They should've filed for bankruptcy back in March or April. That's when the first tidal wave of cancelations happened. If not that, then they should've started to reorganize the servers and sell off what they could to stay afloat.
It would've been a good game if they would've waited another 6months to a year to release.
Nah what happened was they fired the guy(david allen i think) that was goan make the game truly innovative and cool. Instead he got backstabed and got his own company taken away from him and all his cool vision for the game corrupted.
If you browse these forums you could read what horizons could have been.
I payed until march but i stopped playing somewhere half Februari. The thing i hated in this game was that there was a group of people who didn't had a full time job, and had all the time of the world to level far away from the people with less free time. And the people of Artifact planned all the events for those high levels guys, so whe couldn't get along with the events.
The classes where very poor balanced. I had a Wizard an he did less damage then a tank.
We started to with four of us and after a month the first quit. And we followed soon after him.

Huh? All games have people that have full time jobs and kids that play 24/7. Horizons is no different. Also I had a wizard and he outdamaged every other class. I dont think you know what youre talking about.
Lying in bed, looking up at the stars, a single thought passed through my head. Where the fuc|{ is my roof.
I played the game very intensive the first 2 months, but when the events began i wasn't able to do any damage on those satyrs. I was level 29 on that moment. And i know for sure most other classes of the same level did more damage on that moment.
A friend of my who was a fire monk did more damage and had heavier armor. Maybe is the wizard more powerfull on later levels, but i rather see it balanced over all levels. And yes i had spend my points right, it is not the first RPG i played.
And offcourse have all games people who have a full time jobs. A reason to more to balance levelling between people who has much time an a little time to play.
To bad i picked up on the 10 day retrial thingy today then, have a lvl 27 elar and lvl 44 outfitter (and he has a LOT of other schools to). Was kinda enjoying myself really.
Id hate to see this game crash and burn

Yep, thats exactly why I lost my interest in the game. Was that the guy that had all the initial ideas of player characters like that beetle looking thing that could jump and hover? I remember there were so many great ideas on there, then the word came he got the boot.
I left for a couple months and came back and everything that made me interested in the game was gone. The graphics too were way below what I had expected. I thought they looked worse than eq when it first came out...too bad, maybe they'll think twice before getting rid of the more creative people.
i bought horizons but never played it after i found it wouldn't let me play with friends from the States. international accounts were being added but after 2 months still nothing.
Most of my friends on that game cancelled it so i stopped following it.
did come to post and ask if the game has got alot better
Wait so does this mean that the game and servers are history? I had a tear, really I did. I had so many high hopes for HZ. Alas, it took me 2 days to suscribe and install the game and I quickly found it to be a bit repetitive. I had a few good times, at least I think, because I would not feel so sad about HZ dying unless it has a subliminal impact on me. I have been following it for such a damn long time, a year at least before it released on my birthday.

I dont think Horizons is history just yet. AE have recently accepted an offer from another company called Tulga Games for the purchase of AE's assets (which includes Horizons). So hopefully this new lot may have some money and time (and decent staff levels) to make the game what it can become.
It would appear that a company has bought Artifact entertainment now. They intend to continue supporting Horizons.
TULGA GAMES LLC REACHES AN AGREEMENT TO PURCHASE THE ASSETS OF ARTIFACT ENTERTAINMENT
September 24, 2004 MESA, Ariz. Artifact Entertainment, developers of the award-winning massively multiplayer online role-playing game Horizons, announced today that it has reached an agreement, subject to court approval, with Tulga Games, LLC., in which Tulga Games has agreed to purchase the assets of Artifact Entertainment.
Artifact Entertainments CEO and Creative Director, David Bowman, said, Tulga Games has made a very exciting offer to purchase the assets of Artifact Entertainment. This offer has been agreed to by our secured creditors and, pending approval of the court, or a superior offer, we will accept Tulgas offer.
No a side note. I personly enjoy horizons alot. It has most of the features I want from a MMORPG without many of the things I find anoying. The Developers seem to be the hardest working group I've ever seen, the changes they've made to the game over tha last year have changed it from a poor mess into a competant game. Its a shame they lost so many customers early on. The game has far less lag, runs farster, plays better has more content.
The stuff I really like about it: Very little downtime during play. Unlike alot of mmorpgs you dont have to spend 8 out of 10mins sitting on the floor waitng for health/mana to come back. No Zones to load. The crafting system is extreemly good.

We will see on 25th if Judge allows Tulga (David Bowmans new name for AE) to purchase AE assets. This should be done during chapter 7, unless of course Tulga buys out AE then that means Tulga has to pay off all AE debts. This shouldn't happen, so that means chapter 7 and Tulga could be beat out from any others that could bid. As far as the crafting system they redid the game and a lot do not like the new crafting system. So what was great about game (crafting) is no longer true.

Well i played it felt it was too much astray from the original concept and did nothing new to the genre.
But doubt it will fold anytime soon may just change management is all.
