU and a 6 series geforce card.
Well it would be able to run it but it wont be playable at all. You'll be getting about 5fps average I would think.

Wont help. This game is more graphics and RAM hungry than CPU. Complete new computer would be needed.

i would say no
i am using p4 3.2 with a 8600gt 2 gigs ddr3 and get 20 fps on low still playable
