Does FC need to implement a penalty for death in PvP?

I mean a larger penalty than the slight debuff. I'd like to see a loss in XP, but only if the person killing you is at your level or below you. If you kill someone who's a lower level than your self, say 5 levels or more they lose no experience. FC will also be implementing a rule so that after a rez you can't attack or be attacked for a while, inorder to prevent the spawn camping.

Also if the player you killed is less than 5 levels lower or higher than you, you can loot their inventory but not what they're wearing or weapons they're holding. This is mainly because I played EVE and losing everything = time sink, also everyone ended up going out with crap setups so that they didn't lose their best stuff.

    The only point in this that even can be considered an issue is the spawn camping i am sure they will fix that.... But b4 you go making any other wild posts did you even play the beta? or read up on the game? PvP death makes you lose PvP xp roughly equal to 6 group kills or 3 solo kills.... you start out at 10k pvp xp, you get 50 per kill in a group and 110ish solo, you need 60k pvp xp to get to lvl 2, something like 125k to get to lvl 3 you lose 300 xp per death.

     

    That doesn't sound like a big enough hit for a death? should you lose 2k? so that way NO ONE would get above pvp lvl 10

    I got into the beta but only on the last day since it took me 3 days to DL, so I didn't get into the PvP. So could you tell me exactly what the punishment for PvP is and if there are any level restrictions? I also mentioned the looting, what do you think about that?

    Don't they already lose EXP on PVP death? I coulda sworn there was an article around that quoted Fun Com saying you lost EXP on PVP death.

    No, there is currently no rules in place to have a server with body looting... Level would be hard to comment on as everyone was roughly the same lvl when pvping each other............

    as for the is pvp xp good for lvling, i would suspect that the bonus' you gain from having higher pvp lvl (more hp mana stam) would be beneficial it you as you lvl, but i must admit if the pvp on the final day showed me anything its that unless you run in a 100% static group, you will be losing more xp then you again.

    AOC FFA PVP ... there is certanly something missing ...

    In last interview  G.G stated that they had many pvp mechanics , but they removed it all - because players want to be free. Well that is not quite right.

    Players maybe want to be free , but they NEED not to be.

    Game withouth rules of engagement is nothing. Football withouth rules , is called "Pass the ball"



    Consequences

    death penalty , looting , bounty , faction loss .... these are just some ideas.

    Sounds alot like Good ol' SWG back in the day, you pvp'd for the sake of pvp... Why do people always need a reason to want to go bash someones head in?

     

    Oh gawd guys, all i gotta do is bash 18 more people for my new chest piece...

     

    Also, wouldn't it be kind of hypocritical to call something Free for all, and have rules attached?

    Ever heard about insurrance? Why not to implement it into AOC! ?!

    It would be great to have up to uncommon item to have lets say 2% drop if a char dies then someone can loot chest piece or whatever. This way would be avoided leech of getting 10000 times the same item and made it into money.

    Ofc after looting it, there should be serious repair cost and insurance cost for player who lost/looted it + to repair other gear he had.

    Believe it or not this has been discussed in the official forums a LOOOOOONG time ago. Lots of people including myself voted for an ffa pvp server with some form of looting. FC was reluctant at the time to implement either. Seems they caved in for the 1st but never liked the looting idea. They came up with the blood money idea which at the time felt kind of dum to most pvpers.

     

    But after they decided to go with WoW mechanics concerning pvp its too late to implement any other kind of pvp DP

    I like your ideas... PVP exp penalties and rewards are a great concept, if used properly.  Mayhem weekend was a perfect example of how to screw it up.

    So it sounds I should just be gratefull that we even have a PvP server? Man I nearly crapped my pants when you said they were reluctant to even have one!
